State Employee Credit Union (SECU) has been reporting to my credit file that I have 3 accounts with SECU that are in collections and past due. I made initial contact with the business on March 8th 2023, in letter (certified mail returned receipt), demanding them to substantiate the validity of the debt. SECU received and signed the letter March 10th at 9:56 AM. SECU failed to provide me with a copy of any viable evidence, bearing my signature, showing the account is being reported accurately. Please see exhibits in attachments.I have written to SECU on three separate dates requesting to validate the debt. In return SECU has responded without any validation what so ever, but insist on requesting I put my current address on the accounts that I am disputing. State Employees Credit Union is in violation of the **** and FDCPA, therefore, if SECU cannot validate the debt, they must request for all reporting agencies delete the entry. State Employee Credit Union, violated NYCRR 23 Section 1.4 (B) Which says, A debt collector must provide the consumer written substantiation of a charged-off debt within 60 days of receiving a request for substantiation of the debt and must cease collection of the debt until written substantiation has been provided to the consumer. State Employee's Credit Union statement to the effect is that it could not disclose as it sent the information to another address with a request to update the address is of no moment. I have no association or knowledge of what address SECU is referring to. Moreover, the law states the creditor (SECU) Must provide the information upon request and does not give allowances to excuses to deny the request.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I don't agree to waiting for another investigation if SECU has already investigated. If this isn't resolved within 2 weeks I will escalate this matter to court at my local venue.

My wife's Amazon account was hacked and a purchase was made in the amount of $489.98 on 5/2. We followed all the necessary procedures with Amazon & also filed a police report the same day. We were told by Amazon we would need to speak with our bank about getting our money back as they are unable to do it. I contacted my local branch on 5/4 (we were told we had to wait until the purchase showed up on our activity log) and advised them of what happened. They filed a dispute on my behalf and were told we would be issued a provisionary credit & that the matter would be resolved in 10 business days. Today is the 10th business day and we have not received any update. I communicated with SECU via the online baking and was told it would be an additional 3-5 business days for the Fraud team to process our case and if needed, a provisional credit will be issued. This is not acceptable as we were told the matter would be resolved within 10 business days. We are victims of hacking/fraud and our bank could care less. I have been a member with SECU since I was 18 years old and I have never had any issues. Now, I have 0 faith in SECU.Business Response

I have a mortgage with State Employee"s Credit Union since 2014, and within the last couple of years I have been having some personal problems to include domestic violence, the birth of my third baby during the pandemic, loosing my job during the pandemic and becoming a single mother within the last year. I still managed to make all my payments the best I could with the resources I had. Last year I was in the hospital, and a shelter, and had to move due to the domestic violence case, and starting in April or May of 2022, I missed a payment. After this I contacted SECU to see if they could help me during these difficult times, but I was told I did not qualify for any of the programs available at the time. I kept insisting since I was having a very difficult time and was finally offered some program but in order to qualify I needed to be on default. So I missed a payment again during this time, and was put in the program for six months. After this, I stop at my local branch and sign a document stating that I completed the program and was resuming the regular mortgage. At these point I have been able to return to work at the VA ********* and have been trying to get back on my feet. I'm trying to do a cash out refinance on this property but when I checked my credit it went down over 100 points. I was able to request a copy of my credit report and it shows the mortgage with 9 late payment starting in May 2022, and ending in February of this year. I immediately contacted SECU and was told that they cannot remove these because I was at fault. These was not part of the agreement, or at least I did not read anything about reporting late payments on my credit for 9 months. I only had 1 late payment and then the second was done in order to qualify for the program. I would like to have my credit fixed in order to restore my credit and be able to refinance my home. I was also denied possible help, due to my circumstances but I feel like my bank did not provide me with options.Business Response

I was behind on a couple of payments for the first time back around august of last year. I spoke to a loan officer about this and they said that I could help get caught up on those two by paying extra towards them when I paid my bill each month. Since then I have been paying extra almost every month. Mind you, the amount that I owed back then was around $680 because my bill is $341 and I missed two payments. Ive already paid that with extra payments, at least I thought until I was told otherwise today. The last payment I made in March, I gave the teller $400 and asked her to put the amount remaining towards the amount that I owe on the missed payment from last year. She went on to say that I only had to pay $300 because I was all paid up and only owed that for this month. I was so happy to know that I finally paid the balance down. Then I got a voicemail from the credit union so I asked about that this time while paying the balance for ****** The lady now said that I am one month behind still. Theres absolutely no way. I spoke to the manager and she said all the money Ive paid extra hasnt gone towards the missed payment, just the loan total. I am very frustrated because I have been told several different things. A couple of times I was told that I owed $140 to be caught up, so I came back later that month and paid that. Then again another month because I was told that twice. Then, like I said, last month I was told that I was all caught up. Now they are saying that Im a month behind again?! The manager called me and said she was going to try to push two payments out to the end of the loan term, but my main concern is how that is looking on my credit. I used to have good credit, but this whole ordeal has knocked it down dramatically. It is now showing that Ive been behind for 7 months. This is false and I have proof. I missed those 2 payments last year and I have been working hard to make up for that. My hard work has just gone down as another interest charged payment. I can send over the history.Business Response
