1 starI enrolled into Planet Fitness via their App and had some issues during to bank switching DEBT cards from **** to ********** so the initial payment through enrollment did not go through. This happened in April. I never got any email, letter, or text alert to notify me of issues with my account. I never stepped a foot in the gym due to unexpected health issues. Later I opened the App and noticed a past due balance of $248.30 covering late dues and months invoices for an incompleted ************* called the Utica location and talked to the manager who was very sweet and acted like she is trying to help. I was put on hold multiple times and at the end were told these are corporate changes that can't be reversed and I asked to cancel my account and got an email saying I won't be receiving more emails but did not say account is canceled. The manager asked me to call the bank and dispute this.. I still need to fight against this. It is unfair to pay or in other word give free money to Planet Fitness for a service that I did not get and an enrollment that did not go through.Review fromTrista B

1 starI signed up for Planet fitness again after a lapse of a few years due to health issues. For the last week I have been denied access to the facility because they accuse my account of being refused by my banking establishment. I went to the bank, spoke with the customer service ***** they said all id correct on the forms and that they NEVER received any type of request from Planet Fitness. They gave me a letter showing all the correct information needed for the account to present to **********************. I went back AGAIN to Planet Fitness and spoke with the assistant manger, she said they have all corrected the information . Well the next day I started to receive several messages from Planet Fitness AGAIN, stating my account had issues again for membership. I went the next day AGAIN, to see the Assistant manager, requested to speak to the general manager, who naturally was not working that day. Asked for his name, it was refused to be given, and well as the other girls working there. I finally had enough of the typical runaround from them, so I stated I want to stop this program. They said fine, and terminated my enrollment but stated that now I have to PAY $ ***** for the month of October, even though I was not allowed usage of at least one day. Why am I being charged for services NEVER rendered to me, this seems like big business robbery of the common individual. The assistant manger was nice, the rest of her "helpers" were completely useless and hard of hearing and understanding, claiming their computers are not incorrect, but that my bank is. I am extremely disappointed in their customer service/care and truth in explaining issues. Seems like the younger the employees the more lack of respect is given to customers .Review fromYazmint M

1 star10/18/2024 *************************** ****************************************************************** Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Misleading Billing Practices Dear *********** am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the misleading and unclear billing practices I have experienced with Planet Fitness. I joined the gym in October 2024 under the impression that I would be charged a prorated fee for the month of October, followed by regular monthly charges for the subsequent months, as was suggested by your advertising. On October 13, 2024, I was charged $4.96, which I understood to be the prorated fee for the month of October. However, to my surprise, I was charged the full monthly fee of $27.11 just a few days later on October 17, 2024. This contradicts my understanding of prorated billing, where I believed the prorated amount would cover the full month of October and the next billing cycle would commence in *********** no point was it clearly communicated, either during the sign-up process or in your advertising, that I would be charged the full monthly fee in addition to the prorated fee within such a short timeframe. I believe this lack of transparency constitutes false and misleading advertising, as it does not accurately reflect the billing structure.Given these concerns, I am requesting the following:1.A detailed explanation of your billing practices, particularly how prorated charges are applied.2.Clearer communication in your future advertising to avoid misleading other customers about the timing and structure of your fees.Should this issue not be resolved in a timely manner, I will be left with no option but to cancel my membership and explore further action by reporting this issue to the relevant consumer protection authorities.I hope we can resolve this matter promptly and amicably. I look forward to your response within the next 10 business days.Sincerely,Yazmint *******Review fromBill B

3 starsI joined Planet Fitness last spring. For the first two ******** I was getting and additional $10 bill along with the membership. I am not blaming the employees! Planet Fitness accepted my application even though the bank number was filled out incorrectly. It did not have enough digits. My bank does not use filler os. I was to read the disclosure in order to find that out. My application was not filled out correctly, it was accepted, and I was fined $10 each month because it did not have the right bank number. This is an I T problem or scam, as Planet has some 2000 locations and are accepting applications that are not filled out right and then fining people until they catch on to what is wrong. Nice income for Planet Fitness but deceptive business practice! If applications are not filled out right they should not be accepted! Shame on you , Fool me once I will not be back!Review fromDon S

1 starThe planet fitness in Ft. ******, KY has hired a new general manager who is undermining to his employees as well as harassing members that have been there since they opened their doors in 2017. Ive never understood that if youve got a good thing then why change it. Ft ****** is the cleanest gym, employees are always so friendly. I was talking to an employee and he rudely interrupted and made this young lady go do something that he obviously could have done himself. It was clear to me that he just wanted control and doesnt want his staff to interact with members. Hes always up at the front desk harassing members over things that dont need immediately addressed. Since his arrival the employees have changed and I no longer feel this as my happy place. Its a very cold feeling in there and if the keep him there Planet fitness will start to lose not only staff but members as well. I dont like to complain, but theres seriously something thats got to change before he terrifies all members and staff with his harassing tactics and eventually Ft. ****** with have to permanently close their doors.Review fromKaren C

1 starI am a member in the ******* Nh Location. I opened a membership in this particular location for my son under his name for his birthday. I pay for it. Its deducted from my checking account. My son has gone in numerous times. I put this in his name. He is refused service every time he goes. Although it comes out of my account every single month today when he went in someone had cancelled my membership. It was just deducted. I cannot get any resolution. I even contacted the headquarters in **********. This branch in ******* has the worst staff. Noone can resolve this. My son cant use the account. I put it in his name. It is even his membership when I go on the app. Ive paid for his membership since April. He needs this membership. Hes is displaced in housing right now. Im at wits end. Ive paid every month. ***** *******Review fromElisabeth H

1 starSo I had knee surgery and per agreement sent certified letter to the address the employee provided over the phone, which is the street address both on ****** maps and on my PF app. Returned to sender. Called ******************* location in **********, ** as well as ***** at the ********, ** location. Both places stated that they were my home gym, then that they werent, then that there was a THIRD gym listed as my original gym that I signed up in - so now 3 places have my debit card info, my personal identification info, and the kicker is that I cant cancel my membership with any of the places as they all have my membership! Then the manager at the ********************* location said that he would email me. I stayed on the phone. He said he sent it. I checked my inbox as well as my junk - NO EMAIL. He said he sent it again. No email again. Then he read an email address to me over the phone and said to send a copy of the returned letter to that, but that to not expect to hear back from anyone. ***** had given me a number to Ignite that will search ALL my memberships and maybe they could help me - after all of the deceit, what appears to be mishandling of personal information, and avoidance of solving a customer issue, I cant imagine why ANYONE would risk signing up for a membership, Why would they? Ill tell you. Its a brilliant scheme because they lure you with the low sign-up fee and they mill through as many humans as possible while making an incredible amount of money with no accountability for peoples money and no reason to get used because small claims court isnt worth the fee. Absolutely stunning how evil yet brilliant this business model is. I would pay ten times this much to be a member of a gym that keeps your information secure in a legitimate way. The only way to beat them is by a class action law suit. If anyone sees this and wants me to join in, I wont be paid a dime for it - I will donate my time for FREE to give any statements against crimeReview fromNatasha K

1 starThe company has moved to digital everything. I wasnt given a tour when I went to the gym. I wasnt helped through the process of joining. I was pointed at a QR code and told to sign up through the app. I love technology and that wasnt a huge issue. I wouldve liked a tour of the facility first but no big deal. Signed up. The gym is small and super crowded. Working out takes so long waiting for machines to open up. It became more of a hassle than anything. Tried to cancel the membership. Youd think it would be done through the app. But no, cancellation must be done in person? Or you must write a letter to the gym to state you want to cancel. Such a racket. If you can sign up without anyone caring to help you can cancel that way too. Just trying to squeeze more money out of people.Review fromApril L

1 starI wish you could give negative stars! I have been fighting with the ******* location to cancel my membership for over 2 years now!!!! First time around they told me I was under contract and had to wait for the year to run out to cancel, fair enough we waited but still was getting charged. Called back in they told me in order to cancel I had to go back to my old city an close it at that location! Reminder I moved over a year ago now so that can't happen. So I called the location only to find out that they never put anything down on my account for calling in to cancel NOTHING!!! I asked what I had to do to cancel they said that there was an over due amount of $99 that if I didn't pay they were going to keep charging my account?. Like what kind of a scam is this? Now they want me to write a letter to them and send in all my bank records showing my account is charged every month, and pay that $99 or they will not close it. How in the world can they refuse to close an account? It is pass the contracted time, I moved, and I can't attend a location. I have never heard of such a Scam place before!!! To top it off **** was so condescending and rude, like your company is stealing my money and you have the nerve to tell me I'm in the wrong when I have done everything to try and cancel it the right way. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
