In my entire 62 years I have rarely had such a horrific experience as with HealthyBlue NC. Nobody there seems to have a clue, they hold you forever, and never find a solution to your issue. Nor do they solve the problem before you want to jump in front of a train to make it end. Honestly people.
An impressive group of complete and perfect incompetences.
Quite a collection, you have so impressed us.
      Shake my dang head.

Horrible customer service. Unfortunately my employer moved from MA to NC and also switched BCBS from MA to NC along with the move. I need hearing aids which will cost me almost $6000 but BCBS of NC won't cover it because I'm older than 22. In MA its the law that health insurance providers cover the cost of hearing aids regardless of age, but NC has different laws. I'm dissapointed but understand BCBS of NC follows NC laws. The problem is customer service is terrible at explaining this. They keep telling me I work somewhere which I don't. If you have a choice in selecting health coverage stay far away from BCBS of NC!

Not a good first experience. I had BCBS for the first time when I got my first big job out of college. Breast cancer runs in my family and multiple family members have had it. Based on this family history, I needed to get genetic testing in order to see if I had either of the BRCA gene mutations. Nurses assured me that based off of my family history this should be covered. None of my family members out of state paid money for a blood draw to determine how high their chances of breast cancer are. So, I get my blood draw. A few weeks later I was charged almost $3000 dollars. I called multiple times over a period of months, my doctor called on my behalf and wrote them a letter detailing extensive family cancer history and they would not indicate what correct "Code" the doctor needed to put for this to be covered. After fighting for months, they sent me a new bill just shy of $1000 which was still just so much for a 1 second blood draw. In the end, I gave up but as a result of this whole ordeal I see this health insurance company as very greedy now. I am appreciative that they reduced the price but I feel I should have never even paid that, especially considering they don't know what my results were. Please just make sure you know what you'll be expected to pay out of pocket beforehand so you don't lose thousands.

BCBS has come between my relationship between me and my cardiologist. On 12/15/22 I had a FIVE YEAR follow up appointment. I made a appointment w/ Dr. Deepak Pasi located Raleigh NC. I was on time for my appt. got back to see my doctor & Dr. Pasi knowing my family history and symptoms I felt the day of the appt. ordered a nuclear stress test. It was blocked by BCBS. BCBS is managed by another company called Aim specialty group & I reached out to that company too. I have phone calls and documentation. Aim specialty group gave me a “case#” when I called back stating why is another company with a doctor I NEVER MET W/ & DOES NOT KNOW MY CIRCUMSTANCES making decisions on my health care between my cardiologist and myself it was then I was told from Aim Specialty Group to call BCBS back & ask them. So I proceeded to call Blue Cross Blue Shield sat on the phone for over 41 minutes waiting for someone to answer when I did complain and raised my voice a bit. The woman on the other side of the phone said you don’t need to raise your voice, I in return said something like this is not me returning a blouse this is health and my LIFE. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The woman who answered the phone, told me if she was unable to get in touch with a supervisor I believe 10 minutes that would be my only recourse. I waited now I was on the phone for over a hour and when the original woman came back on the phone I stated “I’ve taped and documented this whole call” she went silent & I said hello several times in the phone, I told her I’d wait 5 minutes and then I hung up. Since then this situation damaged my relationship with my cardiologist, the hospital I do not trust & ultimately has lead me to look to find new health in.? from another company more expensive & find a new cardiologist associated with another hospital. Needless to say I still feel pressure in my heart since I did have a blockage in 2018 & am afraid of having a heart attack. I it’s time for a class action lawsuit!

Employer just switched to this insurance company. So I called to additional information on how much a policy would cost. I got transferred to 5 different reps & none of them could answer my questions. I guess I WILL NOT BE SWICHING OVER INSURANCE!!!! POOR I MEAN ABSOLUTELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE ?? ??

If I could give a ZERO, I would. I have had this insurance company through two different employers in the last 10 years and BOTH TIMES, when I transferred to different insurance through a new employer, BCBS has failed to successfully terminate my health insurance. This has caused me to overpay literally TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS because of the difficulty in getting doctors to rebill and having to dig through months of medical records to submit for rebilling through my correct insurance company. During the process, I refused to pay the doctors offices (because the services rendered were, in fact, covered by my insurance) and then they were submitted to debt collections. While I realize that is the fault of the doctor's offices, the buck ultimately stops with BCBS because if they had done their jobs correctly the first time, I would not have had to experience those issues. This company should be dismantled from the ground up and any profit distributed to those like me who have been negatively and monetarily affected.

Horrible customer service. Everyone had an attitude. I was transferred multiple times and no one could deem to answer my question. If you don’t like your job that’s your problem. At least fix your attitude when helping people. We didn’t cause this.
