      A 1-star rating is too high!
      Worst truck rental experience I've ever had. Was given a 16' truck that had to be towed. Road Service was no help, tried to leave me stranded in rural Michigan. Cargo box leaked and ruined my belongings. Catalytic converter was bad, front tire 'cupped,' and more. Had two claims with Budget - one for refund of the truck rental, another for damage to belongings. Both are still in process and have been nightmarish. And their policy is NOT to refund sales tax paid, which is a violation of most state statutes. Horrible truck, horrible customer service.

      I had a reservation to pick up a truck and they called the morning. I was supposed to pick it up and told me they had no trucks available. Budget Rent-A-truck are the worst. They put me in a horrible position as I was trying to move my son to the university he was attending the last minute no truck they were supposed to call me back and explain never heard another word from them. To say I hate them it’s not nearly strong enough.

      Terrible, appalling. Do not use this company. Made a reservation for a van. Was called the night before that no vans were available at my location. They would call back. I was scheduled for a 9 am move, no call back. I kept calling- got disconnected, hung up on, endless phone tree nonsense. I was told they would kindly waive the cancellation fee -(!!!!). Went with another company. Budget was useless

      I would not recommend Budget Truck Rental. I would not trust what you are told, nor the email confirmation. While placing an online booking directly on their website, I called and was told by Customer Service that the drop-off location was not open on Sunday. I called that drop-off location on a Sunday afternoon and a lovely Southern lady told me "I could hon' ". So I booked the cargo van. Three weeks later when I went to pick up the 'cargo van', which was pictured and described as such in the confirmation email, i was shown a 10-foot truck. The guy at this office informed me they just don't own any cargo vans. Whether they do or do not, clearly the operation is shabby, staff ill-informed, and the confirmation bookings untrustworthy. This is completely unacceptable. I will never again use Budget Truck Rental. I scrambled and found a large SUV (Chevy Tahoe) at Enterprise and filled it to the brim! I wish I had read these reviews.

      Nobody who rents vehicles for cross-country DIY moves should be allowed to put anything on the road that doesn't have an owner's manual or cruise control (I can take care of the trash in the glove box and cupholders as well as the under-inflated tires myself). A short drive home at 50 mph showed that a Ford high-roof cargo van cannot make ANY emergency maneuver (including braking) that won't endanger the occupants. A half hour in this truck was the worst driving experience I've ever had, including on- and off-road driving in Korea in Army HUMVEEs. The next 1,800 miles will be sheer hell...

      I reserved a 16' moving truck; I picked up on 8/4 @ approx. 5:45pm EST and my return date was 8/6. I did not verify the closing time for the drop off location before booking my reservation. Once I realized the location would be closed by the time I made it there I call to verify if they had an overnight drop box. After 35-40 minutes on the phone I found out they do have a drop box. I returned the truck 0n 8/5 @ approx. 9:31pm EST. The following day 8/6 I called to get a receipt but I was transferred twice; I got frustrated and hung up. I call back today 8/7 I got transferred 3 times; after the third time I hung up and called back. After a while I was able to get some help. I was told the truck reservation was still open. I was informed the location didn't have time to process the return yesterday and it would be done today. I personally will never rent from them again due to the lack of knowledge the customer service agent has and poor work ethics of employees at the location. Let's see how the story end because I will not be paying any late fees.

      If there were 0 stars I would have selected that as they do not deserve 1 star. This company is the worst. I reserved a truck and never was able to get the truck reserved and was not informed about that until last minute after received multiple confirmations. The local company was useless and Budget 1-800 number has still not called me in two days after telling me they were escalating my request to find me a truck. I had to make last minute arrangements to move and it cost me a premium. I cannot believe this company is a large as they are because they are obviously not professional.

      I reserved a truck online on a Friday, for pick up at 1 PM on Sunday. I got a confirmation number from budget, confirming time and place of pick up. On Saturday, I got an additional confirmation email, stating that it was getting closer to my “move”, and that they would see me on Sunday at 1 PM for my truck. I arrived at the Heath, Ohio budget truck, rental facility, and the woman at the desk said that they don’t have any trucks available there. I pulled up my email with my confirmation number, she didn’t even want to look at it. She said that budget does this all the time, and that she actually doesn’t have any trucks to give me. I verified with her that I had a confirmation, she said there was nothing she could do for me and that if I wanted any resolution, I would have to call the one 800 number for budget customer service. I immediately called that number and provided my confirmation number and explain that this budget facility did not have a truck ready for me even though I had 2 confirmation emails. The customer service representative said that if I would have read their reservation policy, I would see that they do not guarantee their trucks. So, even though I had a confirmation, that did not mean that they would actually have a truck available for me. She said if I wanted to wait a couple hours they could find one at a different facility for me to pick up. I told her to cancel it because I did not have time to wait. She then proceeded to tell me that if I were to cancel my reservation that they would charge me for such short notice. I told her I didn’t understand how they could charge me when it was their fault that there was no truck available. And she again told me that that’s just their policy. She had to talk to a manager to cancel the reservation for me without me being charged. They said they could do it this one time as a courtesy. I appreciate the courtesy of them not charging me for a truck that they confirmedbut then could not provide.never again

      We reserved a cargo van two months before our son's move from Mpls to Chicago. I actually went to the Hiawatha location at the time to look at a van, the two men that worked there were very nice.
      I called two days before the rental date to confirm everything was in order, I was told that it was.
      The next morning I got a call saying the van was no longer available and I would have to call the fleet manager to try to find another vehicle. There was no cargo van or small truck available in Minnesota, they had a 16' truck in Burnsville for an upcharge. We cancelled the reservation. There is a lot more to this story, but the point is....if you are moving, you cannot rely on getting a van or truck from Budget for your move and we found out the day before our trip to Chicago.
      I would not recommend using Budget Truck rental unless you thrive on scrambling the day before your move to find alternative transportation.

      I've rented trucks from Budget Truck every year since 2017, to include earlier this year. However, when I went to pick up a truck for a recent rental, the location had no record of my reservation. I found out later that Budget Truck had changed the location and pick-up date without even telling me! On top of that, they charged me a $75 no-show fee, which they later refunded. Unfortunately, Budget Truck can no longer be relied upon.
