Nelnet has indicated they have done "due diligence" to contact me. I have looked at my phone logs for the past 6 months and not one call from them. My phone number has been the same for the last 25 years. I submitted disability discharge application in early summer, they indicate they have no record of it. They also indicate they can't take a new copy of those forms because Nelnet is no longer allowed to manage that service and it is going to a new servicer which will not be up and running until at lease April. They reported delinquencies and will not reverse those until I can provide proof of the documents submitted. I had a perfect credit score until this. This loan was also assigned to my ex in a divorce decree. This does not seem legal since they are not able to take the disability documents now.

The person who took my call today was a pervert. I believe his name was David.
This phone call happened around 245-250pm today 2/21.
He was asking me my student ID and other intro questions and when I went to answer I heard him whispering things like "come on baby" and then another time about "eating *****" as I was trying to talk and give the information.
It happened twice and then I yelled asking if he was saying nasty stuff to me and he said "oh no I'm sorry I was talking to my girlfriend."
      This is absolutely unacceptable!!!

Communication has been absolutely terrible for payments resuming. Yes, this is my debt, I owe. I’m not asking for a hand out. But to absolutely destroy someone’s credit? How does this help anyone in this drowning economy? I am in the process of buying a home and now will not be able to due to Nelnet. This is not customer service. They basically told me there is nothing they can do to remove the past due on my credit. There has to be something that can be done for all of these Nelnet customers. I have worked over 10 years to have a good credit score; you cannot do anything without credit. Now, in one day, it’s all destroyed. The whole process is a scam!!! Do better Nelnet, this is our livelihood! Payments resuming, we should have received proper notification, as well as being able to set up our payments(that people can still afford to live after). I’m just now today after research hearing about the SAVE program. This was never offered, nor did I receive any info. Now it’s too late to apply. Someone needs to hold these people accountable.

When Great Lakes stopped managing my student loan, that was the beginning of nothing but a hassle. This P.O.S. company forces you to call them for help on everything. Their website is useless, and they got rid of their app. (Probably for the same reason, you can't DO anything with it anyways!) A lot of this stuff you had the autonomy to do yourself with Great Lakes. For example: Making all your different semester loans due on the same day. Setting up autopay, (while you are in grace or forbearance.) The kicker about that last one, is that Nelnet can't even manage to do that for you, they *force* you to wait. Sure, you can do manual payments, but they're banking on people who probably won't manage it effectively. You're in school after all, and in some cases, you also work full-time. On top of that, it's not *actually* due yet, so it's not screaming for your attention. It's just looming over your head, accruing interest that has *nothing* to do with your education. That way Nelnet can really squeeze the most interest profit out of you. I get that *some* people want students to be responsible for the education money they spend on loans, but what they fail to understand is it's these loan servicers taking advantage of people that is the problem! Getting an education doesn't give Nelnet (or anyone else) the right to be predatory. Especially since it's usually 18-year-old kids taking out these loans! Guess what? When interest rates skyrocketed everywhere post-Covid, so did student loans! My last loan before I graduated was over 7% And for what!? It's for nothing other than taking advantage of students. Stay vigilant folks. Make manual payments even in your grace period, and make more than the minimum payment each month. Protect yourself. No one else in corporate America is going to do it. That's an absolute fact.

Reporting inaccurate information on my credit report and continuing to add more balance to the account.

Horrible customer service. Website and emails do not align with payment amounts. Conflicting statements between customer service representatives. Supervisors aren’t available for escalations.

My account was supposed to be in forbearance due to the legal battle with loan forgiveness, which means my loans should not be accruing interest. I thought I would take advantage of the 0% and pay down any existing interest. I didn't see an option to pay interest only online, so I called Nelnet's Customer Service to inquire about how to make sure the payment was correctly applied to the interest on my account. The agent told me my annual renewal did not go through in April and that I needed to do it again. I informed her I got a confirmation saying it was done and asked if she was sure I needed to redo the renewal. She said yes. So, I followed her instructions and redid the renewal.

On my July statement (before the forbearance), I owed $X amount. I paid half of that amount one month and was going to pay the other half the next month when I noticed the 2nd amount had gone up. I called CS, and the agent said it was because I did a renewal after the forbearance started. I advised her it was because their agent told me to do so! She said she could submit something to the loan department to get my account reviewed. A month later, the interest was still accruing. I called in again and was told this was a known issue. The agent submitted another loan review request about the interest. Today, I called in again. The interest doesn't appear to have accrued since the last time I spoke with them, but there is still a balance when it should not be because I overpaid the amount shown on my July statement. The agent again said it was a known issue and that Nelnet should resolve it in January. So, if this is a known issue, why hasn't Nelnet sent letters notifying customers of the problem and saying they are working on it? It appears they are hoping people don't notice this so they can fraudulently get more money out of people. If you have a loan with them, check your records. You may be charged for interest that you don't owe!

Nelnet doesn't even deserve a star. What an absolute joke working with their so-called "Knowledgable staff" are a bunch of brain-dead idiots. Locked out of my account due to the email address I used as my log in and to create the account was deactivated by Yahoo and no longer in existence. since 2019 I have stated this and each time they tell me to do a password reset. So how does that work when I don't have access to that email any more? Then to make it worse I am hearing impaired and can only do email, text or chat yet they still say I need to call them. Having someone talk on my behalf is even worse because they will not give me any information about my account let alone answer any questions. They won't even deactivate the old account so I can make a new one because my SSN is still tied to the old account. Since 2019 I have gotten no where.

I would love to know how information was given to Nelnet when I never had a loan for my education. Now I get emails multiple times a week stating I’m late on a payment. Can’t get ahold of anyone because my information “doesn’t match” their system. None of your information is safe. Know what you accept through FASFA.

Nelnet’s advisors lied to me several times and told me that I did not have to make any payments on my account until 5/20/2025, 6 months after i graduate. I was told about the may payment due date on January 16, 2024 and on October 17, 2024 by Blessing the advisor. I graduate tomorrow, and was just told by Naomi that I received a 6 deferment(grace period meaning they are saying I already graduated) put on me in January 2023 when i was a full time student and I was told by Namomi today December 13,2024 that I’m only allowed to have one deferment period. I never received an actual deferment in reality because I was a full time student at JMU at the time. This companies advisors will not be honest with you and they are not out to help you at all! Every day that you are late they charge $.84 a day. I am being discriminated against and robbed by this company! Do not use.
