Horrible. Denied medically necessary medication multiple times (a process that went from June to December 2022) by people under qualified and clearly not knowing or understanding the medical diagnosis of Panhypopituitaryism.Loss of medical records sent by a specialist multiple times, Zero response to calls from the specialist, the growth hormone coordinator and myself. Every time we contacted them or the "Appeals Analyst" there was no response or she was out of the office and never returned the calls.

Heads up to all BCBSNC customers. This company has changed their healthcare reimbursement rates for thousands of healthcare providers in ** over the past few weeks without notifying their providers or customers. They also refuse to answer their provider line and are refusing to renegotiate contracts back to the agreed upon rates in provider contracts. Be prepared for your providers to jump ship from this insurance provider, since their pay was cut with no notice.

I cannot wait until BCBS-** loses the ***************** to Aetna, and their Marketplace plans over time have become so abusive and bait-and-switch expensive, all while quietly reducing benefits, they should be reported to DHHS. Im going to be doing that soon, as well as a complaint to the ****************************. But in a nutshell, all the other reviews that have commented that BCBS is a shell of its former self and now seeks only to s**** subscribers while bleeding them of their money. are absolutely correct. This is a pack of predators with a million ways of refusing responsibility for covered medical costs AND a license to offer insurance in *********************************************. Thats a miserable combination.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is an awful company. I have had this insurance for 15 years. I have made two visits to a dermatologists (about ***** and no coverage each time) and one visit to an emergency room (about ******* dollars and no coverage). This is legalized extortion from my paycheck, or at best, corporate welfare at my expense. What a scam! I would give zero stars if I could.

Awful insurance company. Untrained ignorant workers. I called about a preauthorization letter I got it the mail that stated my stress test was covered in total. I wanted to be sure that this meant no money out of my pocket. I also wanted to make sure it didnt just mean they covered it as in its covered but applied towards your deductible so I have to lay for the $3,300 for the test. Nope, idiot on the phone tells me its covered 100% and I wont have to pay for anything. Then 3 weeks later it gets processed and guess what? I am on the hook for 100% of it. Goes towards my deductible. It gets even better. If I would have known this I could have paid the doctors office the day of the stress test visit and they would have reduced my bill by 20%. Absolute incompetent idiots. Stay far away from these folks.

This is a wretched company. They do nothing to help if you file a perfectly legitimate grievance. Sadly, there are few other options in NC. The healthcare here is abominable

BCBS of NC is overstepping thier boundaries. They now think they are doctors instead of a insurance company. They are now questioning a doctors decision, so wrong and unethical. They have no right to force a subscriber to take medication they have adverse reactions to because it saves BCBS money. They also have no right to also question a doctors decision. The doctors tries to help us and treat us for a chronic illness. BCBS tries to hurt the subscriber for sheer greed by denying medication coverage. BCBS cares nothing about human being only thier profits.

BCBS NC prioritizes making money over customer health. They deliberately make processes unnecessarily cumbersome so that people don't get the healthcare they need. Nearly everything requires prior authorization, and they don't cover one single anthologist in the ********* metropolitan area on their plans. Think twice about working with them.

The decision by the State of NC to end their contract with BCBSNC for retirees in 2024 is a good decision. After years of struggling with high triglyceride levels my PCP suggested I begin taking *******. Apparently BCBS did not agree with my doctors recommendation and declined coverage for this medication. Of course they could not provide an explanation why when I called them. I assume that's the very same reason the state explained why they ditched BCBS for ***** beginning in 2025? I love it!
      Signed,
      Looking forward to the change...

We are in ******** and have company issued insurance which is BCBS of NC. I’ve never in my entire life witnessed such incompetency. My son’s provider has sent over countless pre authorizations at BCBS’s request because they just stopped filling my son’s med out of the blue after they were for a year. My provider gave me dates and times they sent them pre authorizations. They said they had nothing from my provider. Three months of this back and forth. Now they’re telling me they finally have a pre auth but now they need the clinical explanation of why he is on this particular med. MY DOCTOR SENT THIS!!! A lady named ******* said they want to know why I didn’t try other meds? Why we didn’t take conservative measures? This one was the first med we tried and it worked. I don’t know what to tell you lady! Such ignorant questions. I did take conservative measures since 4th grade and didn’t put him on an adhd med for his focus issues until HS. I’m a teacher and didn’t want him taking meds just for grade school and middle school. It’s like this company just hires warm bodies and no one even remotely wants to help you. They don’t even pretend to care. ******* in particular was questioning me and speaking over me. We are the customers lady! I’m sorry I caught you in the middle of filing your nails or something. No one wants to work at this company and no one wants to help resolve any issue. They pass the buck and then after holding 55-60 minutes the call gets dropped. You can do better BCBS of NC. My God. Where are you getting these workers? Where is this hiring pool you’re getting your people from? This is a complete joke already. Shame on you. I’ll have my husband tell his company they need to look elsewhere. I’ve never dealt with such a mess in my life before…a mess because no one there wants to work.
