I am beyond frustrated and angry that this company got away with stealing so much money from ppl. I have about four gift cards with a lot of money on each one that are now un-usable. The response theyre giving ppl is that the option to use those gift cards ended in April or May of 2023. What about those of us who didnt get that memo? How were we to know this??? Im outraged and need to know about how to file a lawsuit or if there is already a lawsuit in place where I can get a resolution. Please do not reply saying the option to use gift cards ended. I realize that NOW. But something needs to be done and they need to be held accountable for stealing so much money.Initial Complaint

I received a gift card from buy buy baby 12/2022. The company announced their closure very rapidly along with banning gift card use after a certain date. I made several attempts to use the card online but the website would not accept my gift card. This is unfair as the gift card was purchased and not able to be used.Initial Complaint

I have 2 gift cards/ merchandise credit cards with a balance of over $300 dollars they did not allow me to use prior to the unexpected closure. I went to the store before it closed (in *********, **), and they said due to them closing they will not except it!!! How is that even possible I'm so upset and want to be refunded! I received a $300 gift card for a baby shower that I have been unable to use. The stores have been clear that no gift cards are accepted but they were still selling merchandise, and seem to be opening in fall of 2023 but will not accept gift cards at that time. This is quite a bit of money to lose out on that would help our family very much.Business Response

I have multiple gift cards that were gifted to me that I was unable to use before the store abruptly announced closing and would not take them back. I was traveling for weeks prior to closing and of course did not have the cards on me. I returned after the last date to use the cards. I am outraged that this company is attempting to get away with people's hard earned money and something needs to be done about this right away. I received 2 gift cards a while back for my baby shower and BuyBuy Baby will not allow me to use the money on the card or get a refund. This is ridiculous considering they are open and still allowing people to pay for items but wont allow people to use gift cards which is money people have already spent to give as gifts without allowing them to use that money. That is theft! I would like a refund or be able to use that money before they close. They aren't even allowing you to check the balance on the cards and are just saying they're invalid!! I know at one point I had over 200 dollars so I am unsure of the amount currently on my cards, this is frustrating.Business Response

To whom it may concern,
Overstock.com recently acquired the intellectual property (the name, brand, and company rights) of Bed Bath & Beyond. On 8/1/23 Overstock's website was converted to bedbathandbeyond.com and we began taking orders under our new brand. Our purchase of the Bed Bath & Beyond brand did not include orders, gift cards, or funds from gift cards.
Gift cards issued under previous management expired in May of this year, before our purchase. We are unable to accept gift cards purchased before Aug. 1st, 2023.

I have a significant amount of monies on a gift card and when trying to utilize it at the store was told they no longer are accepting gift cards. Therefore I am now left with hundred of dollars on a card that was paid for that can not be redeemed. If their business is open and still selling goods I don't see how I can not cash out on the money that i originally paid for that's on their card. At this point they are stealing from the consumer while still making money. I am now left in a hole by their unmeans policy.
