I would sooner trust a pack of rabid wolves to babysit my infant child than to trust Nelnet to handle a single dollar. Nelnet is the parasite of the financial world, sucking the lifeblood out of unsuspecting victims with their predatory schemes and soul-crushing incompetence. Their policies are a twisted maze designed to trap you in a never-ending cycle of debt and despair. Customer service? More like customer disservice, where your cries for help are met with disdain and indifference. If you enjoy being fleeced by heartless corporate vultures, then by all means, cozy up to Nelnet. But if you have an ounce of self-preservation, avoid them like the plague and preserve what little dignity you have left.

You really need to keep an eye on your loans, they will try to accrue more interest on your loans through deceptive tactics. I have been repaying my loans since the pandemic forbearance ended and had no issues for 6-7 months. I have been on autopay to take advantage of the interest rate reduction they offer. For some reason they had 3 of my loans not due for the month of April and 2 others were due, so they took less money than the agreed upon autopay amount. In doing this more interest would accrue on those loans that magically were not due for April. They will not let you get ahead on your loans while on autopay, they will adjust which loans are due with no answer as to why when you call. If you ever change your payment plan type they will automatically defer your loans for a month, accruing more interest. They will do everything they can to maximize how much interest you pay them over the course of your loan. I've never had to keep such a close eye on any debt on autopay as I have had to with Nelnet. I've had to make manual payments just to keep every loan paid and avoid unnecessary deferments.

NelNet is a predatory student loan business who does not take into account a person’s basic needs expenses when calculating a monthly loan payment. I am being forced to choose between feeding myself and paying off my loans.

Nelnet has the most incompetent customer service and the worst student loan company ever. I've been making payments on multiple loans Oct 2023; in late Feb my child's “Spring 24” federal loan was hit for pymt. I immediately called Nelnet to inquire about my acct. I originally called on 3/06 & 3/08 requesting to defer her loan; was told that it would be taken care of and should be reflected on the acct in a week. That didn’t happen. Called back on 3/14, spoke to CSR Theresa (absolutely clueless) stating it is in the process and should reflect on my acct in a week. Called back on 3/25 and now spoke to CSR Gerry (a little more helpful); she initiated the process by contacting the school for verification. Once again, I was told it should show on the acct and the loan will be deferred. Well, called on 4/04, spoke to CSR Chillisa (scatterbrain); asked her what process my loan was at and she couldn’t answer me other than the loan will reflect on the acct in a week. At this point, I requested to speak to her manager (who is a glorified Customer Service Representative); was transferred to Sandra (arrogant and egotistical), she stated that they received an Acknowledgment letter from my daughter's college saying she is a FT student on 3/25. Yet Sandra kept repeating herself and said she would escalate my request and would reflect on my account before my due date (4/20). So, I waited & the loan showed deferred. After making my pymt, I received an email stating my account was past due; called back on 4/22, spoke to Rebecca and before she could read off her cue card, I asked to speak to a Superior and not her Acct Mgr. However, I was transferred to her Acct Mgr, Avery (who’s a guy, has a bigger egotistical arrogant personality). Avery said he would escalate my case and it should be taken care of in 14 business days because they are short-handed. Now I wait for this incompetent company to fix my account as they are hurting my credit score.

I have gotten letters in the mail telling me that my daughter has an account with them. I had ask my daughter about she said that she don’t an account with them. Also, she still is in school. So that means she doesn’t have to pay it off yet.

I will be going for lawsuit after Nelnet for total incompetent employees. I submitted income driven application over the phone in July 2023, was told approved for one year. I got a bill in September, called a manager, said it was approved but delayed. I received emails saying they have my application. I'm now getting bills. I called to hear it was submitted but not on system they still use. Then told an application was never submitted and I have to resubmit one. I told her this is unacceptable and I shouldn't have to when I've done everything I'm supposed to do and because of their incompetent employees I'm being penalized for it. I originally started this 3 yrs ago when Biden announced help. Almost a year later I'm back to square one. They refuse to acknowledge their mistakes and causing me additional stress and time wasted to resubmit paperwork once again. How can they send me emails saying my application was submitted, being reviewed, been approved yet now it's oh I'm sorry but we have no application. Wtf were they reviewing and approving if there was no application. I will be filing formal complaint to Attorney general, our state senator and seeking legal representation to start a class action lawsuit against thee most incompetent sickening student loan company ever. The mental stress they have caused me and thousands of others is unacceptable. I have emails from them yet this lady made me feel I'm wrong. This company needs to be held responsible for their mistakes, incompetent work ethics. They are disgusting and I will not let this lie because the BS they have told me and done, I flat out refuse to tolerate. I believe the white house should respond as well. News stations should be involved. I demand answers for the stupid idiots they have working there.

Do I have missed payments? Yes. Is it because I don’t want to make them? NO! Their website never works. I am constantly clicking around just trying to get to the payment page and it never works. I’m convinced they do this on purpose so you accumulate more interest. I wish my student loan was still with Great Lakes.
