In response to the complaint-- The warranty company paid for the repairs for the transmission. The transmission is done. He also needed an engine tune up. It took him 3 months to come up with the funds to pay for the repairs. He had an aftermarket key which lost its programming, So we had to pay to have it reprogrammed. He also has electrical issues that we are working on for free As of right now, we are at 16.4 hours of free electrical work. It should be done by the end of next week. As of now it's at approx. $3000 in free repair. So, I can see why he would complain about that.Initial Complaint

After contacting the names company I spoke with Steve who all but admitted to not fixing the issue and a misdiagnosis of my vehicle. After telling him it's on them to rectify the problem he told me "I'm just one of those ppl". I don't know what that meant but I took it to be a very racially motivated comment. The conversation ended with him ultimately telling me he is not going to repair the issue that it was taken in there for from the start on Oct. 31, 2022 and paid for in the total amount of $1800 on Nov 1, 2022. By Nov 2, 2022 the issue had not only resurfaced but worsened resulting in me having to pay a $175 tow from the suburban area of the city. I am not comfortable returning my vehicle there as I feel like it will not be taken care of but rather vandalized more. The shop is not trustworthy as it stands at this time.Business Response

Took vehicle into shop to see what the problem was. After several days of them having vehicle, was told it was the engine. After agreeing with Paul S******* to a set amount of $7000 for a new engine, and making the prepayment in full in good faith, after month later, now its the transmission, which had no problem when it was brought in for repair. Furthermore, they want to charge an additional fee just to look at it when we had an agreement on set amount that would fix it at the agreed price.Business Response

He brought his vehicle to us with a blown motor, he also has an internal transmission noise. While the vehicle is able to be driven, it does need more repairs unrelated to the Motor. He has a 3 year, 50k warranty on the motor that he can take anywhere in the country. At his point he doesn't want the transmission worked on, however it is separate from the work that was done on his vehicle.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
That is not what took place I brought my truck to them to find out what was the problem with it. They said they need to keep the truck for three days. They came back and told me that the truck needed a engine. We negotiated with Paul a price for the engine of $7000. They now turned back and tell me now that there is a noise that is coming from the transmission when they diagnose the truck the first-time they should have found. Which they did not find a problem with it. wrong with I paid them $7000 to fix the truck not to have a new problem that was not diagnose. They said the engine in the first place. That's why we even got to the part about putting a new engine in the truck so now they trying to get more money it is not so pleasing, why would I be going through this I would've never agreed to pay $7000 for engine. I got all problems but they diagnosed it wrong they should fix it. Please, I don't have anymore money. I just wanted to say and the engine was guaranteed for three years and 100,000 miles not 50 and even though they don't do inspection with Paul W*** said he will get it inspected. This is what happen not the way they say. I can't get any satisfaction on my service with Continental Transmission. After diagnosing problem of my vehicle as the engine and me paying said price of $7000, now they are stating there is a problem now with the transmission. They are asking for more money which I DON"T have. I feel this problem should have been detected when they had my vehicle for several days and there main service is dealing with transmissions. Also, they should complete the job at NO additional cost to me.. I would appreciate it, if you could EXPEDITE this resolution on this matter. I DON'T have any more funds for storage of my vehicle at their place of business, should they want to charge for that as well.

I brought my car in for work and was quoted between $2,000-$4,000 and was told they could finance me. They stated the financing would not charge any interest for a year and my payments would be about $70/biweekly. I agreed to this.
The next day after the work had been done and it was time to pick up my car (Friday evening), I was told I could not have my car back until I signed the paperwork which stated there would be 100% interest charged on this work after 100 days. The gentleman said he was sorry, he made a mistake the day before when I had made the agreement and there was nothing they could do to help me and that I would have 18 months to pay more than $8000 for the $3000 worth of work that they did.Business Response

Hi- Please know that the financing company is separate from our company. The customer must read and e sign in order to get the financing, so **** was well aware of what she read and signed. Also, we do not start a job unless we have half down. Therefor, she applied prior to us starting her repair. She applied PRIOR to the repairs, read the terms and signed for it electronically.Customer Answer

The young man said I had 1 year no interest. I can show proof of what time I e-signed which was immediately before picking up the car, because they would not let me take the car until I did. I would not have been able to be out of a car for his long. The young man apologized three times and said it was "his mistake". This should not be allowed to continue happening to anybody.

3 months or little my transmission was done by Continental Transmission on Hertel Ave in Buffalo a month later not even a full month motor and transmission fell out of my car. They started putting it back together and has nothing but problems to this day and my car sat there for a month and a half they said they put new motor mounts in it, but lied and did not put trans? in. So I went there and picked my car up and still nothing but problems and issues with the car and transmissions since. Found dents all over my car that were not there before having them fox my car. I've been told by many others through there that they ? have nothing but problems and has to go elsewhere to fic there cars.

He had his engine done by someone else. He came to us to install a used transmission that he purchased. He later came back to us with a broken ENGINE mount. We did not install the engine. We installed the transmission. We did numerous free repairs for him, including air conditioning which has nothing to do with a transmission. He has $600 worth of unpaid bills owed to us for 2 different vehicles he has at our shop.Customer Answer

This is our second time responding to this! He purchased a used transmission and had us install it. We did that properly. He a used motor put in from another facility. His car is barely road worthy, and he still owes us money from repairs to his other vehicles. His complaint doesn't even make sense, and his transmission did not fall out. We did for free a/c repair work and upper motor mount all of which were no charge. He is all set!!!!!

I brought my car to Continental Transmission to fix an issue with my transmission as well as a cylinder 4 misfire.
Paul at Hertel went over charges and their repair process with me. We discussed the misfire, the rough idling and the feeling it would stall out. He quoted a worst case scenario price of $3000.
The next morning he called me with an actual price of $5800. What happened to the worst case scenario price? He said all the coils and plugs needed replaced to fix the misfire.
When I voiced concerns and wanted reassurance this would fix the misfire, he chuckled and said this would get my car up and running, good to go. I took out two loans and picked up my car the next day. He told me there was a 2 year, 24,000 mile warranty and I drove off trying to ignore the feeling in the pit of my stomach that I’d just been taken advantage of.
That feeling got worse when an hour later my check engine light came back. I also noticed that it was still idling rough, and that at about 35 miles an hour it felt like it might stall out. I immediately called Paul and he assured me that it was just a fluke so I should bring it back. After diagnostics, he told me it was a stored code and there was no current misfire. He cleared the code and all was well. It wasn’t even 15 minutes later when it came back on. This happened a total of four times. Check engine light. It’s a fluke. You’re fine.
I finally went to my regular mechanic to have it scanned. Their scan confirmed an active misfire in cylinder 4. They were appalled that Continental kept sending me on my way without fixing the misfire.
I dropped it back off to Continental, hoping this would be covered by warranty. After over a week of repairs, a replaced cylinder head, gasket and timing chain, I paid an additional $2200 to fix the same misfire I already paid them to fix. My total cost was $7000. I think the worst case scenario was bringing it to Continental in the first place.Business Response

The customer came in with several problems: Transmission Issue and multiple misfires in her engine. She agreed to having her transmission torn down to the point of failure for $700 and once it was out and apart we would quote her a price for what it needed (in addition to the $700).
When it was torn down, we gave her and her dad a price for the transmission. She then asked for an engine tuneup (plugs and coils) as well as the transmission repair because she had multiple engine misfires in her vehicle. We did quote her for the transmission, and the tuneup. She agreed to the repairs: Transmission and Engine tune-up (coils and plugs). Repairs were made the very next day and given a 12 mth/12k mile warranty.
She came back later with a head problem, which is separate from the work that was performed. At that point we quoted her a discounted price for head work which she agreed to.
Later she came in and spoke to the owner, Greg, who further discounted $400. She received over $600 in discounts and work was performed that was authorized.
All work was done properly and comes with a full warranty. She has not complained about the quality of the repair at all. She has a warranty. I understand they are costly repairs but we provided her with parts, labor and service in which she authorized. Perhaps she is having buyers remorse.
