I got a letter in the mail from Superior Servicing LLC informing me that my student loan was due. And that I needed to contact them before I made any payments to Nelnet. When I called them I was instructed to make a payment of $900 so my loan can stop accruing interest charges and to help consolidate my loans.Payments of $299.66 on 7/31/23, $299.67 on 8/30/23 and $299.66 on 9/13/23 were drafted from my bank account. I later contacted ****** about this arrangement and was told that the interest rate is set by Congress for the life of the loan. They told me that I was scammed.Initial Complaint

I received a letter in the mail stating a final notice on my student loans. Called the number talked to one of there representatives. He told me that they consolidate all my loans into one and pay full amount off and I qualify for$49 a month for 240 months. I have to pay a service fee of $799 which consist of two payments of $******. This was on the 12th of January and my first payment of the ****** was on the 19th of January. So I paid the first payment of Jan 19th and something wasnt sitting right with me as I started to really dig and read in the documents they sent and thats when I started to realize this is a junky scam that got me for $******. Mind you Jan 19 was a Friday so Monday on the 22th I left work early to try to get in front of what was happening to me. I was calling and they keep shooting me in different directions. Finally later in the day round was able to get a hold of somebody and cancelled everything. With me reading through the documents it said I had thirty days from first payment to cancel. The representative denied my refund and said I had 3 days after my payment and I told her it is 3 days because it is the 22nd, then she replied it was the 12th that you started. BAD BUSINESS EVERYTHING THEY DO YOU CAN DO YOURSELF!!Initial Complaint

Superior Servicing, LLC claimed to be the student loan company where I have my Federal student loans. They promised that I would only have $6K starting with $399 plus, then $49 monthly payments until it is paid off. Nothing toward my student loans has been paid off since my federal employee debt relief had actually not been granted. It has been since August. I just went into default on my loans. I had the time today to speak to a live person where my Federal student loans are listed. By talking to ****** who actually is to whom I should always be speaking I realized that Superior Servicing LLC is a scam. ****** said that my federal employee loan forgiveness application had not gone through. I did call Superior Servicing and they think they are providing my some service, which they are not.Initial Complaint

Back in August this company sent me a very realistic letter about student loan relief and consolidation for a parent plus loan and one in October for my federal loan. I am paying for both of the loans myself. They took $549 from me twice in August and then $49 dollars from me monthly after that, then another $549 twice for my federal and then $49 a month after. When I got a bill in the mail from my student loan server saying I owed money I called them up and they had no idea what I was talking about. That is how I found it was was scam. I did call the scammer directly said "they are not a scam" etc which is a lie and went around in circles.Business Response

I received mail that stated it was my final notice for my student loans. I called the number to speak to a representative and he told me that I would pay ***** a month but I would need to pay ****** on the 12th of January to start the process. He also said that the process would not start unless I sent off 3 other documents. I told him that I would not be able to pay ****** until the end of February and he said that would be okay. He told me to call before the 12th of January to make sure that I could move the payment to Feb. 28. I called on 01/10/2024 to let the company know when I would be able to make a payment but I also had not sent off any papers to start the process. The woman on the phone then told me the payment was already pending. I told her that I already spoke to a representative and he said that the process couldn't start without me sending documents and that I couldn't afford to pay until the end of February. I also asked her how is it pending already and the payment wasn't due yet. She did not have an answer. I did not see a transaction pending when I checked on my bank account. (01/10/2024) I then continued and told her that there is no money in my account so if my bank charges me would they reimburse it. Then she told me if there is no money in my account the payment would reverse and I wouldn't be charged. I checked my bank on 01/12/2024. And saw that I had been charged ****** and also a ***** fee because there was no money in my account. I no longer want business with this company. I'm not sure they are a legitimate business. I would like my ****** dollars back and I also would like for them to pay the fee the bank charged me for *****Initial Complaint

Transactions - Oct. 19, 2023- $399.00 - Nov. 2, 2023- $399.50 - Nov. 16, 2023- $49.00 Recurring $49 charges every month for 10 years. (This was not paid and cancelled on 1/19)The company committed to providing me with loan consolidation and the filing of a form once a year. This service is offered for free by the US ********** of ********** the complaint is they falsely advertised their service as being affiliated with/run by the US ********** of ********* and charged an exorbitant amount of money when originally advertised as free to consumers. The business is intentionally difficult to get ahold of and makes their 'customers' jump through hoops to cancel recurring charges. After several attempts to contact the business, they eventually responded and cancelled the automated billing/services.When my account number was requested to cancel the plan, the customer service representative was apprehensive about providing the account number and tried to provide the account number to Mohela (my loan servicer) first.Account #: ********* A final notice advertisement (dated 10/2/2023), disguised as being from the Student Loan ********** of the U.S. ********** of ********** was sent to my parents' address which they forwarded to me. I am filing this complaint against Special Servicing LLC for their fraudulent and deceptive practices in relation to the consolidation of my student loans. This company, purporting to work in conjunction with federal government agencies, egregiously misrepresented their services and credentials. Specifically, an individual named *****************************, claiming to be an employee of Special Servicing LLC, contacted me with confidential information, including my social security number and detailed student loan data. He assured me that they were authorized to negotiate and reduce my student loan balance by fifty percent, a claim that led me to believe their legitimacy. Furthermore, ********** guaranteed that this reduction would be reflected in my official account at studentaid.gov. Relying on these representations, I consented to monthly debits from my account, believing I was fulfilling my financial obligations. However, upon recent scrutiny, I discovered that none of these payments have been credited to my student loan account, unveiling the fact that I have been a victim of a sophisticated scam. This misconduct not only constitutes a blatant breach of trust but also potentially violates multiple consumer protection laws. The unauthorized acquisition and use of my personal and financial information by Special Servicing LLC, along with their false claims of government affiliation and loan modification, have caused significant financial harm and distress. I seek immediate intervention to address these unlawful practices and to ensure accountability and reparation for the damages inflicted.Initial Complaint

I received a letter in the mail informing there are new laws discounting federal student loans, so I called to see if I qualified. After signing an agreement with the company, I received paperwork to send to the ********** of ********* to qualify for lower student loan payments. When I reviewed the documents Super Servicing completed I immediately cancelled the agreement as they were fraudulent and inaccurate. I sent the email listed in the contract under their cancellation policy the following: To Whom it May ******** I, the Client, am cancelling this contract. Found out this is a scam. This written request for cancellation or any payment is due to the fraudulent documentation sent to me that I did not authorize. On page two of the *** agreement the boxes for married, but separated and yes my income has significantly decreased were checked. That is not true and I will NOT send the *** fraudulent information. I am already in a repayment plan with my federal loans. Please reply and acknowledge the receipt of this email as well as the termination of the agreement.I have not heard back, but I also request all my personal information be deleted from their database.Initial Complaint

I received a letter in the mail informing there are new laws discounting federal student loans, so I called to see if I qualified. I told them received a letter from them about my student loans impersonating the ******* Student Aid. Saying I was eligible for student loan forgiveness. The letter mentioned "FSA-ID" and the rep ****** told me I could get my student loan of ****** forgiven and went through the process. She told me that ****** will be forgiven and the remaining ****** repayment was going to be $49.00 a month. I had to pay 299 to process the paperwork. And since Superior Services keeps saying that every call is recorded then they know I was complaining of having to come out of pocket. I am still in school and I don't know what student just has $300 just laying around to give away. She said I could predate the check. I said that I don't have checks. And what she informed me that 2 wks later I would start repaying my STUDENT LOAN!!!! She was pushing me to get it done that day and I didn't have the funds. Tellling me you don't want to lose the opportunity of clearing 85% of your student loans. She called me back 2 wks later and I go through with it. This is back in October 2023. She sent me the paperwork via email and I never got around to doing it. But Dec $49. was taken out of my account which states transfer and my Nov, payment of 299. She called me in Dec about the paperwork. I had her resend again because half of my emails get lost and its a search to find them. She runs me the same game and never once did she state that she is a 3rd party. Don't worry about we will take care of everything. We will contact your lender and asks me for my username and password. Today, I am looking through my checking account and I see a check that was cashed from Superior Services LLC with a memo for student loan services. I am puzzled with this so I bank with Capitol One and look on Creditwise and there is where I find out that its free. Everything which creditwise said to be aware of the rep was doing. In there was a list of who actually take of Student loan forgiveness and reducing student payments. When I click on the list it brings me to FASA. MY OWN LENDER DOES IT FOR FREE. **** said to beware of third party because they get you to sign a power of attorney over your student loans. I call up my lender Mohela. Avoid Student Loan Scam.Debt Relief Companies may misrepresent who they are and what they do. For instance, Debt Relief Companies may charge you up-front and/or monthly fees in exchange for promises to deliver services. In many cases, these promises often go unfulfilled, and services unperformed. In addition, what these Debt Relief Companies may not tell you is that these services, such as any repayment plan or option it offers, is already available to you, free of charge, through the U.S. ********** of ***************** a U.S. ********** of ********* servicer, is here to help walk you through all available repayment plans and options at no cost to you. So, you never have to pay for assistance with your student loans.Warning Signs of a Scam If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is...Caution - Signs You're Being Targeted Contacted by someone, or a company, you do not know, about your student loan(s) Asked for upfront and/or monthly maintenance fees to sign up for services Asked to provide your FSAID Username and Password Asked to provide your log-in credentials for www.mohela.com Asked for your credit card, debit card, and/or other banking information Asked to sign a ***** of ******** or Third-Party Authorization Urged to act quickly because loan forgiveness programs are ending Promised your outstanding balance will be lowered immediately Told you that your student loan servicer will not help you The U.S. ********** of ********* Office of ******* ************) and MOHELA will NEVER ask for your FSAID, nor any other log-in information!Debt Relief Companies often impersonate, or imply that they are affiliated with, the U.S. ********** of ********* and/or MOHELA (or, other servicers). This is not the case, and you can find the list of U.S. ********** of ********* approved servicers. Click here for the list of Approved Servicers. You should be careful when signing a Third-Party Authorization and/or a ***** of ********. Providing such authorization, or power, may allow others the ability to obtain additional information, and/or perform various actions on your behalf, respectively.Which is everything that they did. I called my lender explained what happened. They put a note in my file but no payments were made to my student loans. I called several times today and got no one. I called my bank and told them that fraud was committed because I didn't sign anything giving you permission. *********** will be contacting you. I told them what I found and they went on the BBB and saw all the complaints people made about your misleading and misrepresentation of who you actually are. I want my money back. I already changed my password, and *********** opened a new account. But don't worry the old account is still there so you can deposit my money back. I don't want a mailed check since I didn't mail you a check. Just like you took it electronically return it electronically.Business Response
