They have young people come to your door with pressuring sales tactics saying that your bill can be lowered by transition to green energy but your bill really ends up being 3-4x what it was. Against my better judgement I spoke with one of these idiot children and enrolled. After coming to my senses I called MPower to cancel which according to this child could do at anytime with no fees or waiting period. Not only was this ignored but they reinstated themselves on my account without my knowledge after confirming that the account would be closed. I ended up moving out of state but just got a call from the actual utility provider PSEG to tell me I had been getting overcharged for months and that there had been an uptick specifically in my area of these cases. Luckily I will be getting reimbursed but nonetheless MPower is incredibly predatory and is taking advantage of young children who may or may not realize what theyre actually doing. Avoid them at all costs.

This review may not be enough to exclaim my frustration, discomfort, and vitriol towards the unethical practices that I experienced from the people at Mpower. The door-to-door salesperson used every lie they could to have me show them their energy bill/account numbers, press on with an address verification, and sign a contract that would undoubtedly raise my energy bills to unreal amounts. I truly hope that the people who work at Mpower are good people, but then I remember just how ravenous they were when talking to me, acting very friendly and conversational just to wriggle a sale out of me. They will wear you down with positivity, numerous subject-changes, mention that "your neighbors signed up" for artificial peer pressure, and go on and on about how this clean energy makes the world a better place, and how you'll "still be billed by your specific utility company", and use other diction to make you feel like you're NOT being duped into adding to the person's commission.People get paid to do this? People really decide to wake up every workday and think, "yes, today, I shall lie to get a sale for a company that probably that will drop me at the slightest hint of not meeting my quota". Earth to [name withheld]: you're not a "Marketing Consultant", you're a salesperson. Please, find another job that doesn't prey on people, and find a conscience, you unfeeling child.I want to also take this time to give kudos to the genuine and professional customer service people on the phone that helped me cancel this contract. Although retention is part of the job description, they still wanted to make sure that I was satisfied at the end of the call: the REAL job, as it were. This company is using the absolute worst tactics to try and sign people up.The deception, the time wasted, and the overall bitter, unforgivable experience have reminded me that there is no business that cares for humanity, ethics, and trust more than they do their bottom line.Negative twenty stars.

Tried to trick me into signing up by saying that I would get a fine from the city for not being green energy. When I wouldn't sign he wouldn't leave my porch even after I closed the door and said to leave.

HORRIBLE SCAMMERS! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!Absolutely nothing positive to say about them. They have young people come to your door with pressuring sales tactics, say nothing is going to change on your bill and then you bill becomes 3-4x what it was. I had canceled with my power distribution company and they said I didn't need to contact MPower and wouldn't see any charges from them. MPower ignored that and reinstated themselves on my account. They said I had to call them, that Pepco can't just turn it off. I've called both Pepco and Mpower (two of the worst companies I have ever dealt with). They offered me $100 refund after 4 months of overcharging me, but want me to sign off on 3 questions like an NDA saying I wouldn't file any complaints or spread bad news about them. Obviously I declined and told this predatory company to keep my money because I never want to deal with them again and want to let everyone else know to STAY AWAY FROM MPOWER ENERGY. I should've checked BBB first, but ya know, a young college kid was giving me the sob story at the front door while my dog was barking, so I caved against my better intuition.

This company has unethical practices and when bad reviews are mentioned, there is always a scripted reason they give you. I was approached in my building as I was leaving foe work. The young representatives were polite enough, so I listened. They informed me that not only was my building emitting harmful gas but that my neighbors were also already signed up. They even named one. After being explained that MPower was already the supplier to ConEd, and that my bill would lower if I switched to them as the direct provider, I thought it would be a cleaner choice. I then was told to answer a phone call. The reps stood there and had me put the phone on speaker, while a person very quickly asked me a series of questions. I speak multiple languages and I could not fully understand the caller. The representative at my door was quietly instructing me what to say. I thought this was normal practice, until I later read reviews. The next day I canceled the service and was given a confirmation code. The following day Coned sent me a letter saying I had switched to MPower. I dont want this fraudulent and unethical company to provide service. Every response to a complaint is met with we train our reps.. and a third party called you. Clearly all that was done was not ethical at all. I want to be on the no call no knock list and as promised by them, I do not want to be serviced in electric nor gas by this company.

Somehow, one of the sales people for this company arrived into our locked building. Once I opened the door to my unit, I was informed they were there through my electric company, and only needed to check on my bill. I complied because I assumed that since they were in my locked building it must be legit. I was then told in order for this to happen I needed to verify my identity and to have a phone call. Up until this point, I was not asked if I wanted to switch my electric supplier. It was not made clear to me it was a different supplier. It was not until I was on the phone and asked to lie by the sales agent to say that they had left did I realize that this was not though my electric company and was a third party supplier. At this point, I realized I did not want the service but being a young woman home alone in a building that a man somehow had access to, I was nervous and did not know what to do. The sales agent was nice, but asked me to lie to the person on the phone (they asked my to say they had left, when they were right there telling me what to say) and talked over all the questions the person on the phone was asking me, so I could not hear what I was agreeing to. At this point, I just wanted to be left alone and was late for an event, but as I said was nervous because there was someone in my building, I didnt know how they got there and didn't know anything about the legitimacy of the person, and wanted to be safe. After they left, I researched the company. While a real company, it is likely a scam where the sales people coerce you into accepting your offer (as happened to me) and they will increase your bill. I was told that a lump fee would be changed and made cheaper- this is incorrect. The rate of the fee is changing, meaning the fee itself will increase. I am trying to cancel this service but nothing makes sense and I feel taken advantage of. Please, Mpower if you see this, respond!

Great salesperson, but they spoke in a tone that made a young new apartment tenant like me feel like I had to do it (which is their job) but their customer service kept saying the same things to try to keep me even though I told them over and over that I understood and I still would like to cancel the process. (They said they were working with my gas and electricity provider which should've let me know that it was not 100% true). Be careful about them.

Do not trust them. I was threatened by a sales rep to overpower me and gain entry into our building by saying Im stronger than you and holding our door open with his foot. He asked us for paperwork showing that we owned the entire building. Aggressive and disheveled. We had politely escorted his friends out of the building when they couldnt tell us why they were there or who they were there for. They came back later and illegally entered the building again telling other residents that the owners had given them permission to be there. Were a private condo building and already asked them to leave multiple times. Absolutely terrible interaction. Will be calling the cops if they ever come back.
