      My mortgage loan just transferred to this bank and all of these bad complaints are scary, I am behind on my April mortgage and when I tried to pay it may 4th they wouldn't not allow me to pay just the month I am behind on and they combined april and may payment together and I am just 6 days into may and have until the 15th before it's late. They lock you out of your online account on purpose so you can't make a the monthly, and reject the phone payments unless you pay 2 months all together for a payment you're not even behind on yet. The phone payment system gives you the biggest run around ever and the service reps constantly misinform you. I feel like this bank has put in place tricky terms in their policy to purposely make home owners default on there mortgage payments so they can foreclose and steal their homes. I never had these issues with my last mortgage lender. I have been in my home for 11 years with no mortgage lender problems and soon as I get bought by M&T. All The problems start.

      I have had a checking and savings account with M&T bank just a month short of two years. I have never received a debit card. I would receive a temporary PIN number, which arrives separately, but never a debit card. I’ve since moved twice, and have had to update my address. I wait the mandatory 2 week wait period, call to order my card, only to find out the banker I spoke to previously, entered my address wrong (spelling). Even after spelling it out. It’s so bizarre.
      Today, I called to order my card/PIN (again) and was met with a distasteful customer service experience. After providing my banker with the necessary information, I politely asked my already irritated banker, to put in my order. I was told that a PIN does not get mailed, just the debit card and I set the PIN upon arrival. I know this not to be true as I have received temporary PINs before. I communicate that to my banker, it further irritates him. He informs me that he put in an order for my card and nearly hangs up on me.
      I call back, speak to a supervisor, and I'm informed that I can’t get a card sent out because my address has just been updated. I did not update my address, that’s not even what I called for, I’m beyond confused at this point. I let her know I updated my card 2 weeks ago and I intended on ordering a card/PIN, that’s when she tells me there’s no record of me calling 2 weeks ago. I asked, “was it 3 weeks”? She replies, “yes”. Although I’m aware of her condescendence, I shared that I just wanted to be sure I didn’t call back prematurely.
      It was extremely hard to get a word in, as she was continuously talking at me, answering questions I didn’t have. Dismissive. I was left feeling like I was being unreasonable, hard to deal with and at fault. The entire interaction today was beyond frustrating and rude.
      I Will say, my previous experiences speaking with bankers has typically been pleasant, despite consistent errors. However, today was enough to close my account. Not worth it.

      If I could give m&t zero stars I would. Matthew is rude as well as all the other customer service reps. They make it hard to get answers & get issues resolved. This is the worse bank ever. Hopefully ***** will put an end to M&T also.

      My mortgage was transferred to m &t and I am not happy with them. I have not received a statement for three months from them. I even set up automatic payments and they told me that the information was wrong, even though it was correct. It's funny how my house payment went to 1040 a month from 800. I am going to transfer my mortgage to a lender that is in my city and state. Beware when the weather is bad and the mail is slow they will charge a late fee. I don't recommend this company.

      This company is deplorable. Last week i transferred money from one of my accounts to another one of my accounts, which is supposed to go in right away, and the teller at the ******* **** *** **** M&T branch in Seymour CT on Bank ST did not transfer it correctly. I went to go pay a very large vet bill and was not able to because the money never transferred. Upon realizing this i called the bank and spoke to the manager Allison, who told me she was to busy to help me and would call me back. However, busy or not, i needed my transfer fixed so i went to the bank where she continued to be rude, made me wait outside in the middle of the grocery store (the bank location is in a store) even though they had empy offices. As a customer, i should have been sat in one of those offices while Allison fixed the issue her teller made. It was not until after i called the M&T call center and spoke to a manager there and he called the bank location that Allison fixed the issue. This was after i waited for 25 minutes, so she had an adequate amount of time to help me, she just chose not to. After the manager of the call center called her, she came out from hiding in her office, to tell me that i was making a scene and she did not appreciate it. However, there was no scene made, which can be verified by viewing the cameras for thar day
      Flash forward to friday and ******* issued me a cashiers check, and took the funds from a different persons account. When i went back to correct it, because i'm honest, she told me it was my fault for putting a wrong account number, however u did not fill out the withdrawal slip, she did, which can also be confirmed by viewing cameras. She later called to tell me $1400 of mine would be on hold while she fixed the error SHE made. Why does the customer have to pay for your employees careless mistakes? I will ne bringing this even higher up as far as i can because its disgusting business practice.

      Please pray to God that this company never gets your mortgage. They steal the money that is meant for your Contractor, and play games about trying to pay them. They are extremely unprofessional, and will hang up on your Contractors when they are trying to get information.

      Are constantly telling us different things about our mortgage loan. They are constantly trying to make us go into default and cannot get anyone to explain anything to us. Constantly having to fight our own mortgage company is not right.

      Upon purchasing a travel trailer, the finance dept at dealer was able to get my trailer financed through M&T bank. This decision was unfortunate through multiple reasons . I set up automatic payments to avoid missing payments. This was the first mistake. I made a large payment to get ahead of the loan. Well the system decided it wasn’t in the banks best interests to lose interest on the loan so it halted automatic payments without notifying me. When I notice the payments were halted, I contacted customer service to get to the bottom of this situation. Upon receiving updated information, I decided to make another large payment. Unfortunately this amount went solely to interest because I was behind on the schedule interest due to the fact that the system halted payments without my authorization. M&T banking system is designed to screw customers which are trying to get ahead of the loan. The customer service representative notified me that it’s normal practice to screw their customers. They’ve been doing it for over 150 years according to the representative.

      I have had more than 3 instances where I’ve tried to make purchases my card declines, my account gets locked or I need to to wait over 10 minutes for verification codes to get sent to my email. I’ve had my son stranded, my dogs running around the vet because my vet needs to get paid and me waiting for the rep to help unlock my account for no reason at all because I can’t use my card. It’s ridiculous and not necessary. Very frustrating and unnecessary ways of verifying information. Usually over less than $100 transactions or ***** payments

      Ridiculous place. Every time I call the person I talk to tells me something completely different every time even after reading the notes left by previous people. Never know what the truth is and feel like I’ve been lied to about my mortgage loan and have been screwed over constantly
