      This bank took over People's bank in Oct. Many bank members and I'm sure many in the future will request bank statements. When they are sent through the mail this bank should NOT be sending members statements with their personal information riddled throughout. Someone needs to do something about this.

      My bank statements that were sent through the mail were OPENED when I received them. I am now missing mail which included a check. I am in the process of trying to cancel that check but if it gets cashed by some criminal before I have a chance to put a hold on my account, I want M&T bank to do right by me and refund me this money. I sat on hold with their fraud department twice now for over 3+ hours. I think its absolutely disgusting they don't have a fraud department after hours. They are a bank for goodness sakes.

      I sent a check in the mail that was intercepted, doctored, and cashed by an individual it was not meant for. The pay to, date, and amount on the check were all changed. I submitted all the paperwork to get the full amount of $4,950.00 credited to my account on Oct 27, 2022. I was told the credit would be issued in 10 days but I still haven't received it. The M&T bank branch (1680 K Street Northwest, Washington, DC, 20006) and corporate have been unhelpful in resolving this dispute no matter how many times I call and how many different people I speak with. I feel I have run out of options dealing with M&T Bank.

      I applied for a loan over the phone for a 2012 vehicle and was told it was going to be submitted as an auto loan. Turns out, they submitted it as a personal loan. Denied. I call and they tell me to resubmit the loan application as an auto loan with a cosigner. I do just that and was denied again. I call and was told the loan needed to be submitted as a personal loan due to the year of the vehicle. I was told to apply AGAIN but this time as a personal loan. My credit is shit because it's been hit twice in a week and now I'm being told to apply a third time for their mistake? Atrocious.

      I opened a promotional checking account with a $250 bonus program. I followed all of their criteria, but misunderstood that I had to click off on something on their phone app and forgot to check it off. They would not honor their bonus for not checking it off. I am not familiar with their phone app and made a mistake. So now they will not honor the bonus program which I had money in the account since July and now am not receiving the bonus. I think it was unfair treatment.

      I m having a frustrating time EVERY time I log in to M&T bank ever since I updated my operating system on my computer. EVERY time the system says they have to send a passcode. For everytime except once, I NEVER receive the passcode. The ONE time i did, it said the passcode was invalid. Either way, it takes me to a place asking for a mortgage account number (which i don't have) or checking account number (which I never use nor care to just carry around with me...for what??)

      For the love of God, have your system memorize my computer already! So i don't get flagged and having to call in everytime!!

      On 10/26/22 renewed a certificate of deposit for 12 months at a rate of 2.96% with a yield of 3.00%. When I received the official letter from M&T Bank showing a rate of 0.030% and a yield of 0.03%. The letter said it was issued 10 days after the renewal date, but I did not receive it till 11/21/22. I called the bank at 1-800-724-2440 and talked to Irene who said she could not correct it and transferred me to Amanda who said she would correct it and send me a corrected letter. This call occurred on 11/21/22 when I got the letter. She agreed to send the letter out so I would get it within a week. So far, no letter and the local bank shows someone tried to correct it but could not. I have a form showing what the correct rate was on 10/26/22 that my wife demanded as they do not give out that information normally. It appears M&T Bank does not want to provide documents at the time of a transaction so they can change what they want. They were fined in 2014 by the federal government for changing customer accounts without authorization. I have all the documents that show what we were given for the renewal we agreed to. We want the correct rate or they can simply give us the cash amount f the cd on the renewal date. Also, if they correct the rate it should be retroactive for interest from 10/26/22. We hope you can resolve this as M&T Bank shows no real interest in correcting their bait and switch scheme. account **************

      This complaint just adds another CD account to the original complaint case #********. I got another notice about another CD account # **************. I renewed it on Nov. 3 and just received the notice on 12/2/22 and the letter was dated Nov. 18. It took a month to get the notice that's supposed to be sent within 10 days. Still the same problem as the other CD. The rate should be 2.96% with a yield of 3.00%. Instead, they say it's an interest rate of 0.030% and a yield of 0.03%.  Same old bait and switch. And I do have paperwork that I demanded on Nov. 3 showing the correct amount. I also sent this info to the Bank as they sent me an e-mail saying I should send them any concerns.

I do not trust this bank at all. If they send me the required notice that should show the corrected rates, I will accept the terms. I really thank the BBB for their work on my problem. I will let you know when I receive their letters.

      M&T Bank merged with Peoples United Bank in August/September of 2022. In September I received 2 statements, 1 with each bank, for the same mortgage payment. On 9/2/22 I went into the bank to see which one needed to be paid. I wrote a check in the amount of $1275.00. In October, I recognized that the September payment was not processed. On 10/8/22 I went back into the bank to inquire on the amount due, and investigate Septembers missing payment. I was told the database was inaccessible on weekends and that they would have to wait until Monday to look into the missing payment. I made my October payment in the amount of $1275.00 at this time. As of Thursday, 10/13/22, I still had not heard back from the bank. I took time off of work to go back to the bank a third time so they could investigate, while the database was accessible. I was told they were going to issue a "lost payment request" to resolve the issue. My October payment, Check # ***, was processed through my checking account on 10/11/13. On 10/15/22 I was issued my November statement in the amount of $3,825.00, which included the lost payment in September and the October payment, which was never applied to my account, even though it was withdrawn from my checking account. On 11/5/22 I went back to the bank a fourth time to try to find resolution. I was advised at this time to not post any more payment to the account until the September/October payments were resolved. I feel this puts me in a liability situation, when I am already receiving threatening letters that my account is now in default.

      M&T Bank Loan Number: ********** I purchased a new home in June 2021. M&T Bank purchased my mortgage from the lender Fairway that I worked with to buy the home. M&T Bank has yet to successfully pay Liberty Mutual for my home owners insurance despite me making 19 monthly payments on time to M&T Bank, which included the mortgage amount. This has resulted in my home owners insurance being cancelled by Liberty Mutual twice and on the verge of being cancelled a 3rd time due to non payment and past due amounts. I have instead needed to pay for the entire home owners insurance out of pocket to Liberty Mutual while also paying M&T Bank. Additionally my home owners insurance has gone $200 per year and I now have less benefits due to being considered an at risk lender. Multiple phone calls to M&T Bank has resulted in them confirming they have the correct details on file for Liberty Mutual but still have failed to even send the money to them. I am seeking M&T Bank to fix this and reimburse me the double amount I am now paying for insurance.

      I pay my rent every month through Cashapp. My rent is $1200. It’s already been pre-approved so as not to be marked as fraud. For the first few months there was no issue. Suddenly this month M&T declined the transaction and said to contact customer support. They then forward me to the fraud dept who never answers. I’ve sat on hold multiple times for 3 days now, anywhere from an hour up to 3 hours! When I call customer service to tell them nobody answers, they just say they must be busy and forward me back to sit on hold. I’ve explained to them that nobody answers and was told “sorry you just have to wait”. I’m unable to get to the bank in person. How am I supposed to get this issue resolved if nobody answers the phone?

      Since Sept M&T is declining my auto pay transactions without notice or explanation. I am losing discounted rates and paying late fees. I was told my card was locked due to fraud, I wait 1.5 hours on hold for the fraud dept. when I realized that was a fraud and nobody would ever pick I went to the branch, who admitted its no less than a 2 hour wait time. They said bc my card actually works for purchases they do not know why T-Moblie, Powerhouse Gym, and Progressive insurance isn't getting paid and they refused to issue the credit after they saw the increased payments for all. I have called the 24 call center they said they don't know what to do and would not be able to escalate the issue so I'm stuck, well I have to keep the account open if I want the refunds that they can not address. These company's have the MT card on file and I am able to pay them with the same card after the fact, paying more than my autopay discounts.
