Transaction was September 25, 2023. I am writing requesting a refund of ORDER NUMBER: ****** in the amount of $3,498. Since signing up I have been under-serviced and nothing has been delivered as promised. I emailed to give them a chance before contacting BBB. I received no reply.On September 25th, I entered into Sell My Timeshare Now, under the premise of my timeshare being sold and being reimbursed for my monthly maintenance fees. *********************************, the Executive Consultant, was in frequent and constant communication with me since August 28th before I signed up. He was consistently reassuring me that I was in prime time of selling my timeshare using SMTN.***** advised me of what a reasonable price would be for me to list my timeshare due to the fact of what others sold for recently of my equivalent vacation weeks. He informed me that SMTN recently sold ones (during the month of September 2023) for more than what I was planning and that they had about the same amount of weeks left on their timeshare. ***** also informed me that he sold a couple of timeshares that was only on the market since the middle and end of August. He was very confident that mine can "idealistically" sell in 30 days, however 60 days will be more realistic.During the next 60 days ***** was more and more unavailable. Telephone was our normal and easy way of communicating, but I was constantly getting his voicemail and he wouldn't return my messages. December 4th, I sent an email complaining about my disappoint and how difficult it is to get in touch with you guys. The last communication I received at the time was a phone call saying sorry we missed your call, please give us a call back during our normal business hours. That was on October 13th!SMTN claims they call me by using a number I never provided them at the time of sign up. It's an old house number from 2007. They always call this number and outside of my times of availability that was given. They are intentionally avoiding me.Business Response

The company is supposed to help me sell my timeshare via a website but it appears the website is bogus and useless. Im supposed to be able to accept offers but there is no way for a potential buyer to make an offer.Business Response

I feel this company is using deceptive practices to earn people's business and get them to committ to using the service. Also a sales person *********************** made different offers and price quotes to me for "full service with maintenance fee guarantees" and is retracting offers and trying to say the company charges more for maintenance fee guarantee. This is total deception. I'm a business man and I also work in sales and her bait and switch tactics are illegal and they should not be able to do this and not be held accountable. I contacted SMTN to list my timeshare under the guise that they were the best place with the most success to do so. They asked that I pay roughly $3000 up front and this was solely for the marketing and management of the ad. They told me my time share was a hot one that lots of offers had been put in on in the last 30 days. In fact they had several clients looking for a spot at our resort so ours should be sold quickly. They said it could take up to ***** days. They seemed very straightforward but I feel I have been misled. The company gives no follow up after the payment has been made. I asked them to edit our add because they had incorrectly set the unit as a 1 bedroom when it's a 2. They never made this change and have not followed up once in the last month in a half. I have found out that this company aims to scam those that have already been scammed by a timeshare in the first place. Do not use them. Sell it yourself on *************** or any other site but this one.Business Response

Paid Sell My Timeshare Now up front in May 2021 (first mistake) with guarantees they would be able to find a buyer for my ************* membership through El Cid. Almost 3 years later I've received 3 *probably* fake inquiries (there is no information about the inquiry other than they did not result in an offer). The first one was right at the 60 day **** to make it look like they would sell it and not to cancel. In November 2023 I was contacted by an "outside" company to offer to get me out of my membership by paying them MORE money.Business Response

I was told by several employees, that the money, would be in my account, the next day or so, and I still have"nt received it yet, I am getting excuses that they are having problems with my account, I called my Bank, and they assured me my account was ok. I do not accept the business's response as a resolution to my complaint because:1. The SMTN message to BBB suggests that I should have reached out to SMTN's ************* line prior to filing a ******************** complaint. In fact I did reach out, both leaving a message on their answering service and also sending through an email. However, when I did not receive a response to either I filed the BBB complaint.
2. When I reached out to SMTN (again) after the SMTN response to BBB, the answering service said that without a name - the message back said only CC line, not a name - they could not put me through to anyone. I left yet another message with the answering service and am now waiting to see if I receive a reply.

I do not accept the business's response as a resolution to my complaint because: After not being able to connect when I called the ************* line and prompted by my ******************** update about that, I finally received an email from SMTN's Sales Customer Support Manager asking to setup a call to discuss this issue (hence SMTN's comment about "in discussions"). We set up a meeting for 10:00 am this morning (Monday, April 15). It is now 10:25 and I have not heard from SMTN, either by phone or with an email indicating why I haven't yet received the call. So, I emailed the manager asking what happened - no response. So, are we "in discussions"? I would say, no we are not.

SMTN.com is a marketing platform that allows timeshare owners to post their unused weeks for rent and connect with those who are interested in those weeks. While we do attempt to verify the details of all listings on our site, it is ultimately the responsibility of the timeshare owner to provide accurate information for their advertisement. Per our published Terms of Use, we attempt to be as accurate as possible. If a product offered on our website itself is not as described, the customers sole remedy is to seek redress with the vendor (seller/renter)directly.

I do not accept the business's response as a resolution to my complaint. SMTN's response implies that they were simply an non-involved agent and that it was the owner who mislead me and should therefore be responsible for any further compensation. I reject that line of thinking. As agent for the owner, they have a duty to ensure that what is posted is what the owner had. Further, as agent, it was SMTN that wrote the two postings, not the owner. They wrote the ads negligently failing to verify what they were writing was, in fact, factual. So, it was their misrepresentation that caused my loss, not the owner. The owner has been very cooperative in refunding what I had paid him. SMTN, however, does not acknowledge their part in causing the additional costs that I incurred due to their negligence. They believe their use of waivers to take advantage of an naive owner (from whom they collected a fee) is a "get of of jail card" that allows them to commit negligence with impunity. I disagree.

I was charged a fee before I signed. I called the next morning to cancel. Spoke with Jason M****** who shamed and berated me and told me I wasted his time. I did not receive a cancellation email much less a refund. I called again the next day and spoke to customer service. I received a cancellation email but no refund. Says it will take 20 days.
