1 starI am SO sorry I went with them! I didn't even want to give them 1 star!! I have been trying for over a year to get my microwave fixed. They were referring me to different companies, but they either wouldn't come because "They never pay me for the work" or I have been "out of our working district". The first person wouldn't come out but did a virtual diagnosis. I was sent the parts he thought would fix the problem, but he wouldn't come to fix it because he said "They never pay me for the work". They finally sent me emails, saying that I need to find someone to do the work myself & then they would reimburse me, but there is NO WAY I trust them to do that - if they won't pay companies who won't work for them.I very much regret leaving my former insurance coverage & going with this company and paying for 6 years of coverage. I would REALLY like to be reimbursed for the 4 1/2 years I have left & return to my former insurance company.Review fromBryan S

1 starI would give zero stars but that's not possible. I've been a member for at least 2 years. During that time they have repeatedly told me they cannot find someone to provide service, so I should hire someone and then get reimbursed. Most locals won't go through their process because they have a bad reputation of not paying claims. When I try to get reimbursed, they always find a loophole to keep from paying, so I'm paying them every month and then get nothing in return. Still, I kept the policy in case my A/C or well died - you know, the big ones. Final straw was a leaky toilet. I bought all the parts but could not remove the bolts that hold the tank on, even with the help of WD40. So, I called ServicePlus. The local "plumber" they sent out took one look and said he couldn't help me because "you broke it". Seriously? I caused bolts to rust?!?!? He wouldn't even try to loosen them but charged me the $100 service fee anyway. And, to add insult to injury, ServicePlus denied the claim because they cover normal wear and tear but do not cover ***** bolts in a toilet tank. I told ServicePlus to cancel the contract, but they just tried to sell me on how good their service is! I told them, no it's not. They deny every claim. They wouldn't cancel my contract and stop charging me, so I hung up. Then I got an e-mail saying they did not cancel my contract because I hung up. So, I called back. Found out the e-mail was a lie - they had already cancelled the contract. Not sure why they had me call back unless the person who was trying to sell me was just being *****. At the end of the day, I'm done with home warranty companies for good. Not worth the cost or the aggrevation.Review fromSterling P

1 starI signed a 5 year contract with ServicePlus in March 2018 and have had nothing but problems with them since. For example, early on, I had a claim to replace my kitchen microwave. It cost me $900 to replace but they only gave me a $375 reimbursement check in what they called a buyout. I took out a claim in Jan 2021 to fix a Heating, Ventilation and Cooling (HVAC) system in my house. As an elderly person they didnt care I was freezing in the DC area in the middle of winter during weeks of negotiation while I thought they were going to fix it. Their own technician thought ServicePlus should fix the problem. I finally had to hire my own technician and have it repaired on my own dime while they continued to deny my claim. Then in Feb 2022 I took out a claim on the second HVAC in my house to replace the compressor. Their ****************** refused the claim on the grounds it was not a mechanical failure due to normal wear and tear. Get this - they disagreed with their own technician again and an independent technician I hired who said it was due to normal wear and tear. I went into arbitration for months with the Fairfax County, **, Consumer ************************ to get ServicePlus to pay but to no avail. At this point I was headed for small claims court when a friend advised me to go to a local TV station for help. I was finally reimbursed by ServicePlus for both HVAC claims in July of 2022 but only due to the threat of TV Channel WJLA-7 Call For Action going public with my case. ServicePlus knew they were cheating me and knew when to pay up so they wouldnt be exposed. Unfortunately, Im sure many elderly people in the same situation would have just given up. There should be a law against this kind of cheating. The people at ServicePlus treat you very nice about not paying your claim with every excuse imaginable and then in the end maybe reimbursing you for a fraction of the real cost or they close your claim and you have no recourse. Stay away from ServicePlus.Review fromRobert M.

1 starBE CAREFUL. The fine print of their service contract excludes most of the issues that can cause failure of systems. Issues with my HVAC, they excluded pressure testing for leaks (add of $350). After paying fee, determined coil was leaking. After waiting several days for "permission to fix", service plus directed me to their exclusion of "rust". Rusting coils is primary reason for leaks, they are continuously bathed with water and always have "rust" associated with the coil. Found same issue with a plumbing leak, again they wanted additional payment for "pressure testing" which is utter nonsense since plumbing systems are under pressure via the water service. Usually around ***** psi. Again, the fine print of their exclusions weaved an out so that the leak was not covered. The notion that appliances and equipment are covered by their plan is misconstrued, and they have cleverly itemized their exclusions for issues that mostly cause failure. When I asked to terminate my prepaid 5 year plan with 2 years remaining, I was informed there would be no refund because I took advantaged of reduced rate by a 5yr obligation. I canceled anyways. I don't know if all home warranties operate this way but better off self-insuring. ******************* *********** **Review fromLeslie H

1 starThey are a scam company. They wouldnt pay the contractors that they sent out so frequently three back to back contractors refuse to return to complete the job because they had not gotten paid. Once I actually filed a claim they always would deny it, and looking further into the contract they actually deny every single part the **** repair. Then, to make it worse, you cant even cancel the service. They will not give you a refund for months not used charge you for any claim they paid out over the years. They never actually sent any money for a water heater replacement. They say it will *********** to 8 weeks for payment, long enough for you to forget that supposed to come. My suspicion is this companies been bankrupt for years, And theyve been running a Ponzi scheme since I went bankrupt. This company ought to be investigated. Ive had many home service warranties before, I understand how they work. There is something very seriously wrong with this company. Do not ever sign up with this company, or you will regret it.Review fromRachel O

1 starIf I could give them ZERO stars I would! Complete Joke of a Company if you can call them that! They have NO problem taking my money when my payment was due! I paid for 5 years and got an extra year free. They have owed us money for an oven since 9/21...Almost a YEAR! They also owe my mom money and that's been over a YEAR! I've had some of the technicians tell me to leave this company as they never want to fix an Item for long term it's always just put a band aid on it! Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.Review fromGiulia U

1 starDO NOT USE ServicePlus Home Warranty. I purchased a multi-year plan, had an issue with my washing machine, and submitted a claim right away. After waiting a couple of days, I called and was told they were sorry but a technician would be assigned quickly and I'd get an email. I started calling daily after that - I would ask to speak to a supervisor and be told none were available. I finally was able to get one on the phone, and while he was very nice, nothing was resolved. The next day, I checked the online portal and my claim has been closed! I finally called and demanded my money back after waiting more than 2 weeks.Review fromMichele S.

1 starDO NOT consider this home warranty company. We had a wonderful sales person who sold us a 5-year contract and switched --BIG MISTAKE. We had a pipe under ** unity that was not draining. ** guy said plumber was needed--called home warranty company from my home. After 4 weeks and daily emails asking us to find our own contractor, ruined wood floors on our entire ***** floor and my husband getting injured suctioning the water from under the ** unit we paid to have plumber fix the problem. May 25, 2022 the ** stops cooling--again daily emails asking us to find our own contractor....so we do, our unit is less than 5 years old and we have it cleaned twice a year, the ** contractor tell us our coils are in perfect condition -specifically states no rust or corrosian--takes pictures, writes a narrative detailing that the coils are in perfect condition but need to be replaced etc. Get a denial due to rust/corrosion being not covered. I called, they requested additional pictures, apaid to have the ** contractor come out and take additional pictures--again narrating that the coils do not have rust or corrosion. Second denial as our warranty does not cover rust and corrosion. Called again as was told their "decision team" determined they could see ****************** I am then told we could "fight" this by getting another technician to come out for a second diagnosis, HOWEVER, they would not cover that cost. Do not ask to speak to a manager because they do not have any. I had a customer service rep ***** me an idiot and inform me that Directors do not speak to customers. When I ask Directors of what--she told me "just directors". We now have filed 2 complaints with the ***** ******************** against this company and are investigating legal actions. This company is a scam, no customer service, no management, and absolutely do not pay claims. We have had several contractors tell us they do not pay their contractors which is why they can't find contractors.Review fromTerry R

1 starNever anyone available to complete or authorize claim, nor is reimbursement approved even with a technician diagnosis. All customer rep tell me is I should have gotten approval, however the approval **** has bankers hours. I highly recommend not enlisting this company for your home warranty.
