The ************* NewsJournal newspaper is owned by Gannett Company now. We continue to have non-delivery of this newspaper at least once a week or more. After contacting customer service numerous times with no answers to why non-delivery continues to be allowed we now have to file a complaint with the BBB. **************** give us no information or other phone numbers to contact the local circulation manager or a supervisor above the customer service employee. There business practice to delivery a good is absolutely horrible with nowhere to turn to bring with issue to resolve. Please accept this as confirmation we have received a complaint from your offices regarding ************** and his delivery issues. We apologize for the frustration this may have caused. The agents he has spoken to would not be able to provide a reasonable explanation for a missed paper unless it was production, editorial, weather or a delayed route. Most missed deliveries are due to human error. The automated services allow an account to be accurately credited when missed and will escalate complaints to the carrier and their manager.
I have spoken to the Distributor of the area and asked for an immediate correction of Mr. ****** concerns. They are speaking to the new carrier and asked that they ensure delivery as scheduled.

I received an email confirmation this morning of a $7.99 payment paid on December 15, 2022, today. In the checking acct.description, the creditor detail reads: WITHDRAWAL ACH GCI NEWSPRS-CN TYPE: NEWSPAPER CO: GCI NEWSPRS-CN ENTRY CLASS CODE: PPD. I did not know what it was for.Might be a local paper owned by Gannett, but I didn't take the time to drill down and do the research, and thus didn't contact Gannett about the matter.It included a listing of past payments of $7.99 auto-withdrawn from my checking account on the following days/months: Again, I don't know what it was for. 8 September 2022, $7.99 6 October 2022, $7.99 3 November 2022. $7.99, and 15 December 2022 $7.99.. Each with the company detail in my checking account that reads:WITHDRAWAL ACH GCI NEWSPRS-CN TYPE: NEWSPAPER CO: GCI NEWSPRS-CN ENTRY CLASS CODE: PPD.I did not sign up for this, nor do I know what it's for! I wasn't aware of the earlier withdrawals, and only noticed this today from an email confirmation. I have not contacted Gannett CI about this matter.I want this auto-withdrawal to stop and GCI to refund me $31.96, which is $7.99 x 4. This is for 8 September, 6 October, 3 November, and 15 December. All auto-withdrawals of $7.99. Based on her information, she subscribed online on 3/5/2022, accepting the offer of $1.00 for the first six months of access and $7.99 thereafter.
Digital subscriptions are a non-refundable service. The only way to start a digital subscription is to provide full credit card information and to accept the terms of service, which states the non-refundable policy. It is the subscriber's responsibility to check their statements each month and notify us immediately when there is a problem. If a cancellation is requested, it is processed at the end of the current term.
Your account will be stopped at the current paid to date of 1/8/2023. There will be no refund processed.

I left my job on May 16, 2022. For that job I had a subscription for the ***************** (Gannett Newspaper.) Account number **********. Since I left that job I have had to call Gannett Newspaper FL four times. The first time I called in July 2022 I was told the subscription was cancelled. They kept billing $7.99. The second time August 11, 2022 I was told the same thing and I even received a notification on August 18th that the cancellation was on file in the system at the ***************** and it was also verified by phone ************. They kept billing $7.99. The third time I was told that my credit card number was on someone elses account. Not even the same adress. Gannett said I would have to send a letter in to request a cancellation. I sent the letter in and they kept billing $7.99. Last week I called the credit card company to dispute the charge. The credit card company took the charge off and then again today December 5, 2022 there is another charge for $7.99. The fourth time I called was today December 5, 2022 I called the ***************** news office directly and they said they have no access to the accounts and to call Gannett again. They recommended that we cancel our credit card. I then called ***************** Customer service line ************. December 5, 2022 at 10:25 a.m. to see if they could help. She said it may be a duplicate account issue. The same issue as before when I was told that the credit card was on someone elses account. The customer service rep assured me yet again that it would be cancelled. This is a repeat of before. I just want them to get it canceled and get this over with.Business Response

Based on **************** information he accepted an offer to the Lakeland Ledger on 4/22/2022. The offer was digital access for $1.00 during the first six months and $7.99 thereafter. I have terminated his account on its expiration date of 12/24/2022. ************** will only receive additional charges if he chooses to continue disputing payments with his bank. Once the research is conducted and it is found the charges were accurate
