The battery died on our rental car. Avis requested $129 for Avis to service their car. We called AAA. They tested the battery, and it was DEAD. Isn't battery check a part of basic maintenance? Not impressed with the company.Avis Rent A Car

We traveled to *********** from 3/12-3/18, and pre-paid for a cheaper rate ($30 savings) for a 7 passenger SUV. When our flight landed and we went to get the vehicle it wasn't available. The agent told us she had a compact SUV vehicle available and the rental would be cheaper. We would have to wait until we returned the car to receive the refund of the difference. Upon return of the vehicle we notified them that it smelled like smoke and we purchased coffee beans to remove the smell. We were told everything was noted and that we would receive our refund in 3 to 7 business days. It has been 7 business days and we haven't received an email or any notification that they would honor what we were told. I have spoken to two customer service agents and both told me there is NOTHING they can do and to have a good. Oh! They said they could honor charging me a higher price for the compact vehicle we were provided.Avis Rent A Car

It is distressing to receive a report of this nature and to learn that you have found some aspect of your experience with Avis to be less than satisfactory.
Constructive criticism is appreciated, and you may be assured that this matter is not being dismissed with my reply to you. A copy of your report has been forwarded to our senior management team to advise of your feedback. We appreciate your taking the time to make this report to us, you have helped in a continuing effort to provide you, and all Avis customers with the service you expect and deserve.
Upon review of your rental details our records revealed that on March 27, 2025, customers service department was contacted regarding this complaint and was advised due to your experience they emailed a one free rental day coupon for your use on a future rental. Avis believes this coupon represents a reasonable solution to this matter.

Rental in *************** at the airport. Wouldnt rent me a car unless I had a round trip ticket had I known. I would have rented a car in ************* and drove out and back. Charged me ******* took more money out then they were authorized too. Refuse to give back money. Keep saying it was sent to my back when it wasn't. Now wanting me to fax them my bank statements and a letter from my bank that they don't have it. I have called it's not at the bank. Will be contacting the States Attorney General as well as the bank to request my money back. I recommend not renting from them if it can be avoided at all costsAvis Rent A Car

Unfair Charges and Poor Follow-Up Review Body:I recently rented a car from Budget (Rental Number U13... and VCR Number VCR92...) at *****************************, and the experience has been incredibly disappointing. After dropping off the car with the keys insidemy usual practiceI received a letter dated March 7, 2025, from **** *****, alleging that I did not properly return the keys on February 27, 2025, and billing me $230.26 for damages and fees.Despite my clear explanation and request for any video footage or documentation to support their claim, Budget has yet to provide any evidence. As a longtime customer who relies on ********************** vehicles for business, this situation feels both unfair and unprofessional. Their failure to protect customers from unwarranted charges or to investigate the circumstances around these missing keys is troubling.Until this matter is resolved, I cannot in good conscience recommend Budget. If you rent with them, be sure to document everything meticulouslytake photos, record drop-off interactions, and follow up in writingbecause it seems Budget may not thoroughly review or acknowledge your side of the story.Avis Rent A Car

I recently rented a car from Avis MCI in ***********. I made the reservation on my Avis App and received what I felt was a good price so I rented the vehicle. When I went to the counter all I did was show them my reservation. I gave them my DL and credit card and got keys to the car I wanted to rent. I returned the vehicle and was told I would receive any email with my bill. When I received my bill I was shocked to see an extra $33 charge that was also taxed at *****%. I sent an email to Avis customer service since I could not talk to a human being at the airport or at Avis customer service requesting the charge be removed. They sent me an email that said: "The following list shows all the additional charges attached to this contract:SELECT AND GO UPGRADE: $33.00USD 33.00USD/PER DAY With Select and Go customers now have the option to keep their pre-assigned vehicle, exchange it or upgrade it for an additional daily charge. If the vehicle is not exactly what they want, they can now select a different one from either the Select and Go Exchange area or the Select and Go Upgrade area. Because our records show the services were accepted at the counter at the time of pickup, we determined the charges to be valid.'This response is a fabrication. I made the reservation on the Avis App and the charge was not there. No one at the counter asked me if I wanted this charge. I believe this is an unethical practice that Avis does to unwitting customers. They add charges that were not requested and assume most customers will just pay their bill and not know about this charge. Avis has yet to resolve this issue. It is a horrible and unacceptable business practice and I strongly discourage everyone from every renting a vehicle from Avis when there are numerous other options with companies that do not try to add additional fees to their vehicles in a very deceptive way.Avis Rent A Car

I picked up a car from Avis. Having 3 children to accommodate, I order a ****** Rav 4, which should have been enough for them in the rear seat. Yet, when I checked in, I was given another model. I tried to fit the family when they joined me for my travail, but they would not fit. So i asked for a bigger car. I was told I would have to cancel the ongoing contract and pay more for the new bigger car, which makes sense. Yet, I was not refunded the sum that I had already paid for the first contract... Although the clerk told me I should be refunded 690 dollars. When I wrote an email to the customer service ([*********]) and got an answer asking for more information. I provided the required info, and since then, no one wrote back. That is abysmal customer service.Avis Rent A Car

This particular Avis as THE WORST customer service out of all the surrounding locations. When you call the "franchise owner" ******* is very rude, speaks over guest when they're talking and trying to ask questions. She always states they're no vehicles available when they actually are. Has no professionalism about herself, walks away when you are speaking to her, she act as if you've done something to her by simply trying to rent a car. ********* attitude ALONE would make you not want to deal with the company as a whole. In these economic times everyone has something going on, but it doesn't hurt to be kind especially when someone is attempting to be kind to you. If this business is too stressful for her she may need to seek help or go into a different business because servicing the public does not seem like it's for her. Her tone and demeanor is very rude and nasty. Owning the franchise doesn't mean you get to behave however you want the company that you're representing still has codes of conduct and I'm sure she's not following it.Avis Rent A Car

Reservations are booked based on our expected availability, however when vehicles are returned back late or returned damaged it can cause us to not have the availability we had expected. In these cases the customer who booked their reservations first will be provided the vehicles. As your reservation was booked less than 24 hours in advance, if the locations has upcoming reservations that booked before yours, the cars would be held for the reservations booked first.
