      Crooks, scam artists, time wasters and completely unprofessional! Don’t waste your time and money. All incompetent, don’t hold up their end of the contract, no return calls, hung up on repeatedly. I am on my 4th manager and it’s the worst customer experience I have had in over 30 years of being in business. The owner/s officers should be thrown in jail for fraud!

      Sadly I can see from every single review that everyone has the same horrible experience.

      Why doesn’t the BBB go after these types of companies that are clearly scamming their customers?

      About 1 month ago I called SHW to report my air conditioner had stopped working. An excellent repairman was sent, who told me the motor had died and that he could have a replacement in hand by the next day, providing that SHW approved it. The motor was original equipment and was about 20+ years old. It had lasted longer than anticipated.
      I immediately called SHW to see if I they could expedite the approval. I explained there were three reasons why I needed the approval expedited.
      1. I am elderly
      2. I am disabled
      3. We were experiencing extreme heat
      The SHW person who answered my call said it usually took 1-2 days for approval and there was nothing he could do to expedite it. I asked for his supervisor, hoping perhaps he or she could help me. After I explained my circumstances, he said all he could do was send an email to the approval people. He said there was no way I could be connected to anyone in the United States and that he didn’t have a phone number for me to call, or an email for me to use. It took over a week for the approval process, which should have been a no brainer. During that week I called numerous times, only to be read the same script by a different employee.
      I was never contacted to tell me my claim had been approved. But, the local A/C man sent out by SHW was. He relayed to me that even though he had the same OEM part, that SHW insisted they send their part to me. At my request, my local A/C man gave me the information on the motor I needed so I could relay it to SHW to ensure I received the correct part. SHW confirmed the part number and told me they were ordering it on Amazon. Like every other time I called I explained my circumstances and asked if I could get the part myself and be reimbursed, or if their local tech could use his part. Like before, I received the same response each time likely read from a script. It was also reaffirmed I could not be connected to anyone with the ability to expedite my case.

      1 star is too much. I wish I had checked here before spending over $1000 on the policy. Our air went out 11 days ago. We have had discussions with they customer service department (note every time it was in a foreign company) number ours times to find out today they will pay $350 toward a $9500 claim. They were never going to pay for our unit as it was 15 years old. All they need is on part that is not covered on the policy and they can deny any payment. This company should not accept policies on older homes, they have the policy worded in such a way that you will never get paid for a big item that goes out. Why can’t these Frauds be closed down?

      Select Home Warranty
      should be closed. There should be a "0" rating for this company. Select Home Warranty is scamming people out of their money. They take your money but say their technicians are backed up 3 to 4 weeks. I needed a plumber & was told I could find my own plumber. This is unacceptable. No company accepts Select Home Warranty. I see why. I called a plumber who came out the same day. So, how are their technicians backed up 3 to 4 weeks. If that is so, Select Home Warranty should have a list of companies that accept their warranty but they don't. They just leave it to you to find a technician, pay for it out your pocket, then try to get reimbursed from them which can take 30 days if Select Home Warranty doesn't try to give excuses not to reimburse you. I wouldn't refer ANYONE, AND I MEAN ANYONE to buy a Warranty from SELECT HOME WARRANTY!!!!

      I switched over to Select home warranty to save money I paid for 6 years up front. I have alway had my house under a warranty plan at the time of getting select warranty I had to home warranty plans running at the same time so I switch to select then months later my dryer stopped working they came out to fix it but it still was not working properly so I called them out again it took them over a month to come back out and once they came out they told me they could not fix it because they didn’t make the ports no more and they offered me $200 instead of replacement now I have always had my appliances under a warranty I am not happy with this decision the other places would’ve replaced it . I haven’t received the $200. Yet . I am not Satisfied with that it says that they would replace it it’s not my fault that they don’t make the part and it’s not like I never had it under a plan had it under one since the day I brought it home

      On 07/20/2022, my A/C unit abruptly stopped working. Immediately, I filed a claim with Selected Home Warranty on 07/20/2022 and SHW sent a service provider from on 07/22/2022. The technician concluded that the compressor blew out and this caused all the freon to leak from the system. In the result of his diagnosis, the technician’s general notes stated that I needed a new compressor.

      On 07/25/2022, SHW emailed a denial of my claim because freon leaks are not covered. I disagreed with their assessment and asked for a second opinion.

      On 07/26/2022, I requisition another service provider, to provide a second opinion. The second service provider's technician stated, “winging shorting out and causing the terminal to blow out on compressor; therefore, this causes the system to lose all of the r-22.” This invoice was emailed on 07/30/2022 to SHW.

      On 08/03/2022, SHW claims department stated that they did not receive the invoice for the second opinion. I verified the email address with them, stated that I used the correct email address and forwarded the 07/30/2022 initial email that they allegedly did not receive.

      On 08/05/2022, I received a second denial letter from SHW stating, “It has been determined that your Unit is still running and providing power however not blowing out cold air. Issues such as these are generally Freon related (either low freon or a freon leak).”

      Firstly, both service providers stated that the unit was not running because the compressor was inoperable.

      Secondly, section 6.3.6 states that compressors are covered; therefore, my claim should be honored.

      Lastly, I called SHW’s claims department on 08/07/2022, asked to escalate my call to a claims manager, and informed the claims manager that I planned to submit a complaint to the BBB because SHW’s customer service workflows are not aligned with the customer's claims; therefore, the customer suffers from their mistakes with unjustified denials.

      "0 STARS" Despicable Service.... Select Home Warranty (SHW) makes every effort making sure their paying customers are miserable fighting to get outage repaired. Absolutely no way to communicate with them except calling. Website is mainly a selling tool and submit claims, no follow-up capability, except calling. Rarely hear back after submitting claims and foreign call center very friendly although absolutely no help...transferring to a supervisor LOL. Plan cost $2,249.96 for a 5-years an extremely good price, but beware, get what you pay for! I'm appalled at the way they are treating me and others I'm seeing. Wished I remained with BFS Home Warranty...cost more, although never a problem with quick repairs. Just see below proof of my misery service.
      1. ("0" Stars - Unacceptable) - Garbage Disposal Outage (American Standard Platinum 1/2-HP): Reported on Sep 1, 2020. Repaired on Sep 14, 2020, with a Mainline Grind Smart Generic 1/3 hp (PO Junk). Issue: 13 DAYS?
      2. ("1" Star" - Unacceptable) - Home HVAC Outage (Rheem System-Installed 2015). Reported on Oct 13, 2021. Repaired on Oct 16, 2021. Emergency repair took 3 days?? Thank goodness it was October, if July or August normally over 100 degrees.
      3. ("0" Stars- Unacceptable) - Dishwasher Outage (LG installed 2015). Reported Dec 8 2021. Repaired on Dec 22, 2021…14 days for repair???
      4. ("0" Stars - Unacceptable) - Garbage Disposal Outage (Mainline Grind Smart Generic 1/3 hp) Reported July 25, 2022. No response, called them and they told me that they made a decision that it was not cost effective to them send a contractor out to repair the Disposal that they installed 1 1/2 years ago and instead said they would reimburse me $75.00 to buy another piece of junk disposal, when shocked and responded "WTH", they said read your Contract line item 8. Selects Option iii...basically states, they have the option to RIP YOU OFF...which they will!
      All I can say to you all as a warning...stay away from SHW!

      I filled a claim over the phone for Air conditioner after asking for service records that I provided they told me 1 to 2 business days someone would get back to me now here it is 5 days later and they need another 1 business day to review it again I live in Florida and it is the summer so it's like 100° and I told them that I have an elderly person with a heart monitor that lives here they didn't care

      This is a joke, is not a serious company , don’t waste your money , I experienced with them was bad , they never fixed my plumbing issues , so do not recommend for a home warranty at all.

      HORRIBLE! Absolutely horrible! Every claim I have made has been denied. Even after they said it was covered but ask me to find my own repair man! Go Anyone else! Don’t even consider! I will be spending the next week reporting on every site what a scam they are!
