I started my loan with Fairway Mortgage. They wanted me to get an impound account for my taxes and I said no. In order to close on time, they said, the money for the next tax payment has been put aside, let us pay your taxes for just the first year. Which I unhappily agreed to. They sold the mortgage to M&T Bank.
In March, I mailed my payment and received a letter from M&T Bank stating "we do not accept partial payments." I called them to find out what the devil they were talking about. They say they have this $512.68 put in an account to the side. NOT an impound account. So they received my full payment, but had this additional money of mine as well.
I spoke with a man named Chris, he said he would send the money back to me.
About 6 days later a snotty woman named Jessica called me saying that I have to prove the money is mine and they won't send it back. I told her we would not be speaking anymore.
I later spoke with Daphne who said this could all be solved if I just sent the rest of the payment to make up the next payment (which I had also previously offered and it M&T bank said no). Keep in mind, they know the money is mine and refuse to send it back to me. I sent them the remainder amount as agreed with Daphne and they mailed that money back.
They sent me a letter again saying, mail us this different amount and now we'll, this time, accept your payment. I sent the money $142.30. They cashed the check and said I need to pay my mortgage! Never acknowledged receipt. Pretending they don't have it. Pretending they never asked for it.
So they kept sending me letters saying you owe us, you have to pay, come on pay us. They start with the harassing calls, which I just don't answer. THEY OWE ME ALL OF MY MONEY BACK. $654.98. I will then pay the mortgage payment as one check, because they are clearly easily confused and have no accounting skills.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. We are very nearly complete in resolving this issue. There is some disagreement as to amount owed, because they gave back some of my money to Fairway. That cannot be resolved at this time, but I am stating it for the record. Additionally, the company - now that we are agreed that all of my payments are current and I am not late on anything - is still sending me late notices demanding payment. I am supplying this information for the record because I do not know when it will stop. Maybe the system hasn't caught up, or maybe it's still not corrected Thank you for the opportunity to respond. I have talked to M&T banks custom services on several (more than 15) times to fix this issue and they refuse to do anything about it. They never send me my statements for any month for a credit card and call me daily harassing me about a "debt" I have no proof of. I constantly ask for my statements, sit on the phone for over an hour at a time and "correct" the issue. But still I never receive a single statement for the past 2 years I've been going back and forth with them on this and it never gets fixed.Business Response

All this shows is that, in fact, they have not made the requested changes to my account over the years. M&T is discriminating against me and denying claiming during a period my card was lost and stolen. The dispute department approved one claim that was during a period my card was stolen. Another claim I did not use my card and sent in all documents and they are lying saying they never received it and only received certain documents. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. M&T stated my account was overdrawn for 15 days and it had nothing to do with my dispute which a a lie. If my account was overdrawn by 800 already which did the additional 600 come from because what I know about m&t once my account is overdrawn for a certain amount I can’t use my account until I clear the negative balance. My account became overdrawn after I cleared it because of that 1500 that was reversed ! My account was never overdrawn for no 54 days especially when that’s the account I use to pay my mortgage. How M&T did their processing made it look like my account was overdrawn for 54 days and now that I can’t view the account online anymore I can’t prove the lie y’all are stating. And I’m not paying that account until y’all can show me proof my account was overdrawn for 1500 due to other charges and not fendi cause I know that’s a entire lie and once my account is cleared that y’all honored my favor I’m not paying that because y’all are doubling my charges in both of my accounts because y’all lied and said my account has been overdrawn for 54 days not let’s say my account was overdrawn for 800 plus and when y’all reversed the 1500 my account would be overdrawn 1500 reversal plus the 800 so that would’ve put me over 1500 actually my account would’ve been 2000+ so if it was overdrawn for 54 days when did this happened and how my account is only 1500.08 due and more more. It was overdrawn due to another dispute that was reversed that I had to again fight and was eventually granted so the reason for my account being negative was due to the dispute that wasn’t granted and which were granted later M&T is the cause of my account being closed and negative I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. Duplicate Complaint filed and merged with this one: Problem: I disputed a claim sent all information to the dispute department which M&T waited two months to tell me they had after my account was closed because of this dispute. I sent in documents stating ups lied and said they delivered package when in fact I sent the paperwork to M&T where the signature stated was signed by mrs ***** was a fact a lie because she was in treatment for health issues in NEW YORK THAT DAY WHICH I HAVE THE DOCUMENTS TO PROVE AND SENT DOCUMENTS TO M&T so I’m going to try this again before my next step is small claims court against M&T because again I have proof we were not home to sign no package and M&T is discriminating against me with all proof and still siding with merchant after again I sent in proof ! I want that charged reversed before y’all close my personal account because again y’all are not handling this claim correctly Desired Resolution: Refund

I still consider this a discrimination if I sent all documents proving I wasn’t home and ups lied and said I was home after I sent proof of medical documents proving it was a lie especially for a signature of ****** ***** who was not even in Delaware and y’all still denying my case I want my account closed and I will never deal with M&T bank wise financially again. Medical documents proving we was at a treatment center for treatments isn’t enough to prove ups lied because no rap reason from you gues it’s just discrimination. Close my account please. Don’t want no parts of you guys financially. Which is why I closed my savings account now close the checking y’all are backing a company with a lie instead of fighting for your customer. Close my account I’ll get my money back. I tried to close my account I couldn’t close it because of what y’all did I’ll will transfer the 110 I owe to that account and the 60 dollars reversed credit. The 1500 and the 59 y’all reversed. Can be figured out after I finish getting my money back. Discrimination is its best in the dispute department even with documents you will never be believed. I purchased a vehicle at Courtesy ***** *** in Louisville, KY on 03/26/2022. The dealership forced me to finance through M&T bank. That was fine, but I told them my plan was to pay off the loan early. I asked if there was any pre-payoff penalties. The finance persion said as long as I make three payments, there will be no penalty, so I agreed to the loan. I made my 3rd payment and desided to pay off the vehicle. M&T bank changed me $1200+ because I paid off the vehicle early. I was told there would be no pre-payment penalty. I need that penalty refunded to me as I was told there would be no penalty by the car dealerships loan officer.Business Response

I made arrangements to purchase a new RV trailer from a dealership, a trailer that they could not provide. So I arranged with a different dealership to purchase the exact same model new trailer for a very similar price (<.3% difference) Down payment was the same, I am the same person with the same +800 credit rating. I was turned down by M&T with the first dealership and offered a slightly higher interest rate loan. The second dealership had no such issue.
Looking into the question I found that this is very likely a credit scheme common with car dealers and disreputable lenders to mark up the interest rates.
I did not realize M&T was the disreputable lender of the first dealership or I would not have accepted the loan at the 2nd dealership.
Calling M&T to get my loan information (so I can pay the darn thing) they had me on hold for over an hour and refers each for give me the information so I could setup the auto payments. (I’m expecting the late payment letter from them any day now)
I can not provide the account number because account numbers are not available when you sign loan papers. M&T refused to resend the information out (they say they sent it I have not received it) or provide account information over the phone because I did not have the account number. Obviously they had access to the account from my SSN or they would not have known they “sent the information already”.Business Response
