I was charged $10.66 on 3/9/23 for a service that I dont have. I even tried to change my password online by my email address is not associated with an account. I will be calling my bank to report fraud as this seems to be a in wide issue after reading the other BBB reports. If my card is charged again, I am sure there is further action that can be taken against this company with the number of fraudulent reports this year alone.Business Response

Our personal bank account has been debited for $13 from a GSI Newsprs - SE apparently based in *********, ****** for the past 3 months! I have never lived in ****** nor do I read their newspaper. I do not have an account with GSI Newspaper and ; therefore, could not stop drafting on their end because I do not have an account number. They were not helpful on the phone when I finally spoke to a real person. My bank has stopped all drafts from going through for the next 5 years. #1. How did they get my banking information in the first place to start this chain of events? #2. How do I get them to stop so that my bank does not have to keep denying their charges? From the looks of your BBB website, this is a common practice and it is fraud! I would appreciate some sort of information and feedback. It looks like you are well aware of this scam.Business Response

I subscribed to a digital version of the ******** Record newspaper several years ago. In November I decided to unsubscribe. When calling the Gannett phone number I was told I had to call the local paper. I did and was told I had to unsubscribe online. So I unsubscribed online at the bottom of one of the e-mails I received from the digital subscription. I am still being billed for the subscription.Business Response

Today, 2/28/2023, I was charged $41.73 by the ****************************************. I was confused as to why I was being charged this amount. I called the subscription phone line and was informed that Gannett "auto-renewed" my subscription for an ENTIRE YEAR. I only authorized paying for the subscription MONTHLY. Never before have I paid for an entire year upfront. The customer service rep refused to let me speak with anyone besides her, and she refused to initiate a refund for an unauthorized transaction. I agreed that I would pay for the month, not the entire year. I would like a refund of this unauthorized transaction amount. It's no wonder Gannett and it's papers are being accused of shady auto renewal processes that are illegal when they commit fraud like this. Absolutely shady and scammy. I will be letting everyone know this practice occurs and to make sure to cancel their subscriptions before you can scam everyone that in good faith tried to read your paper.Business Response
