It seems as though Buy Buy Baby has decided to steal from their customers since they decided to file for bankruptcy. Buy Buy Baby stole $800 in gift card money, canceled my online order, and deactivated my gift cards so that I can't even take them in the store to use them. They will sell to you if you use real money, or if you take the gift card in the actual store (since that would be obvious theft if they denied you in the store) but since it's online they found a way to "have issues with your address", cancel your order, and clear out the gift cards. For me it was $800. For others I have spoken to I have heard up to almost $2000. I think this company should be held liable for KNOWINGLY stealing from its customers -- this is theft, not one ounce of this is not theft. Pure thievery. They are desperate for last minute money and since they already got our money in the past for purchasing the gift cards they don't want to give us the goods. I am shocked that a company would stoop so low as to STEAL FROM MOTHERS. Some moms I spoke to just had babies and don't have a ***** to spare. I am very upset about my cards that I saved for months to finally use one day are worthless. They phone lines don't work, the chat only started working right before the gift card deadline was happening. This was a planned robbery of it's customers and they should be held accountable for this.Initial Complaint

I am writing this complaint regarding buy buy Baby. I had a baby on April 20th. I received gift cards from hard working colleagues and family members, and when I went to use them in May, I was told I couldnt purchase any items using the gift cards. I understand that buy buy Baby filed bankruptcy and that there was a deadline to use the gift cards. However, as a new mom of two, and a working mom, I was unaware of the deadline for the gift cards. There are things we did not purchase and were looking to purchase once the baby was born. Buy buy baby received the money when the gift cards were purchased and yet, the gift cards are not accepted. Moreover, when speaking to management, I was told to reach out to corporate. I was given a number, which I attempted to call multiple times and the phones remained unanswered. I left voicemails and I have not heard back. I also have attempted to email and I have not received a reply. I would like some guidance in this matter.Initial Complaint

I went to a BBB this past Saturday to spend gift cards that were giving to my daughter from the babyshower and her 1st birthday. We have $165 worth of cards that we couldnt use. Not knowing that BBB is going bankrupt, we went shopping and had no idea gift cards were not being accepted anymore. I wasnt mad at the moment, I was sad and embarrassed that we had to decline to all the items we had in our cart. I was handed a paper slip with information on what I can do for more information. I have searched everywhere for help with no luck, now Im mad. How is it that BBB can just look the other way when taking everyones money. That money was given to ** for my daughter and now she has nothing. We demand a refund, we want the entire amount back. I still feel upset and angry about what we had to go through that day at the store.Initial Complaint

I had some store merch card from BuyBuyBaby which I received from making returns, and due to the store going out of business I was told they are not able to honor my store merch card even though the website clearly states it does. The store representative told me to "throw away the gift card" since there is nothing they can do about the situation. I was not made aware through email/text from the company even though I am a rewards member and I had signed up for their notifications. I believe the company needs to compensate for their incompetence in letting their consumers know about the store closing and what it means to people who have gift cards/merch cards. I would like a refund in the form of a check or a **** gift card for the value on my BuyBuyBaby merch card. Thank you.Initial Complaint

I am filing a complaint because I have been basically robbed and refused my gift card credit and my membership benefits. This company claims because they are closing out that they can not honor my gift card and my 20% off membership as promised and so pretty much saying I have money that I purchased in this store that I can no longer use. I deserve my full refund of my gift card and my membership fee asapInitial Complaint

I was completely unaware of the closing theyre going through and just found out yesterday. I didnt get any emails about it either even tho I am subscribed to their website. I have a gift card of over $40+ from returning an item a few years ago when my first child passed (still birth) since we didnt need the item anymore, we returned it. We used our credit card to pay for it but during return, they told ** its faster if we choose gift card so we did so that in the future we can use it in the store for our future baby. Today, we finally needed to purchase something and to our surprise, the store is closing and they arent accepting gift cards?Thats completely unacceptable. Thats like stealing everyones money. This gift card is from an item we purchased with our money before so thats our money and not theirs to keep and use.Initial Complaint

Business will not accept gift cards that I was given due to their bankruptcy. As a registered member with them I was not notified of this new policy until today when I went to checkout in store. This is stealing to me. They already have the money, and if theyre going out of business and needing to get rid of inventory, whats it to them if I use a gift card? The only people losing money in this situation are the people who bought me the gift cards, this is not fair. They should either accept my gift card, or send me a check so I can take my business elsewhere.Initial Complaint

The business is closing and has stated on their site (in the smallest font provided throughout all advertisements) that they are no longer accepting merchandise credits or gift cards. They provided a limited time-frame to use both or either items. This is money that was spent buy a customer and now the time has run out to use it; and it is lost. They basically stole money directly from a customer and are not providing a REASONABLE time for it to be used. I have small newborn children and an elderly family member that I care for. I do not monitor online sites frequently nor did I receive any information about them closing in such a short time and not allowing their customers to use the money that was spent by customers. This should be grounds for a lawsuit. They are stealing money from customers by not allowing them to use gift cards and merchandise credit within a reasonable amount of time. They announced overnight that they are closing all stores in a matter of weeks. Customers should not lose their own money just because their business is closing. We should have had more time to use our money and there should have been more awareness about the limited time use of the cards. Now I have lost hundreds of dollars because they decided to close their business without proper notice to their loyal customers.
