It's a circus. Customer service is rude, ridiculous, dishonest, lazy and mumble their names. I talked with 5 representatives and I had to ask several times what their names were. Once I asked for a supervisor or manager Customer service said there isn't one. I also had one that an inventory manager was going to call me back in 15 minutes (5:00 p.m.) and that he would locate the equipment I reserved and it'd be a "minor setback". Needless to say I never received a response from budget truck rentals and once 8 p.m. struck I decided to call them. I honestly thought I was moving to my new job in a new state but instead I caught the customer representative in a lie trying to claim he was corporate manager and claimed that there was no position for inventory management (which would've explained a lot) but the position is clearly posted on the corporate website.Budget Truck Rental

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET A TRUCK SINCE OCTOBER 24TH. CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TOLD ME TRUCK CAN BE PICKED UP AND THEY WILL BILL ME IF I DIDN'T SHOW. I SHOW UP TO GET A TRUCK AND A TRUCK IS NOT AVAILABLE. I AM NOW OUT OF $400 RENTING FROM ANOTHER COMPANY. SENT ME TO 2 DIFFERNT LOCATIONS THAT DIDNT HAVE TRUCKS. I'd prefer to rate them as less than zero but that is not an option. I picked up a 16ft box truck to move my deceased mothers things from her house on 8/11 This was a very short trip, and our timeline was very short. During my drive from the rental facility to my mother's house 41 miles away. About 35 miles into the drive, the truck cut off twice while going down a mountainous road. This left me without steering or breaks. I called for service as soon as we arrived safely at my mother's house. I was told that a mechanic would be there to assess the truck. The following morning I called to check the status of the repairs and was told that the truck needed a tune-up and spark plugs and I would need to take it to the repair shop. I expressed my concern regarding driving the truck 18 miles back down the mountain. In my opinion, that truck was unsafe to drive down a mountain, curvy road. Reluctantly, the agent agreed to put in a ticket to have it towed and stated that a replacement truck was not an option. I again express the urgency of the situation/timeline. Multiple times I was told to drive an unsafe vehicle down the mountain. When it was clear that Budget was closed for the weekend and I would not be assisted until Monday with repairs/replacement, I requested my reservation be canceled and was forced to rent a moving truck from another company.
I was told multiple times that they could not refund my money since the reservation was "still open." The truck was towed on 8/13/23 and clearly not in my possession. It took over 2 weeks for the reservation to be closed, so they charged me for another week's rental. It took 21 days to receive a refund. They never addressed the seriously dangerous requests made by their employees on multiple occasions to drive a vehicle with documented severe mechanical issues down a mountain. The WORST! Went to pick up the moving truck and car trailer to be told Budget came and picked up my reserved car trailer and took it to another location. Leaving my car basically stranded in the state we are moving from. Waited 9!!! Hours for a return phone call from an Inventory Manager to never receive a phone call. Wouldn’t recommend them if you’re needing a reliable company to rent from.Budget Truck Rental

Unreliable & Disappointing.
I was told last minute (less than 24 hours) that I would have to call their service line to find a new truck. I was excited to take advantage of their cheap price- that was not what happened. They charged me initially for the extra mileage & had me go all the way out to Roseville when my move was within Troy.
If only they could be more efficient and keep track of their trucks. I was pressured into getting the insurance since I had to go ~50 miles total vs ~15 miles if it would've been available.
I wish such a big company wouldn't have taken advantage of their consumer. I will be moving in the future and will not be using this truck rental service again. I advise all against it as well.Budget Truck Rental

If we could give Zero Stars for Budget Rent a Car in Bangor, ME, we would. We rented a car that broke down on Day 2. Called them repeatedly and no response after 1.5 hrs worth of attempts. When we finally got them on the phone, they transferred me to a towing service and gave another number to work it out. Tow truck arrived and did their job but no replacement car was provided nor did they answer their phone. Called repeatedly and when someone did answer, they stated “we have no cars” with no alternate resolution. I informed them that I would not pay any charges if there were any as I did not get what I paid for.
The next day, we switched to Enterprise and poof! Problem solved. They delivered their car to our Hotel with zero issues. 2 weeks later, Budget continues to fraudulently charge my account for services not rendered. We informed our card company and the charge was disputed and they removed it. A month later, Budget charges us again! Repeat process to undo the charges a 2nd time. This is unreal….for all of you reading this, steer clear of Budget for fear of this happening to you…..I see many low CX ratings for Budget for months everywhere I look…Is their management team aware? Are they so desperate for revenue that they resort to fraudulent charges?Budget Truck Rental

Price gouged. Biggest mistake in the move was using budget and not uhaul.
The lack of transparency around pricing, the insane insurance costs and the price gouging when in a pickle and needing a few extra days ($40 per day with uhaul- almost $200 per day with budget), lack of communication and absolute inability to reach their contracted rental agent where we picked up is just unacceptable. We reserved a truck from them and two days later got an email saying they didn't have anything available for us. So we went to another location, reserved another truck, and a few hours later got a call saying they screwed us again.

Budget is the most incompetent, ridiculous company I have ever dealt with. Reserved a much needed truck a month in advance, only to be informed via text the night before I was to pick it up that it was not available. Managed to change the date for two weeks later, and was just informed this morning that no truck was available in a 50 mile radius. Why have a reservation system for something you never have?! And to be utterly useless about fixing it! Now I'm scrambling to find another way to get my stuff transported. I am absolutely furious and disgusted with this company. Reservations are booked based on our expected availability, however when vehicles are returned back late or returned damaged it can cause us to not have the availability we had expected. In these cases we will try to find a vehicle from another location, if we are not able to, we would have to refer you to rent with a competitor. In the event you did rent with another self-moving company and your rental costed more than your expected charges with us we are happy to review for your charges for possible reimbursement.

Budget Truck Rental completely screwed me over, fraudulently charged me, and the complete jerk at their Canton, Ohio location needs to be fired. After I had reserved a 26' truck 3 weeks ahead of time, the unprofessional, condescending jerk who works at the Canton. Ohio location told me I would have to drive to Akron to get my truck, which is over 60 miles from where I live. I asked him why doesn't someone from Budget go get my truck, because I can't drive to Akron and I refuse to pay the extra mileage. He laughed at me. I called back and asked him if he had any other trucks and he said no. I told him I'm not driving to Akron and to cancel my reservation, then he hung up. I had to call many places and was able to find a moving truck, though one of their competitors (who were very professional and not complete jerks like the Budget employee), which took 3 hours. This past Monday I received a text from my credit card company that Budget illegally charged me $75 for not canceling, when I had told the jerk at the Canton location that I wasn't drivihg over 60 miles to get the truck. I called their customer service and explained the situation and they told me it would be refunded. It has not been refunded, so I called again today and I couldn't understand two different representatives, as they barely spoke English. I told the first one I couldn't understand him and he hung up on me. The second one demanded I give him my reservation number if I wanted to speak with his supervisor.
I completely appalled by the way Budget has treated me and expect an immediate refund for the fraudulent $75 charge Budget has charged on my credit card. If this does not happen, I will be contacting my lawyer and will see them in court. I am also going to make sure that I post reviews for Budget on every single review website possible. People have the right to know that this is how Bufget does business and rips off their customers, after screwing them over on a reservation.Budget Truck Rental
