I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 laptop from Lenovos website for $633.42 on November 7, 2024. Today (June 27, 2025), only over seven months later, the left display hinge fractured and separated from the chassis during routine opening. The device has never been dropped or mishandled and has always been used carefully.I called Lenovo Customer Support today and was told that this issue is classified as physical or accidental damage and is therefore not covered under my warrantydespite being a manufacturing defect manifesting under normal use. Lenovo stated that a repair would be billable, which is utterly unfair and contrary to my reasonable expectations under the one-year standard warranty.A simple online search shows widespread reports of identical hinge failures dating as early as 2021, with multiple Lenovo forum threads and Reddit posts: A user had a hinge fail after just five months of light use (February to July 2021) ************************************************ Others reported hinge breakages around two years in, around ******** Lenovos own support forums recognize hinge breaks on multiple IdeaPad 5 models, going back as far as ******** (**********)This clearly indicates a systemic design or manufacturing defect rather than accidental or customer-induced damage. Yet ********************** continues to sell these models, deny warranty service, and force customers to pay for parts and labor. This is misleading, unfair, and harmful to American ************ a U.S. retired veteran relying on this laptop for training and professional use, I request Lenovo either (a) repair my laptop free of charge under warranty, or (b) replace it with a comparable unit. Additionally, I ask for written confirmation acknowledging that hinge failures under normal use are considered a defect and covered under warranty.Business Response

I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRLS laptop in December 4th 2023, as a gift to myself and after so much research on this computer. In December 2024 - used last on December 2nd - the screen stopped working entirely. The laptop still powers on, and I can hear system sounds, but the display remains black and unusable.I took the device to uBreakiFix (an authorized Lenovo repair provider), who held it for approximately six months (until June 23rd 2025) and ultimately reported that the laptop was not repairable. They confirmed it was not due to physical damage or user error.I contacted ********************** customer service and explained the situation, requesting a goodwill repair or assistance given that this appears to be a common issue with this model and occurred just past the warranty expiration. Unfortunately, Lenovo refused to provide any support or options, even after ************* a consumer, I expect a premium laptop to last well beyond one year, especially without any accidental damage. The timing and nature of the failure suggest a manufacturing defect, not normal wear and tear.I am requesting that Lenovo:Either replace the laptop free of charge as a goodwill gesture, OR Reimburse the purchase amount if the device is determined to be unrepairable due to hardware failure.I attached the screenshots of the service from ubreakifix with the time stamps and service they tried to do.Business Response

Im filing this complaint due to Lenovo delivering one of the most appalling and deceptive customer service experiences Ive encountered from a major tech company. I own a Lenovo gaming laptop under an active on-site warranty that Lenovo has effectively refused to honoropting instead to deflect blame onto me and avoid responsibility. When I contacted support for an issue (the second time with this unit), I was first trapped in a broken automated system. Once I reached a human, I faced language barriers and representatives more interested in blaming me than investigating. The worst part: before seeing my device or sending a technician (as my warranty promises), they accused my aftermarket RAM of causing the issue. Ive worked in electronics for ******** and **************** know this isnt a valid or ethical way to assess a hardware failure. Lenovos remote diagnosis was baseless and clearly intended to dodge warranty service.I was eventually referred to a technician in the ********* area, who turned out to be a private contractor working from homenot what I expected from a global brand. On top of that, the loud, staticky hold music was wildly inappropriate given the nature of my ******** demanding accountability. Lenovo has attempted to sidestep its warranty obligations by blaming the user without evidence, offering inadequate support, and refusing to dispatch proper service. This is deceptive, consumer-hostile behavior.I request a formal apology, a qualified technician sent under my warranty, and an internal review of how Lenovo handles supportespecially regarding blame-shifting and warranty evasion.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 23503525.I am accepting the resolution at this time, with the understanding that the repair is still underway. I want to express my appreciation for Terry McCarthy's prompt and understanding response, which stands in stark contrast to how my case was initially handled by Lenovo's general customer service.
While I did experience significant frustration and delays prior to this escalation, I am satisfied with the corrective actions Mr. McCarthy has taken so far and hopeful the remainder of the repair process will proceed smoothly. Thank you for addressing my concerns seriously.Sincerely,

My laptop is still under the initial 12-month warranty and is unusable. The warranty states there is next business day on-site repairs but this is false. I have spent hours on the phone with tech support, completed all troubleshooting and factory resets and still do not have a working laptop. The next business-day service would have been on Friday, but they made me repeat all of the steps on Friday and did not even put in the work order until after 5pm. I have already lost 2 days of work and now cannot work this weekend. I asked if the on-site repair would be Monday and was told no, it would take a few days to get the work order approved, then they have to order the part, process the part order, ship the part, the technician has to go get the part from the drop-off location, THEN theyll call to schedule the repair. I can not run my business without a working computer. The warranty clearly states that it included next-business day repairs which was why I selected this laptop, but is untrue. At this point the laptop needs to be replaced immediately, with overnight shipping. I can not keep a business running waiting weeks for a part and repair.Business Response

Purchased Lenovo laptop computer which experienced numerous issues while still under warranty, including frequent freezes, a screen crack that occurred without any misuse, and ultimately failing to even turn on. Each of these issues occurred at a different time and I continued to use the machine without seeking repair until the unit would not turn on. Despite being covered by the warranty and being faulty in numerous ways covered by the warranty, lenovo has refused to repair unless we pay for the cost of a new LCD or to refund us.Business Response

Order Number: ********** I received this M9 tablet today and was setting it up and noticed that the warranty is saying that it is out of warranty. I registered the device but same thing. I called customer care and the woman I spoke with was rude and told me that I had to email your warranty department about this. This is a brand new device and it should have a warranty. I asked for a supervisor and she said the supervisor would tell me the same thing. While on hold for 10 minutes, she finally came back and said the supervisor was busy but that she would email the warranty department about this. I am not holding my breath. This is my first order with Lenovo and so far I am disapointed.Business Response

I'm filing a complaint about lenovo in regards to a repair ticket ********** for my laptop Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H - Type 83F5 serial PF55S3KM. I sent this in around a month ago now, they claim that it didn't reach their service center and since escalated to someone named **** who comes off as generally rude and disinterested. This is proven now with this statement below I received. I doubt any research is put into this issue as I'm simply trying to repair my laptop yet magically they don't have it and simultaneously aren't attempting to locate it or have the carrier find this if that is the issue? This is absolutely ridiculous and this is a terrible company. I trust them to honor my warranty yet somehow they fail to do this simple task and ask a ridiculous amount of information no one would have, this is a gift I have no receipt for this and as far as photos of my device, why would I have those? This is an attempt by Lenovo to steal my laptop or at the least to be completely negligent and allow my laptop to go missing with 0 support or responsibillity on their end. I demand this be resolved by locating the supposed "not received" laptop I shipped them via the box they sent me, or replaced if they are being honest in that they lost it. I do not wish to speak to this **** ****** any longer, it's obvious they don't care about their job or the customers at ********************** who spend their hard earned money on their products, this is clear reading complaints that aren't resolved."We have researched your claim in depth and while we did receive a drop off receipt, we did not receive any photos of the device prior to shipping or a copy of your proof of purchase. Some of the information discovered within the case does not match our internal records for the serial number in question and at this time we are not able to issue any replacement or reimbursements. The claim will be closed at this time. "Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
They are saying nonsense without providing any information. They are simply stating they didn't receive it yet it was shipping using the label they provided me. They aren't returning my laptop or contacting the carrier in the case they didn't receive it. They are stealing my laptop from me!
