I have been cancelled 3 times and the last time I was told truck broke down in Tennessee with transmission problems and the truck was going to be towed All the way back to Maryland. They would pass over 50 transmission shops to Maryland. What a joke. Customer service is also a joke, can't get anyone to answer phone or call me back to know when I would be rescheduled. I would never buy anything from them. It's been over a 100 days and still no garage. I finally cancelled. I would advise anyone buying a garage from them to run the other way. I bought my garage from Allen's factory garage. They were very nice but being the middle man I still couldn't get any straight forward answers. Carolina carport is the worst company I've ever dealt with and they shouldn't be in business.

We certainly apologize for your frustrations. It does appear that you have ordered successfully from us multiple times in the past. In this particular situation, the contractor was working in Maryland on the set prior to your delivery. The contractor's truck did break down. They placed it in a shop in Maryland who assured it would be completed in a timely manner. That did not happen. The contractor opted to have the vehicle towed to his local shop for immediate repair. We apologize that your install was delayed but this is a situation that was completely out of our control. We mentioned that delays can occur in our contract as things such as weather and mechanical breakdowns are things that we cannot always plan ahead for. I am happy to have a manager reach out to further discuss your concerns.

Paid deposit on TWO buildings in October and have been scheduled, rescheduled, postponed and today, cancelled with no reschedule date.
Customer Service is a joke. They have wasted our time when we’ve e rearranged our schedules, invested in land clearing and leveling, and still waiting.
Reading all the posted complaints, Carolina Carports is nothing but excuses.
Would actually like a full refund so we can go to a legitimate contractor.

      Carolina Carports, Inc.

We apologize for the delays. The current unit that the contractors are delayed on is strictly due to weather. We have maintained continuous contact regarding this and updated at every juncture. We simply cannot control the weather that has been impacting our entire service area. I will have a manager reach out to further discuss.

Additionally, the first time the crew was scheduled, the land was off level, they could not install. The land had to be corrected before they could return. Since that time, the area and been inaccessible. According to Mr. ******, the area has now been cleared with a tractor so the crew can access it next week when they will be installing both units.

      Amanda

      Date: 01/19/2024

You are correct about the first attempt to install the smaller of the TWO buildings.
Since we have it leveled, that site has been accessible.
The larger building site has been level and accessible since November 16.
There has been adequate time and nice weather to have these two buildings installed. You lost over a month in December when your scheduler would not return our calls.
      All you offer is excuses.
We are not unreasonable and we have invested a significant amount of money in these two buildings. All we want is what we paid to get 4 months ago.
Next time you buy a car, don’t take delivery for 4 months and let me know how happy you are about that.
I wish I had seen all the negative comments and all the excuses from Carolina Carports before the deposits for the two buildings and the subsequent payment we made in the larger building. We would not have purchased from you.

      Carolina Carports, Inc.

      Date: 02/01/2024

I appreciate your reply. However, you failed to mention that the crew did come out and attempted to access the area but could not due to rain, snow, ice, etc. In fact, the driveway had to be scrapped. Once he did return, the area was completed shin deep mud which we have both photos and videos of. Our goal is to always take care of our customers in a timely manner, however, we cannot control the weather. Additionally, the contractors need to be able to travel and work safely. We hope you enjoy both of your units.

      Amanda

      Date: 02/02/2024

That is not true- the drive way was scraped BEFORE your crew came out and the pads were both scraped.
You know, you can comment all you want about the sites and the prep in the last few weeks but we paid in October and there was plenty of opportunity for your crew to come out when it was nice, when it was dry, when the temperatures were moderate. Say, like when we were scheduled in NOVEMBER and you cancelled - or even before Christmas, and you cancelled.
The crew is out there completing the 2nd building now. The larger building seems to be complete. The crew did a good job, none of this is a reflection on them.
Your scheduling and lies and trying to place blame on a paying customer ARE a direct reflection on Carolina Carports.

Bought the carport the end of August at
West End Buildings in Murphy N C. Came back for the leaf change last 2 weeks of October. Called WEB to check about a schedule date and had to call Deanna at Carolina Carports. She said they would call 2 weeks ahead for your delivery. We discussed us returning the week before and week of Thanksgiving to see if they would be able to install the carport at that time. She said they may be able to install it Thursday- Friday and if not they could 1st of the week. Came up for Thanksgiving and called, she said they weren’t able to fit it on that load. We returned to Fl and the very next day they called and scheduled it for Mon. Dec. 11th. I called Britney Fri. afternoon 12-8 to verify and she said yes mon afternoon. I drove up sun. and on my way up they left a message and said it would be delivered Thursday the 14th. I called Sunday and left a message expecting a call Mon. morning, No response. I left message again Monday morning. No return call. I called back, 10:30 talked to Britany, said she would check and call back 5 min. Never called me back . I called back at 4:00, talked to Deanna, her snide and rude remark was she could reschedule. I drove 600 miles and said **** no. Told her they new the Thursday 7th I would not be 1st load of week, each load is 3 days. Loaded sat, delivered Mon& Tues and reload Wed for my load. Deanna said I didn’t understand. Workers came sat. to reload. Exactly, they new there was a delivery between me, so why no call Thursday thru Saturday. Sundays call was a little late when they knew last week my delivery would be Thursday I said that’s stupid, they knew I came from fla. Not only no show or call I called again and Britany said they work late. I got a call from the guys that said they would be there at 6:30am. These 2 women are not only incompetent, the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. Look at the reviews. Save yourself, order from ***** ********.

We certainly apologize for your frustrations. As mentioned in our contract terms, changes in delivery can occur and sometimes occur unexpectedly. We do our best to make sure that everyone is notified and updated as soon as we are aware of any concerns. In this case, it appears that your are assuming the contractor did in fact load over the weekend prior to the call regarding the delay. Unfortunately that was not the case. The contractor was delayed on his previous load, forcing a late loading schedule. We do present each option, including rescheduling if there are delays. We maintain a contract with the independent contractors and expect that they relay any time delays. It appears that the contractor did so during route. We apologize that your transaction did not move along as smoothly as you had expected. I will certainly talk with our team regarding your concerns in hopes that we can avoid these types of concerns moving forward.

I ordered my enclosed carport back in Sept 16 23 was told up to 90 days. Well I wanted to update my order and tried calling to a busy signal several times, so I sent emails and no response yet still.. No one has ever contacted me. I'm skeptical but still have a little faith left in them, but the fruit they bare are showing me differently

I have researched your order and all communications. It would appear that your purchased through an independent dealer. To date, CCI has received no communication from you via phone or email since the purchase date. Perhaps this communication was directed to the dealer you purchased from? We are happy to help and I will have a customer service rep reach out to you. For revisions, you would need to speak back to the dealer. A rep will be reaching out today.

Ordered through Alan’s Factory outlet June1, finished Nov11. I was told 2months. It was scheduled and re scheduled 5 times with lots of different excuses. Alan’s is just a middleman that takes the order that is all. Carolina told us any complains are their responsibility. So this review is for Carolina Carports. You can not order without a middle man. But they are no help. I believe it took six months because they are short handed. If they would have just told the truth things would be different! Every time they re scheduled we took time off , So we lost a weeks pay! Based on this I will make payments stretched out six months !!!

We appreciate you reaching out. I would like to take a minute to offer some clarifications. Yes, AFO is a dealer who sells our product. They collect a commission for the sale. You placed your order on 5/29/23. You live in an area which requires site specific blueprints. Your prints were ordered from the engineer on 6/2/23 upon receipt of the order from AFO. Your plans were completed by the engineer and mailed to you on 6/30/23 which is a typical time frame for site specifics. Your order remained on hold until you had your permit. We received permit information on 9/19/23. We shipped your unit on 10/9/23, less than 1 month from the date you got your permit. The contractors were running behind due to rain. The office contacted you to let you know this and you agreed to postpone the delivery until the 10th. The contractor let you know he would be arriving late and you told them they could not work at the property that late in the day. So the crew returned home and we began working on a new schedule date. To clarify, we do not require that any customer stay on site for install. We apologize if this has been frustrating for you and we certainly do not wish to inconvenience any customer. In this case, your timeline is very accurate. If you review your contract, we do specifically list potential weather as something that may delay delivery and that is certainly beyond our control. The terms of your binding purchase agreement are payment COD. At this time, your account is delinquent. I will let our collections department know of your payment intentions although those are without cause. In this case, your account will be forwarded to our collections agency. Again, we apologize that you are frustrated and look forward to hearing from your with payment in full.

I can give you things to it won’t change the fact that it took six months. Some of what you said is a lie I never ever said they could not come that late in the day I don’t know where that came from. This is not the first lie that you told. We were contacted four times and said this is the date that is scheduled the very first day that was scheduled was a no-show no call nothing I had to call to find out what was going on. I believe that day was a Wednesday they were supposed to come finally got a hold of somebody on a Friday and they said they would be there on a Monday of course that Monday they never showed up I forget but excuse was that time. . I contacted your company several times only to get an I don’t know when the date is going to be we will let you know weeks would go by and then finally someone would call with a date. One of the excuses for not showing up was there was a trailer trouble it had nothing to do with whether. This is yet just another lie. I contacted your company to try to get after it was built we changed your mind and want to add another side not add another side close it in. Your company at that point could not even tell the truth. I was told I would have to go soon the middleman we used. I cannot call your company and speak to them about closing in the other side. We talked about this for a good 20 minutes on the phone I did not see no reason to call middleman about this. She just told me that I have to go through the middleman so they can have it scheduled properly. Yes this was just another lie. I called them up to try to get it set up for you guys to come down and do an additional side I told him you can have all the Time in the world to do it. As long as it was done by May of next year when the permit would run out. I was told that a Carolina Carports will never come back after the buildings finish. The building we bought we only close in two sides and I wanted one other side closed. I was told by Carolina Carports that they often visit this area and they try to get all their work done when they are here that’s why it took so long for them to come and do the building in the first place. So since it off and come here I did not understand why they could not come and do the other side. Carolina carports did not inform me of this the middle Man did. As far as payment goes I have the phone payment I called Carolina carports to try to set that up they refuse to do this. I feel like I deserve a discount in someway for all the lies that I was told. I said since it took six months to do the job I would make payments through six months but they refuse this. I would not recommend a Carolina Carports

I'm only giving 1 star because zero stars isn't an option. We ordered a carport October 12th through a dealer in Paducah, KY. We were told Carolina Carports would contact us within 10-14 business days to schedule our installation. Those 14 business days have passed and no one has called. We have called and left numerous messages. At one point my husband was told they can't give us an installation date and they weren't really worried about it because our order wasn't over $5,000 (although, it's within about $200 of that). At this point we're about ready to forfeit the deposit and find a company that's worth our time and money. If I could make this decision over again, I'd absolutely avoid Carolina Carports based on our experience and all of these reviews.

We certainly apologize but it would appear that you were given incorrect information through your dealership and perhaps this should be redirected. There are a few factors that come into place here. Any order placed after October 1st in a northern state is not guaranteed until Spring of the following year. We continue to service these areas as long as weather holds. Orders under $5000 do not have an estimated lead time. These are worked in as they logistically fit into routes. In addition, standard lead times for this area is 6-8 weeks. These are all long standing written policies that your dealer should be well aware of and should have shared during the purchase process. We certainly apologize if you were not made aware of these policies. I am happy to look into your account to see if there is any way to expedite your install.

Thank you for replying, and finally reaching out to my husband via phone after weeks of unreturned phone calls. It’s sad that it takes a public post to get someone moving. Maybe the dealership should have given us correct information in the first place. That doesn’t account for the information received directly from your company, or the horribly rude customer service we’ve experienced. I’m also confused as to how Kentucky is considered a northern state and how we were supposed to know that. Again, had I known A) we would be waiting until spring and B) our order wouldn’t be a priority because we only spent xxx amount of dollars, I would have never given my money to Carolina Carports.

I would never use this company again. When the installers got to the prepared site where my 73 year-old mother was. They told her that it wasn't level enough and that it would be Extra 250 to install or could reschedule For an additional 600 dollars. The site was well within their allowable parameters. After installing the carport, they also said that it needed. Extra supports that was not included in the kit and wanted an additional 150 to install them. After questioning the company about selling a incomplete cardport. They said that the sports were not needed but would not be giving a Refund that was up to the Installers. I feel the company seen my mom and know they could take advantage of her.

      Carolina Carports, Inc.

      Date: 11/14/2023

We apologize that you feel this way and can assure that CCI would never take advantage of anyone. To be clear, CCI is the manufacturer, the laborers on site are independent contractors. We do not have a physical presence on site and did not interact with anyone on site. When you initially reported your concerns our manager reached back out to you to discuss. She advised that she would speak with the contractor in question upon check in. She reviewed the photos. The photos indicate that the land was in fact off level, front to back and side to side. This is evidenced by the fact that the contractor had to dig in some areas and use the adjustment on the baserail in others. The contract does state that labor fees will apply if the crew has to perform additional labor on site. The additional support was added to the bottom of the unit due to the unit being off level. However, it appears this was overcharged by the contractor. Our manager has authorized a refund for the overage once the check in process is completed. She will reach back out once she has that information and the credit amount.

      Date: 11/14/2023

I feel the photos showed that the site was within the contracted limits. Also very happy to hear that we will be receiving a refund for the supports That you said we're not needed.

I haven’t even received my building yet, but the last few weeks of dealing with Carolina Carports has been absolutely atrocious. Originally scheduled me for October 30 and then backed me up because of some weather delays that happened somewhere else then rescheduled and back me up again only for the contractor to not even show up after I moved everything out of his way as requested by Carolina carports contract that states a penalty will be added if the contractor has to move materials more than 50 foot or would have access problems. I tried calling Carolina carports on the Saturday that the contractor did not show up and of course they’re not open to speak to anyone to figure out what is going on. You are at the mercy of the contractor who you have never met or been in contact with. I finally got in touch with somebody on Monday and they told me that the contractor said that I was not available for him to put up my building, which is obviously a huge lie. Still then, Carolina carports took four days and for me to call back every day and talk to upper management to finally schedule me a day nearly a month away from my original date of install that they are 100% responsible for screwing up. They will not throw your building on a trailer and install it unless it is above $20K so someone like me who spends an petty $10K will not be treated fairly even after getting hosed until someone else spends another $10K. They will penalize you and charge you money for the time that you waste for the contractor but will not in anyway bend the other way if they waste your time and money. This company is a good example of the American dream that creates nightmares for their American customers.

We apologize for your frustrations. We do understand that everyone's time is valuable. Each unit is site built construction, site unseen other than photos prior to arrival. For this reason, we make sure that our contract involves a notice regarding potential delays in delivery so that every customer is aware of this up front. We also do not require that our customers be on site for delivery. So long as the area is marked, the contractors can work freely until finished so as not to inconvenience our customers. It is my understanding that the contractor contacted you regarding the delays. He is stating that he explained he was delayed but had intentions to stay to complete your unit. He is stating that you all were unable to reach a time frame that you felt comfortable with. Therefore, the order did have to be placed in the next truck load. Typically, we service this area every 4-6 weeks on rotation. I do see that you have a new date for install which falls within that typical time frame. We will continue to monitor weather as we approach the install date and advise of any updates as soon as possible.

      M. G.

      Date: 11/13/2023

The contractor called me at 6:19pm on the date of installation 4 November and we agreed for him to look at the site that night so he could install that next day on 5 November. The contractor called me back at 7:38pm that same night and advised me his truck wouldn’t start and that he couldn’t make it that night or tomorrow and that he would be taking my materials back to Texas on a trailer with his truck that “won’t start”. Carolina Carports are liars and so are their contractors.

We apologize that you feel you received the wrong size. We have reviewed your contract as well as the building that was delivered. The correct size is installed. It is my understanding that this has been explained by our staff, the contractors and the dealer that you purchased from. Your order very clearly states that your leg height is 10' tall. After install, you contacted the dealer asking that we take the unit down and put up 12' legs. You explained to the dealer that your camper was sitting beside the unit and you had realized that it will not fit. Unfortunately, as the dealer has explained, we cannot take responsibility for a customer mismeasuring. It is my understanding that the dealer has pulled all signed contracts, emails and calls in order to demonstrate that you received exactly what you ordered.

The crew that put my building up was polite. You can definitely tell they rushed putting the roof on. First time it rains there are a few minor leaks coming from roof. I noticed they didn't get the screw down enough for the gasket to seal it up in alot of places. There's also a few spots where they put 2 to 3 screws all next to each other. I imagine they missed the cross brace. I've contacted carolina carports. Reading the rest of these reviews it'll be months before the damage is dealt with. They were definitely sloppy with work and clean up. I'm also missing an anchor bolt. I spent a few hours cleaning up all the screws that were strung out all over the place. I will update review if it is dealt with in a timely manner. I'll probably have to fix it myself to make sure it gets done right.
