I am a 100% disabled veteran with mobility issues, and while getting food with my family in the family in my ************* area, my car was booted by Wheel Blockers Towing and Parking Enforcement. I was instructed that the parking lot was for that section of the area only, and I would have to pay $250 to have it removed. I was pressured to pay and despite showing the technician my handicapped status I was denied. This is fleecing crippled and disabled people for money they dont have and its reprehensible.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/18/2024

We apologize for any inconvenience but  the spaces are for parking of the lot you were parked in and anyone handicapped for those businesses only. If you were going elsewhere unfortunately you should have parked in theyre lot.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 11/19/2024

I am rejecting this response because:

Not only are you profiting off of federally recognized spaces reserved for people with mobility issues, but youre penalizing them for use of that space because they need to park closer to establishments.

Your company is directly responsible for a disabled combat veteran to jeopardize their health and well being in the pursuit of profit.  This is why this incident is being taken to local news and veteran organizations, as well as the businesses you represent to ask them why you believe that charging handicapped people hundreds of dollars for a parking fine is acceptable and ethical.

Vehicle was illegally booted and charged $250 to remove. Was told we have to patronize an establishment in the parking area, which we did **************.

      Business Response

Unfortunately parking is only for the establishments of that property. You cant leave and go elsewhere as you did which resulted in your vehicle being booted. Signs are posted clearly throughout the property stating parking is for there only.

My vehicle was damaged while in the possession of Wheel Blockers. When I contacted them to inquire about how to get the vehicle fixed, I was met with a nasty attitude. While in a lapse of judgement, I forgot to ask for the name of the person I was speaking with and the phone call ended. I called back to ask for the name of the individual I was just speaking to, but was greeted by a different individual who fed me lies saying that he was the only person who was answering phone calls. However, when I asked if he was the person I had just spoken to, he said no. He ended up giving me his name, which is ***** and said that I was speaking to his boss. Confirming that he had just lied considering the fact he said he was the only person answering calls at the moment. After he gave me his name, he cut me off while I was speaking, then he proceeded to hang up on me while I was trying to ask for the name of his boss. After this I instantly tried to call back from a different number but was sent to voicemail. This is unacceptable behavior for a company who deals with others personal property. I was denied the name of the employee who gave me an attitude and was shut down while trying to receive compensation to fix the damages caused by their negligence.

Just for your info the supervisor gave you a call back that the dispatcher was unaware of. As far as any damage to your vehicle weve already stated to you that there is no way our trucks can damage your door or side. Our trucks only touch your tires as weve already stated. You have an older vehicle with prior issues already and parked in a crowded parking deck where anything could have already happened to your vehicle. Again we did not damage your vehicle in any way and will not pay for anything we did not do.

My vehicle was booted on October 21, while other vehicles were not...the only difference was that I am white and the other drivers were black. Instead of being issued a ticket by law enforcement, an unknown mobile business locked my wheel and forced me to pay on the spot to have it removed. Meanwhile multiple other vehicles were allowed to go without being booted or having to pay. I expect my money returned or i will go to court and ****

      Business Response

      Date: 10/21/2024

First of all you didnt state where you were parked but wherever you were you had to have been illegally parked to have been booted. Your claim of being booted because of race is completely ridiculous. Signs are posted stating the parking rules per city ordinance. Going forward please pay attention to those signs and follow the parking rules to avoid this situation.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 10/22/2024

Regardless of where I was parked, this company is engaging in targeting a vehicles that they know would have the opportunity to pay them on the spot. I drive an expensive car. The other folks werent. They also were all black and were all let go. Im happy to go to court and fight this to the end because targeting of specific citizens is against the law as you would know considering your drivers are black. If we were to do the same, it would be considered illegal by the courts as it is by you. I will sue you civilly and I will force every business in that shopping complex to provide video footage of your man in action targeting specific drivers or you can return my money. I wasnt parked. Id ordered something online and ran in and grabbed it wasnt even in the building 30 seconds. But your man sat in that parking lot and waited until he saw an expensive car and thats the one he decided to boot. I have no problem going to court. Ill see you there.

      Business Response

Your theory is about as ignorant as your claim. We have employees of every race and could care less what color you are. We are there to do a job. So again maybe if you wouldnt have been ignorant to  whole situation regarding the parking rules and your self entitlement and respected others property and the parking rules established then you wouldnt have been booted or in this situation. We will not be issuing a refund for your being illegally parked.

      Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because its ********. And btw I wouldnt call someone a moron when you dont know the correct phrase (couldnt care less). You think this is about money but clearly you dont know who I am. This is about principal. So I will see your a** in court over and over again and on the news. I dont care whether you return my money or not. Im just going to make sure you never get away with this again.

This incident happened on Saturday 10/12/24. I had to pay $250 on the spot for supposedly being illegally parked. The business didn't commit to provide anything, but placing a Boot on my Legally parked vehicle! I was parked in a handicapped parking space on a property. My car has active handicap plates on my car. Regardless of whether I left to go to the moon, there was absolutely no reason I should have been BOOTED. The only way to resolve the issue then was to pay the $250 on the spot. Thank God I had it. It's the principal of this incident. I was NOT illegally parked. Had I been anywhere else, there would not have been a boot on my car, maybe a ticket because I went somewhere else.

      Business Response

      Date: 10/24/2024

Unfortunately if you were booted then you were illegally parked. Since you didnt provide the location it sounds as if you parked on private property and left the property to go elsewhere or didnt have the required parking permit to park on that particular property as well. Going forward please pay attention to all signs and follow the parking rules to avoid this situation.

Wheelblocker's booted my son's car on Sunday September 15. No clear signs posted regarding parking (I am not from *********). The man watched us park and did not say anything. When we returned the car was booted. I stated we did not know and did not see any signed. I had to get to the airport for my flight back. The fee started at $500 and ended with $225. This is extortion and predatory business practices. I am working with my credit card company and seeking an attorney. In reading the online comments it was suggested to contract the Charlotte *********************

Signs are clearly posted per city ordinance at each entrance onto to lot stating the parking rules and fees. However you failed to read the signs and respect the property owners by leaving your vehicle to go elsewhere. Again signs are posted with the parking rules and fees and we encourage you to pay attention when parking on private property to avoid being booted or towed.

I went to have breakfast at a restaurant located on **************. The parking it was completely full, including the only three handicapped parking spots. I parked my car in the handicapped parking in the lot located next to the restaurant with my handicapped placard visible. I was not illegally parked at all and unable to walk long distances. After returning to my car, I realized a boot had been placed on my car in which I was not illegally parked. No sign stated I could not visit other establishments if I parked there. I called the number on the citation and the person who answered the phone was completely rude to me. I noticed an unmarked car in the parking lot as the person that was applying the boots to vehicles. I explained to him that I had a handicapped places visible and I was only one spot. He became aggressive and stated I had to pay $250 to have it removed. I called the police and was forced to pay the fine. Police agreed I was not illegally parked. The police was able to have the fee reduced to $150 but I still feel like the boot should have been removed with no fee. This will be filed in court for harassment and its definitely a scam .

      Business Response

      Date: 09/24/2024

Unfortunately you were still illegally parked and the police cannot tell you that you werent because you were on private property. We agreed to discount your fee because you had the handicap placard. As you stated you parked in a parking lot for businesses of that property and left your vehicle to cross the street to go elsewhere. Signs are clearly posted stating the parking rules and fees. However the handicap spaces are for the businesses of that property only. Please pay attention and follow all parking rules going forward to avoid being booted or towed.

I am writing to express my frustration with the booting practices employed by this company. Recently, my vehicle was booted for allegedly parking illegally, yet the specifics of what constituted this illegal parking were not clearly communicated. I called the number of the company inquiring about what the guidelines were for being illegally parked and they said we dont have to tell you anything. The lack of clear signage and guidelines regarding parking rules creates confusion and places an unreasonable burden on customers. Many drivers, including myself, rely on visible regulations to ensure compliance, and without these, it feels unjust to penalize us with such severe measures. The sign says, Unauthorized and illegally parked vehicles will be booted or towed at owner's expense. However, it does not clarify what illegally parked vehicles entails and when contacted, the company will not provide an explanation. I urge this company to review and enhance their communication regarding parking policies. Clear signage and a detailed explanation of what constitutes illegal parking would greatly improve customer experience and prevent unnecessary incidents.

      Business Response

      Date: 09/24/2024

The signs are posted and worded per city ordinance requirements. Unfortunately you didnt state where you were parked as some signs have certain wordage included also for example Customer Parking Only, Parking By Permit Only. Anything outside of that would be through your HOA or management and they have bylaws in place within the community that each resident is aware of. Again if you see a towing sign its there for a reason best to not park there unless authorized.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 09/24/2024

I am rejecting this response because:

I was parked in front of ******************, a business for this parking lot. Please see the attached screenshot for reference. The sign states Customer Parking Only. I was a paying customer of two businesses in that parking lot, ****************** and Insomnia Cookies, therefore I was not illegally parked and was authorized to park there. Please see the attached bank statements showing I was a paying customer at both businesses in that parking lot the day of the violation. The clarification on Customer Parking Only is not adequately communicated and the recent booting of my vehicle was unjustified as I followed the parking guidelines. I understand the importance of adhering to regulations, but clearer signage would help prevent frustration for residents and customers.

      Business Response

      Date: 09/24/2024

You parked and left the property to go elsewhere first and that is the reason you were booted. Parking is for the customers of that property only.

Even with proof that a car was wrongfully towed, the towing yard still requires you to pay. On September 16, 2024, I presented a parking permit issued by my apartment complex to the staff, but we were unable to reach an agreement that would allow me to retrieve my car directly. After calmly discussing the situation with two ********s, a third ******** named **** came out and threatened me. He told me to leave or he would grab his gun and shoot me. **** was not involved in the initial conversation or negotiation with the other ************ is evident that this towing yard hires individuals who are unable to remain calm in high-stress environments. The towing business is already a stressful situation for customers due to the inconvenience of paying $350 to retrieve a vehicle. The situation is further compounded by the fact that customers may have jobs, families, or events they are running late for. While I understand I could have made a mistake by not presenting the permit more clearly, there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for anyones life to be threatened by an ******** over a vehicle. To equate someones life to a car is not only concerning but also reflects poorly on the character of the business and the individuals they employ. I strongly recommend that until this business can provide better training for their ********s to handle high-stress situations appropriately, people should reconsider working with them or contracting their services.

      Business Response

      Date: 09/17/2024

We apologize for any inconvenience but our drivers took pictures of the vehicle before they towed it and it did not have a pass visible nor was it registered in the parking app system. You came on the lot demanding your vehicle and being aggressive towards our employees when they asked you to step outside the gate. We are only doing a job and have no reason to be rude or angry. I dont know of our employee threatening anyone but again I will speak to everyone to make sure no situation results in threats. We are only doing our job and we want our employees as well as our customers safe. You did spit at our employee also and they did call have to call the police as well. We apologize for any misunderstanding but our employees were only doing their job.

Predatory towing company booted vehicle as I was walking up to move from lot. Business was not open when we originally parked there and we were waiting for food (outside and in view of the lot) across the street. Refused to remove the boot without paying an excessive fee of $250. This company has been subject to tons of complaints regarding their predatory business practices and excessive fees over the years and has been investigated by the city and local news. No posted fee amounts on signs at towing location.

      Business Response

      Date: 09/08/2024

All fees are posted on all signage at every entrance to the lot where you were illegally parked   As you stated you went across the street which resulted in your vehicle being booted. Please pay attention and follow all parking rules to avoid this situation.
