I recently reviewed my credit report and noticed an inaccurate and invalid account reported by M&T BANK. This account is not valid, and its presence on my report is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Under the FCRA, all reported accounts must be accurate, verifiable, and legally collectible. This account does not meet these standards, and I am requesting its immediate removal. I have not received proper validation of this debt, and without sufficient proof, it should not be reported.
I am formally disputing this entry and requesting that it be deleted from my credit report. If the furnisher cannot verify the accuracy and legitimacy of the account, it must be removed in compliance with federal law.Business Response

M&t called asking for an **** ******. Don't know who the **** that is but it ain't me. My dad's number is the one they keep calling and he is dead, keeping his phone on until probate is done. Nothing in dads credit report feom them. Dads name was ***** so not him anyway, but just making sure as i ive had a debt collector ask for the wrong person so they would call back. He didn't know anyone by that name either. M&t is collecting a debt and I have no idea why they won't leave me alone as I'm not him.Business Response

I guess you could see the date of the transaction would be at the end of January starting on or around the 26th and carries the entire month of February and it's entirety.
This is several of multiple more claims that need to get processed and the ridiculousness of this to do them all at one time,Continuously suggesting I need to shut the car down while I'm on the road out of state traveling and the awareness thereof, unwillingness, furthermore to line by lines or through each item.
I would love the opportunity like a normal person to have the proper turnaround time which is usually three weeks within disputing any kind of charge; credit card or otherwise.
Normally there is a fax number and I can provide that if you would like to see how any of the pre-existing ones showed up. Unfortunately, at the time of the domestic violence, I got messed over by this bank to the tune of $3500 because of the same exact behavior, which I am not gonna tolerate this time around! They refuse to re- open the claim the last time so I feel I have no other choice but to escalate this to someone who can hold them responsible for their ridiculous behavior. furthermore, they don't even have the disputed amount correct on the *****, which is a total dispute given the fact that they stole their own car out of my handicap parking spot.
The full valuation is up at state not what they decide as a banking institution, so that's not even what I originally got the case number for. The number should reflect. I am in no mood to play games with this bank again not for this kind of money and this is just the beginning. I have a total of 22 different disputes and this is all they've sent me.

WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT BANK WITH M&T!!
Switched ******* bank over for his dedicated account 6 weeks ago, his back pay was put in two times. And the bank bounced it back, called the bank again today AND THEY SHUT DOWN THE ACCOUNT WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE ???? but yet it’s still showing on my app -$7.50 for a monthly charge because there was no money in it BECAUSE THEY KICKED BACK HIS BACK PAYMENT.
That’s not even including the three separate times I had to go back and “sign” a paper because they “didn’t do it right.”Business Response

I sold my home last year and had 2 outstanding liens on my house that I was not aware of. I refinanced my mortgage with M & T Bank twice and they did not close out the old mortgages when they issued the new ones, so I incurred charges from my lawyer to do that. I also bank with M&T and gave this info to the bank manager. Months passed and I asked her to resend the info again, both times I have heard nothing back, that is why I'm contacting you. I'm seeking reimbursement for the highlighted areas. 2/1/2024 charge of $295 plus the 2/13/2024 charge of $115. I was assured by the M&T Bank manager the second time I contacted her that I would be hearing from someone from the company. I take people for their word so that is why my contact with you is about a year out if you look at the invoice date on my sheet as I was waiting for them to help me and in all honesty forgot about this as many months have passed. An issue with the escrow account. I am a disabled veteran who is 100% exempt from property taxes in Texas. I got my exemption in July 2024. I filed my paperwork with the county and they gave me a document showing I am exempt. I sent it to the bank which handles my mortgage. They told me they needed my property taxes at the end of the year to adjust my escrow account to reflect this change. I waited until the statement came out and they paid my property taxes. Then called them again to get it adjusted and requested an escrow analysis. They denied me that in January 2025 because I had one scheduled for February. After the analysis, they did not adjust my account to reflect the 100% tax exemption. I called them again and requested a review of the issue. They contacted my county tax office which confirmed I was not going to pay any property taxes in 2025. However, they still refused to adjust my escrow to show this because the county didn't update its website until July 2025. SO not again they told me I will have to wait until my 2025 taxes are reflected on the county website before they will adjust it.
I called them again and explained that the paperwork was completed and my tax office confirmed I was to pay no taxes in 2025 and I would like my escrow to reflect this. Again they refused saying the only way for this to be adjusted is when my 2025 tax analysis comes out. I find it hard to believe that nothing can be done to correct this issue. It saddens me that a bank would force a disabled veteran to pay more into escrow than he is supposed to be paying just because they can. I'm on a fixed income due to injuries I acquired fighting for this country and every little bit helps. They have confirmation that I am tax-exempt but still refuse to adjust my escrow account. I don't know if this is because they still want to make money off of what I pay or if their company just doesn't care about their veterans. But neither would surprise me at this point.Business Response

on 1/5/25 i deposited money in an atm at this location when door for atm closed snow fell in with money atm malfunctioned and didnt print receipt i immedidately called mt to file complaint. they issed a credit to my account i just received a letter that they determined no wrong doing on there part and took money back. i requested camera footage be reviewed and they stated they cant do that.Business Response

My wife (******* **** ******) and I had a home Equity loan with M&T dating back to 05/21/2007
This loan was paid off and the Lien Release was never filed.
We’re now attempting to use some equity in our home and cannot because the title company is showing that there is a lien on our property. I have attempted to deal with the local branch where we acquired the loan and have been unsuccessful in finding anything out! The credit union that we’re working with says we cannot move forward until we have this release of Lien or Something from M&T Bank/Mortgage indicating the loan is paid!Business Response
