I think that the customer service representatives try their best to be helpful, but there are many glitches with this company. I submitted my IDR/SAVE application in May. A few weeks later, a popup appeared on my dashboard notifying me that my application was received & they would let me know when it was processed. In July, the courts put a hold on SAVE repayment plans. In August, I received a bill from Nelnet. I thought it was a mistake, so let it pass. In September, I received a notice that I had missed 2 payments, & my credit score dropped (I had lowered my credit card repayment amount, so that may have been a factor). I called, and a (very nice) representative looked into it for me, ultimately saying that it was an administrative error - that although I had that pop-up on my screen saying it was received (I still do), he couldn't find it on his end anywhere. He recommended I use my hardship forbearance, which I was loathe to do, as you are only granted 12 months of this for the life of your loan, & I would rather save that in case of a true emergency (not their administrative error). They recommended I call the federal government program, which I did, and they recommended I fill out an IDR/IBR application with Nelnet. I am mailing that application in today, worried that I have found myself in a loop. I then called Nelnet again, asking when I might expect to receive a notification that my IDR/IBR application would be processed. The representative to me that these were being paused as well. I asked her if I could switch from my personal hardship forbearance to administrative forbearance, which the first Nelnet rep had informed me about. She said that I had to do that with the enrollment processing department. I asked for their number, and she said that they didn't have one. She then advised me to call back and ask to speak to 'a higher up'. I asked if there was a certain department I should speak with, and she said, 'No. just a higher up'. I miss Great Lakes.

The website constantly tells me my password is incorrect, it breaks on loading and restarts constantly. Today in 4 hours alone I have received 10 emails from them claiming my repayment starts in Jan. while I'm still in school until May. Along with the fact that every single email had a different dollar amount, so I don't think their system even knows what's going on. I can't get an email through ever to figure out what's going on and the phone lines are only open while I'm in class or working.

If I could leave a 0 I would. Nelnet repeatedly rejects payments siting my bank as the issue. Every single month it takes me numerous attempts to get a payment to successfully process. I have confirmed with my bank on each occasion that no attempt was ever made by Nelnet. I complained to Federal Student Aid who simply contacted Nelnet and accepted the ridiculous excuse they've been using. Obviously they are either deliberately doing this to collect additional interest or they are simply not equipped to deal with the volume of payments they need to process. Either way they should not be allowed to service loans.

Their website never loads. I have tried to load it on 3 different browsers and several different computers. How much money do they need to make to make their shit work. No wonder people default using them, you cannot even pay if you want to.

Horrible. I wish Great Lakes never transferred services! The website has constant issues and limited capability. What’s worse is how nobody you call ever knows what’s going on.

Nelnet has been declining my payments for 6 months straight while allowing it to accrue interest. I've spoke with my bank, who stated the declined payment is not on their end.

Nelnet is claiming that I have taken out a student loan and I am not making payments. I am 72 years old, My wife is 67 years old. I have 1 daughter who is 37 years old. We have not taken out a student loan thru Nelnet and do not have an account with them. I have explained this to them thru multiple emails. They have requested more personnel information from me which I am not going to provide. I consider this to be a fraudulent claim against senior citizens. If this continues, I anticipate this situation to ruin our perfect credit rating
I would like to pursue this matter until I receive a satisfactory resolution

Nelnet is not updating payments for borrowers timely within 24 hours of payments. Loans paid in full had straggling pennies on account in order to continue collection DAILY interest charges. To make matters worse, the updates to credit reporting agencies isn't always done as told by the end of the month. Instead Nelnet will do incrementally.

Department of Banking NEEDS to fine with penalties on illegal banking practices and fraud through deceit, and so much more.

This needs to be reported on.

Nelnet is charging those students that received notices their loan would be forgiven by the Biden Administration because of the fraudulent activities at the Art Institute. Nelnet sent letters claiming these loans would go into forbearance until July 5. Now these borrowers received notices they would placed back into a regular repayment schedule. We contacted Nelnet and they claimed they did not receive instructions beyond the July 5 forbearance from the Borrowers Defense. They are claiming there is nothing they can do however other loan companies have already forgiven these individuals yet Nelnet is trying to make money from these poor students who were already defrauded. I will provide you all the facts but this NEEDS to be made public. It’s the duty of this organization to ensure people are credible and doing things legally which Nelnet is not.

I hope you will fact check and post this story.

I have been advised by now that representatives on the rare occasion I could sit on hold for the lengthy duration to speak with a person that I don’t need to pay more than the minimum amount. This advice would increase my loan balance overtime due to ridiculous interest charges. Whenever I seem to try to make extra payments to bring my balance down, there’s almost always an issue with their two factor authentication system. It states it cannot generate a code for me. When I try to contact someone it sends me to a robot chat that does nothing except tell me how to reset my password, but the website won’t let me or direct me to call where I have to sit on hold sometimes for hours and otherwise I just have to wait a few days while interest continues to before I can apply extra money into my loan. It is absolutely ridiculous.
