I was able to have a quick word with Accounting and yes you can keep the service at only $4.95 a month. No lock-in contract, you can update anytime as well. Same access, same functionality, and they will refund back $49.95 back to your account as well. I WAS GUARANTEED A REFUND OF $49.95.     This started on Dec 6th, when Legal Templates "tested my bank account" for $1.00, but I don't remember giving them my Credit Card?? Next on Dec 13th. They took $49.95 out on my Credit Card, Today the 13th of Jan they took another $49.95 on my Credit Card !! This was supposed to be a FREE template to use, but somewhere in their fine print they claim they will bill us monthly?? But we did not authorize it. I want it STOPPED !!

    This company is a huge scam. They hide their terms of service when offering use of their service. I paid the $1.00 fee that was shown and was charged $49.95! Nowhere on the screen did it mention a monthly subscription price. When I inquired on this issue, they refused to refund me my money. This company is a joke and they are scamming people. I have never had such terrible customer service in my life. This seems to be an ongoing issue with this company. I will be taking legal action.

    This company advertises a free 7 day trial period for legal documents and then a monthly subscription plan that says can be cancelled at any time. I paid the one month of $39.95 in April 2024 and then cancelled it in May 2024. They sent me a confirmation email that the paid subscription is now cancelled, but the account is still active and in "Free" mode and I can upgrade it any time again for the monthly. They kept charging me $39.95 every month and I did not catch it until about 6 months later. I told them about it, but they gave me an excuse that they have now made a change so their billing policy is more transparent on the sign up page. THE SAME EXACT EXCUSE I see in other complaints here in the BBB. They use a template excuse to not refund people. This is a predatory practice and they know what they are doing on purpose. They send a cancellation confirmation and then hope that people don't check their statements so they can keep charging as long as they can, then use an excuse that it was my fault that I did not read some non-existent detail on their site. This has got to stop before more victims fall into their fraudulent scheme.

    Your account was charged on April 25, 2024, at 12:45 PM EST and canceled on May 14, 2024, at 3:36 PM EST. Unfortunately, since the request was not made within the required timeframe and the charge occurred last year, we are unable to process a refund.

     I am rejecting this response because:    IT MAKES NO SENSE.    From April 25 to May 14 is UNDER 30 DAYS!!!!    This just proves they don't care and are just scammers.   They sent me a cancellation notice, and then just kept charging me every month...

    The DA and any other business consumer alert entities have to look into their fraudulent activity because it looks like they continually do this and make a living off scamming people.

    They still owe me though for other months charges that were after my cancellation.  It does not matter there was another email, because the account activity and charges were the one that I received the cancellation confirmation.  The main email used was the one that had the initial charge and then the cancellation confirmation, yet they kept charging me.  This is just an excuse to not refund me all of the bogus charges.

    I found Legal templates website through a ****** search because I needed resume, cover letter etc. services in a hurry as a job that I was in the application process for needed these documents ASAP. Clicked on legaltemplates website signed up for a $1 free trial. When their website made my documents there were mistakes in my documents. **. misspelled names, missed placed sentences & missing job information so I never used their services again. That was on December 20, 2024. it says throughout our there website that you can cancel anytime. I cancelled Legaltemplates on 12/28/24. I saw in my bank account that I was charged $49.95 for a whole year subscription. One would think that if you cancel a service that they would receive a refund. Especially when the company keeps advertising CANCEL ANYTIME. Well I contact their support service through email regarding a refund some person named **** from ************************ responded to my request for a refund by saying YES WE SEE THAT YOU CANCELLED YOUR "SUBSCRIPTION" IN 12/28/24 but WE WON'T BE REFUNDING YOU THE $49.95 THAT WE CHARGED YOU FOR ONE YEAR OF SERVICE THAT YOU CANCELLED AND WON'T EVER BE USING. MAJE THAT MAKE SENSE?? I CANCELLED MY ************** TAKE $49.95 FOR A WHOLE YEAR OF CANCELLED SERVICE THAT I WON'T BE USING BECAUSE IT'S CANCELLED? THIS HAS GOT TO BE A SCAM TO STEAL $49.95 FROM PEOPLE FOR UNUSED/ CANCEL SERVICES. IF I'M NOT USING YOUR SEVICES WHY SHOULD I BE PAYING YOU?     I signed up for a free trial with LegalTemplates in mid-2023 to explore their services while preparing to launch a small business. I did not intend to continue the subscription beyond the trial, but the subscription converted to a paid plan without my knowledge, and I was charged $359.55 over multiple months starting in July 2023.The company failed to provide proper notification. I received one email confirming the subscription, but it landed in my spam folder. I never received monthly receipts or notifications, leaving me unaware of the charges until much later.When I contacted LegalTemplates in August 2023, they initially denied the charges, delaying resolution and adding confusion. Later, they acknowledged the charges but cited a 30-day refund limit, which I had no way of knowing about due to their lack of communication. They offered a partial refund of $39.95, which I declined as insufficient, and then withdrew the offer entirely, now refusing to issue any refund.These unexpected charges disrupted my business budget, making it harder to allocate resources during a critical time. Their practices show a lack of transparency and disregard for consumers. Their initial denial of charges, failure to notify me properly, and withdrawal of even a partial resolution reflect deceptive and unfair practices.I am seeking a full refund and accountability for their inadequate communication and billing policies. Any help with this would be much appreciated, thank you!

    Thank you for responding to my complaint. However, I must respectfully reject your explanation citing a 30-day refund policy for the following reasons:

    - Failure to Provide Notification and Transparency: The initial email confirming my subscription landed in my spam folder and went unseen. Furthermore, LegalTemplates failed to send monthly billing statements or receipts, as is standard practice for subscription services. Under the Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act (ROSCA) and related consumer protection laws, businesses engaging in automatic renewals are required to clearly disclose the terms of the subscription and provide customers with a simple, conspicuous mechanism to cancel. Regular notification of recurring charges is considered a best practice to ensure transparency and compliance with these principles.

    - Incorrect Initial Response: When I first contacted LegalTemplates after discovering the charges, I was told that my account did not have a subscription tied to it. This incorrect information delayed my ability to address the issue directly with your company and forced me to contact my bank for assistance which further delayed the process.

    - Your Obligation to Ensure Delivery of ******************* According to ************************ guidelines, businesses are responsible for ensuring customers receive adequate notifications, particularly for billing and recurring charges. An email landing in spam does not absolve your company of its responsibility to notify me in a manner I am likely to see. Failure to ensure effective communication of key details is not the customers fault.

    - Failure to Act in Good Faith: While your policy may reference a 30-day refund limit, this does not account for the circumstances of this case. Your communication failures, lack of transparency, and initial denial of the charges directly prevented me from resolving this matter sooner.

    The lack of proper communication and your team's incorrect initial response reflect poor business practices and unfair treatment of customers. I request that you reconsider issuing a refund based on the facts and timeline I have provided.

    We had signed up for a free trial back in late October. Used it for a few days and cancelled. Found a charge for it last month as decided that was probably the end of billing cycle on it. Just received another bill AGAIN for *****. Went back to the website and it still showed my account as ACTIVE even AFTER unsubscribing back in the beginning. Just, once again, unsubscribed. Logged back in and what do you know? I can still log into the account. Seems impossible to cancel. I have the same complaint that everyone else here does. This is a predatory business model.
