Regarding account #***************** auto loan. I called to get a close out amount on my auto loan for my 2025 ***** **** on January 9, 2025 which was quoted as $22,102.39 which I then made a phone payment out of my savings account, spoke to an m&t agent who accepted the payment. Thinking it was taken care of, I received a letter from m&t dated January 21, 2025 that my payoff amount is $22,195.53 as of January 31, 2025. Questioning this, I called the bank which speaking with a rep told me my initial payment was not honored and sent back, but not sure why. The account was opened in Buffalo NY and now live in Florida with a ******** ***** bank account. So, I resent $22195.53 from my savings account. Getting no response from m&t regarding this payment, I called them and was told that the money was not honored because it has to come from a checking account. No one ever told me that the money needed to come from a checking account. Do I resent the money through my checking and again on February 4 and again waited with no response. I called today and was told that to close the account I had to pay another $35. This is so frustrating and aggravating. I have tried since January 7 2025 to pay off this loan and receive a lien release so I can register my vehicle and new plates in Florida. And because of this debacule I am still paying auto insurance in Ny and new insurance in Florida. PLEASE help me. I don't think it's right that I have to keep paying interest on this loan due to their errors. I wanted to close it back in January 7. 2025. And am now paying 2 auto insurances and can't register my vehicle in Florida till I get the lien release.PLEASE HELP ME.Business Response

M and T took over my mortgage without my knowledge we signed a contract with movement mortgage my payment was 1470 dollars a month got a email from M and T Morgage saying they took 1992 dollars from the bank wich the bank stopped payment that was 3 days ago today I got email from them saying they took 2555 dollar from my husbands account we don’t have that much in our bank they keep raising our mortgage payment isn’t this illegal I never signed a contract with this companyBusiness Response

I am the owner of **** ***** and had an account with M&T Bank. Due to a slowdown in business, I ceased using the account, unaware that it was incurring a $40 fee. Without prior notification, M&T Bank closed my account and sent it to collections, resulting in a negative report to ***********. This has jeopardized my financial standing and access to banking services.
Desired Resolution:
I request that M&T Bank:
1. Waive the $40 fee.
2. Remove the negative entry from my *********** report.

m &t bank took mortgage payments out of my payments to then for all of 2024 and when escrow hit they tried to negative my 7084.34 which according to client trust they sent them a payment also for homeowners to them because they said even though i was paying all year i owed 7084 and client paid them from my refinance that amount in a wire on 10/31 but that amount never made it to my insurance company so they cancelled me for lack of payment. i paid into m and t bank all of 2024 over 400 a month i cant find out exactly because they refuse to send it to me but they upped my mortgage to almost 1700 a month to cover that and yet still told client trust they were owed 7084.34 so my refinance people sent them the wire i included i got the 6800 check that m&t sent for the mortgage but the insurance and or me never got the other 7084.34 back and anyway the insurance company cancelled me to lack of payments when i only got back 6800 from m and t collecting all year the 7084.34 was never paid to anyone and m&t cant pay it to them they dont want it since they cancelled me it should come back to me periodBusiness Response

Over the course of my loan I have made over the minimum payments. Something happened that accrued a late fee. The institution took my over payments and applied them so that my late fee never got paid and it continued to accrue to the point that I’ve now been reported as missing a payment to the credit bureau. I’ve tried multiple phone calls to resolve issue, I’ve written 2 letters and it’s not getting resolved.Business Response

My payments according to my statement were never applied correctly; Therefore showing we were past due, but that wasn’t the case. I was told via phone by several different representatives that the matter would be looked into and to wait on making any additional payments due to having overpaid for over one year. We were told they were actively reviewing this. We have been contesting the current bill and “past due” amount for at least 6 months. By doing what we were told now the letter says we missed a payment and reported to credit bureau. I really need someone to look over my account and apply my payments correctly and take the information off the credit bureau report.

Communication is horrible, they people who answer the phone tell me it’ll be fixed but the people who I converse with through this platform say it’s my fault. I’ll pay the late fees and move on lesson learned.

I have a joint account at M&T Bank with an uncle who now has dementia. He was the victim of financial fraud, and M&T Bank rightly has fraud alerts on the account. However, I am now unable to use the account and access my funds. Every time I take an action (try to send a check, use the debit card) fraud alert is activated and the account is locked and the transaction cancelled. I have gone into the branch twice to unlock and have called multiple times. I have been told that the people I speak to have no control over fraud alert and don't know what the triggers are and can't change them to allow me access to my own money.
My uncle needs care and I must pay for it with these funds. I have used my own funds, which means M&T Bank has essentially required me to loan them money rather than give me access to my own money they are holding.Business Response

I have a loan with M&T bank for a camper I purchased. My monthly payment amount is $179.88, when I made my first payment on the loan I paid a total of $300. My thought was that the $120 over payment would go towards the principal of the loan. My payment was due on 11/12/24, but i didn't make my payment until 11/12/24 is when it posted. On the statement it notes that if payment is made after 11/19/24 i would owe $188.88 instead of $178.88, a $9 dollar difference if I paid after the 10 day grace period, which i did not. So on my next statement it gave me the breakdown of my $300 payment- $100.20 to principal and $199.80 to interest. I contacted M&T bank because there is no way that the interest payment should be more than the normal $179.88 monthly payment. I explained that i wanted my over payment to go to principal not to interest. They sent me a letter in response saying that because i was three days late paying i accrued interest for those days, $120 in three days! Once again this cannot be correct. I want them to fix this issue plus all of the back interest i am being charged for months now that this payment did not go towards principal. I asked them to show me a breakdown of my loan so i could see what my normal breakdown of principal to interest would be for the first few months of the loan so i could see what i should normally be paying in interest per month but they refuse to tell me this information. In all my statements the interest is changing so much from month to month it makes absolutely no sense. I believe I am being ripped off monthly. I also want to see a full breakdown of my loan from start to finish so I can compare to what they are charging me.Business Response

I want to see the full breakdown of my loan and how each payment should be allocated to principal and interest. Why can they not provide me this information? What was the original breakdown of the first month if i did not over pay? They are refusing to tell me this information and just stealing my overpayment for interest.

This is my 2nd time writing you guys about this transaction! I was giving two provisional credits on my account due to purchase bring fraud. They gave me credit for one of the charges but not the other one. Which makes no sense. Because I’ve never got the service or been to Houston! I live in Texas. At this point the bank is taking from my money. And making me behind on bills. I’m a working mother, trying to make ends meet.

I apparently have an account with M&T (#***************) for which I have no record and which the bank is unable/unwilling to locate. Have just received a 1099-INT statement from them indicating IRS income. If I do have such an account I need to know what it is and should be able to close if I choose. In the past repeated calls to customer service have failed to locate the account, claiming it does "not exist". However it exists well enough to generate an IRS form.
I need M&T to locate the account and provide me with the means to collect any interest and, if desired, close.
