      I've had dental insurance through these crooks for almost 10 years, and each time I attempt to use it, I am told they underpaid what they said they would or weren't communicating with my dentist. I was sold their fraudulent insurance with the assurance I could use it "anywhere", and when 4 dental offices either had issues getting payment from them or couldn't get anything, I finally went to their network list and found a good office nearby. After my first several visits, even this office told me there were multiple issues with this company getting back to them, paying the claims, etc.
      I have paid nearly 4 grand in monthly payments to these criminals, and more than that to the offices they've been shorting. Whenever I try to cancel my policy, they tell me I need to "fax" a confirmation of cancellation. I don't own a fax machine, who does anymore?
      I haven't used anywhere near the amount I paid into them despite my best efforts, and I've been denied emergency dental care so many times due to this company. I have a mind to sue for the years of dental pain I've had to endure because of your inability to keep good rapport with your clients and your network!

      For over 120 years, Physicians Mutual has focused on taking great care of customers, earning us a 95% Customer Satisfaction Rating. We are sorry to hear we have not met your expectations. To address your specific claim concerns, we will need to work with you directly for privacy reasons; however, an explanation of general insurance operations may help address a few of your questions.

      Our dental policies do not restrict customers to a network. Instead, we highly recommend considering and using network providers, as customers realize an average savings of 36% in the billed amount when doing so. This limits your out of pocket expenses. However, Physicians Mutual pays up to the amount shown in the schedule of benefits whether you choose a network provider or not. Many providers will file claims for you, though you can also file claims directly with us.

      To protect customers from unintended loss of coverage, we do ask for a signed cancellation request. However, we will gladly stop any automated premium withdrawals with a simple telephone call or notification. If you choose, the policy can be allowed to lapse with no other action needed.

      Horrible experience dealing with Debbie in claims. As far as I'm concerned she should not be in the position she is in. My mother had 2 policies and she refused to pay out the one policy to the funeral home due to an issue with a family member. Instead of paying out these policies and letting us settle things in court she is allowing the one family member that changed the policies send in all kinds of receipts and saying she would have to pay this family member for what she "bought". This family member tried hiding this insurance policy so she could keep the entire money for herself. My mother passed Nov 6 and to this day March 19 she has still not released these policies saying it'll have to go to court. Nothing but games and going round and round with Debbie.

      Called the 18 times to cancel a senior dental policy after my father's death almost 2 months ago. Mail in a death certificate to the PO Box but they are still. Withdrawing from his account.
      Their phone hangs up on 12:00 into a 15:00 minute hold every time.
      They answer in 6 seconds if you are calling the sales line.
      No way to get a hold of anyone to cancel
      Hope their life insurance is better.

      Talked to a guy named Larry I think from Nebraska about Life Insurance and told him upfront I'm doing some comparison shopping, regarding either Term or a Whole Life Policy. After he asked me a series of questions, and I told him I would get back with him after checking out other Agencies. He then asked me how I wanted to pay, and again I told him I'm checking others for what I requested from him. He then proceeded to tell me "I wasted 20minutes of his time". I assured him I would call back with him if I liked what he offered, and left a couple of messages and he never got back with me. First off I was "upfront", second I didn't appreciate his "comment about wasting his time", third I did call and left a couple of messages, but after checking another Agency I decided to go with State Farm who had a better deal anyways and didn't demand a payment after going over questions that were answered. Overall Larry: I think you're a piece of trash and hope you read this!

      Physicians Mutual is scamming elderly into paying more into a policy than it is even worth. My mother has paid close to $15,000 for a policy with a face value of $10,000. How is this even legal? I spoke with two customer service representatives and they could not even articulate why this was legitimate. What a horrible scam.

      Although we are not able to share individual details in this response for privacy reasons, we are able to answer general life insurance questions. Life insurance premium rates are based on a host of factors, including: the policy face amount, age of applicant, whether the policy is guaranteed without answering health questions vs. underwritten, term life vs. whole life, participating vs. non-participating, as well as other considerations and product features. Policies can have a paid up feature; however, many policies require premiums during the time the coverage is in force. Some policies build cash value and may even have non-forfeiture options for those unable to afford the premium any longer or who have changing insurance needs.

      Please have someone who is party to the contract give us a call so we may look up the policy details and explain the options available for the policy(s) you are referring to.

      I would give 4 stars however the last two times I have tried to pay my monthly premium online I received a notice from my bank "transaction declined (date&time) BY Physicians Mutual Life Insurance NE US because the merchant had a verification issue. Please contact the merchant" Im to OLD and live on a tight social security budget to WORRY & figure out why this is. My life insurance & medical & medicine are three bills I make sure I pay even if that means NO groceries. SO, when I make an online payment for my Physicians Life Insursnce Premium I do not expect a Declined Transaction by THE Merchant. Also, If the Merchant is going to decline my transaction DON'T send CONFIRMATION emails UNTIL the TRANSACTION is actually ACCEPTED by the bank.

      I was with this company for more than 5 years and they kicked me out in January and said I didn't pay November 2023. I am 73 years old and if I didn't pay I should have been made aware and given the opportunity to pay. I'm sure that if they checked they would have found it was probably paid with December. I think as a long time customer I should have been given more consideration instead just being kicked out. Now I'm having to look for dental insurance to replace my dental coverage. Not right...

      Physicians Mutual dental policies have a grace period of at least 31 days beyond the due date, during which premiums can still be paid. Additionally, we send required late notices on all policies before coverage ends. Lastly, we maintain records of all correspondence sent and premiums received. Please give us a call and we will gladly review your payment history with you and share all dates correspondence was sent.

      After coming on this site it does not surprise me that 1/5 rating. Customer service doesn't care can't answer a question and misleads. Ask for a supervisor and the girl tells me about their standards which are only convenient to them and not the customer so they can procrastinate paying out a policy. Then she tells me that she can't look up information because she is not a supervisor. I highly advise not to use this company. I recently had a death which I was the beneficiary for a life insurance policy and have not been paid for over 2 months. Mutual of omaha took all my info on the phone and I received payment in 2 weeks. Their answer is they want to make sure I get correctly paid. I wish you could give them no stars. Terrible service. Don't resolve anything nor do they care. JUST EXCUSES!!!!!!

      Terrible company. After one year on the plan they refuse to pay for anything. A big waste of my money. Very frustrating. Plan to change to Delta Dental.
