Contract for bathroom remodel
Agreement signed February 21, 2025.
Project contract was for $20,903.07. Paid in full March 28, 2025
The work to be completed included demolition of existing shower, removal of all debris, hardware, and fixtures. Install new wall panels, fixtures, glass panel, and floor pan.
The installer installed two pieces of hardware in the wrong location or did not consult with homeowner to discuss alternate installation sites for the hardware. Method of installation of the storage shelving prevents water from escaping from the hardware, creating a standing pool of water.
The shower handle panel is not affixed properly to the wall. When the shower handle is turned the panel spins freely.
There is a significant water leak between the shower wall and glass panel. Stabilizer bar was installed without homeowner's permission when salesman indicated it wasn't necessary.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I am the buyer and went against everything I know to be true about awareness and rejecting work that is unacceptable. The installer encouraged me to sign off on the post install check list. It's apparent that this will be used against me in order to obtain full reconciliation of the issue.When I pointed out the incorrect placement of the shower accessories to the installer, prior to signing off on the post install paperwork, he said, "live with this for a week and if you can't live with it, we'll make it right. There is a lifetime guarantee."
Then, post install, and after two uses in the shower, it was evident that there was a significant leak between the shower wall and the glass shower panel. When I pointed this out to the project manager during the quality control inspection, he said "it's just caulk." He offered to repair the caulk and I declined because I wanted all of the incorrect work to be done at one time.

Shower was installed on March 24, 2025. Water doesn't drain or is extremely slow (6 hours). Repeated calls to resolve had one plumber come out who said that he needed specialized equipment. He never returned. I had **** ****** come out to try to resolve but they were unable to because the shower warranty was going to be in jeopardy. I'm handicapped and cannot use the shower as is, it's too dangerous with all the water. Still waiting on Dreamstyle Remodeling for their plumber to resolve the draining problem.Business Response

Last contact (5/2/25)said that they would replace the floor and shower wall to access the shower drain to clear it, but have received no response regarding if new materials have been ordered. So, the man from Dreamstyle arrived today and tried to clear the clogged drain, but, in the process of inserting the snake, and vacuuming out debris, a PVC pipe cracked adjacent to the clogged pipe. Water is leaking from the cracked pipe under my house. The man is on his way back to the office to show the manager pictures and request new materials so that the entire shower remodel is redone! Once the walls and floor are taken down, he will have better access to both the clogged pipe and the cracked pipe; fix those, be sure that water is draining properly, and then redo the shower remodel. Hopefully, it won't take another month!!! Please keep the complaint open at this time.
BTW, the supervisor, ****, was let go, so another supervisor will be coordinating this.Business Response

I have been trying to get replacement 2 window vent latch locks since 13 March. I have called numerous times . I have contacted customer satisfaction twice. Many promises of a call back but has never happened. I can't believe I am jumping through all these hoops for 2 white vent locks. Would really like the parts to be sent to me, and I'll have no problem installing them myself.Business Response

Initial installation of bath remodel was performed well, with the exception of a 48" glass panel that was being installed instead of a shower door, that was not provided on initial installation. When the glass panel was eventually received, install was scheduled and the glass panel frame was damaged. Was told that a replacement was being ordered, and I have made numerous calls to ###-###-#### and spoken to *****, who explained that he has emailed procurement numerous times. On 4/18/2025, I visited the local Dreamstyle in Albuquerque and was given a number to warranty repair that I called. The rep on the phone told me that she needed to transfer me to a supervisor and subsequently transferred me to a woman that does not work for Dreamstyle in Northern California. I currently have a 102" shower rod and curtain that we are using. I need to know when I am going to get the installation completed. I would think that since I still owe 1/2 of the invoice that this would be a priority.Business Response

Was not provided final list of what features I purchased, this was supposed to be in an email but the email only was financing info.
Signed completion form on day of install based off verbal from contractor that all was completed and it looked good so I signed.
Realized the shower was not added width as we agreed upon and spoke to several people who said "we did not pay for extra width". However this was part of the verbal list of items purchased and no price change has been made.
I am still waiting on a receipt showing the dimensions prior, what we agreed to buy in order to confirm if I over paid.
I stupidly believed the project manager when she told me it is easier to sign off then route any complaints by way of a warranty claim.
She and the 3 others who said they emailed my paperwork never did and now no one is even answering my calls.
I understand they do not show itemized pricing but I should get a receipt showing what my appx $16k loan is covering I would expect?! Especially since everyone said they will send it.

I am rejecting this response because:
Work order was not correct. I would have caught this if I received a copy upon signing (was not given time to review bc "would receive copy to review"). Wasn't shown specifics before or after install and still had no copy to review/compare. Finally got copy and am flagging these errors.1) drain was not extended only the walls. That is ridiculous and company/installer should have flagged. Do not want to pay for wall extension cost.
2) charged to move drain position but since the shower pan wasn't extended they did not need to do that work. Do not want to pay for drain move because was not done. Contract clearly states this.
Still awaiting anyone from the company to contact or respond.

In February 2022, Dreamstlye came to do a shower renovation. They completed the work and was satisfied. About 5 months later, the adjacent bedroom had a bowing and water sound underneath the hardwood. Come to fine out, the shower pan, drain, walls were incorrectly installed causing water damage to the adjacent room floor, walls, and baseboards.
The issue was brought up and it took about 4 months to get them to come and fix the floor, walls, and baseboards. The shower got completely redone (even though they wanted to only do the floor pan). I adamantly said the whole shower because no one knew where the leak was coming from exactly. Shower was replaced. During that new shower install or completion, the installer notified me that he couldn't get the glass door straight and to shut correctly or flush with the edges. We asked to have the caulking redone as it shouldn't be coming up as it does so easily.
Come 2023, the caulking starting to come up and this has to be the worst design ever because nothing drains to the drain but sits at the corners and just creates that pinkish color of dirty.
Come 2024, contacted them over and over to come fix the caulking again and shower door. Contacted in mid 2024 and have heard nothing and its 4/17/25. Keep getting the transfer to "appropriate" person at the front desk and of course got the voicemail. Leave a voicemail and nothing comes of it. No repairs, no call backs to see what they can do, no customer service at all. Also leave a service request with the website and I believe that goes into the furthest reaches of anyone in the company.
The Lifetime Warranty is a scam from Dreamstyle and they and their bank are in it for the profits and that's it. They have no customer service, and I wish I would have never had them touch anything in my house. Fixing small things goes a long way with customers and if I could follow any salesman around door to door, I would warn each household to not let them speak one word and to move on.Business Response

In July 2024, we had a kitchen resurfacing completed by Dreamsyle, purchased through our Costco membership. This came from Costco Lead ID ********. which was signed on 5/23/24. The Dreamstyle Lead # ***********
There were two door fronts that arrived damaged and we were assured that the replacement parts would be ordered and replaced. Shortly after the initial installation was complete, a piece of the molding came loose. We reported that along with the request for an update on the work. As of October 2024, no parts had been ordered and no additional work had been completed. In that month, we opened case number ********. We kept complaining over the coming months, including outreaching to Costco. Each time we call, assuming we get a callback at all, we have a new project manager who has no idea what's going on so we have to start over explaining the situation. Six months later, we are on the fourth project manger. We had someone come out in January 2025 to look at the property and clarify what is needed. Nothing came of that either As of April 2025, nothing else has been done. I want to get this resolved. We are not asking for any money back, only that the job be finished.Business Response

I have a lifetime warranty on a shower I paid over $13,000 on just 2 years ago. A part of the construction broke. They refuse to answer their phones for weeks. When I finally hit a hold of a human being (in sales) I was told I’ll get a call within 24-48 hours. It’s been a week and still nothing! * July/August of 2023, company removed tub and installed a shower only
* The business was paid $13.038.82 for the work
* Shower installation came with a 100% lifetime warranty
* I originally called the company February 4th for warranty work for the shower that was installed.
It has begun to delaminate.
*Within a week, they sent an employee to inspect and he told my wife that the entire shower shell needed to be replaced and that's why we have a lifetime warranty.
* I have made at least 6 calls in the last 2 months and no one can give me any answers as to when it will be fixed. As a matter of fact, they showed my case closed after calling to check the status and couldn't tell me why.
* I just want my shower replaced since it started delaminating after 1-1/2 years and it gets very little use in the guest bathroom.Business Response

In 2023 we completed room addition and kitchen remodel with Dreamstyle. At that time there was still a few items that needed to be fixed like a ceiling crack. We were asked to wait 1year for settling and they come and do all pending warranty work. In 2024 I reached out to them because the stucco on the room addition is coming off the wall. I informed them that I believe it’s being caused by leaking pipe they put. I have called them numerous time to get them to come and fix this matter before it gets more damage. Two calls back I was informed that a service ticket was submitted but nobody calls me. It’s been 3 months already.Business Response
