On or about September 2022, I contacted Waste Management to cancel their garbage pick-up service.
No contract was signed.
An electronic payment of $67.14 was posted on September 7, 2022 by the company for billing period 9/1/22-11/30/22.
Shortly thereafter, I called the company to inquire about the refund charge. I spoke with Kathy whom told me that a refund check will be mailed because "I see the cancellation note."
On November 5. 2022 I contacted the company again requesting status of the refund... was told that a check was mailed on November 21, 2022.
On December 5, 2022, I attempted one last time to call the company. Representative Harold answered the call; after listening to my issues, he told me the reason I haven't received the refund check is because they "never got the container." I reassured him that the container was taken by the company because it is not in my property. The representative agreed to reverse the bill, and mail me an itemized invoice statement with the refund check. He finally indicated that I should be receiving the information within 7-14 days.
The invoices are mailed quarterly.
As can be seen from the attached invoices and their calculations, Waste Management is acting in bad faith to cheat customers out of their hard earned money.Business Response

I am writing in response to Ms. ********* complaint. Ms. ******* closed her account effective 9/25/2022. We attempted to remove the containers on 4 separate occasions but the containers were not out for removal. Our Office inadvertently charged for 2 containers instead of one. After Ms ******* called us when she received the invoice, we credited both cans and proceeded with sending a refund. A refund in the amount of $40.71 was sent to Ms *******. Dear Representative, I can attest that the container was left for County Waste's pick-up. My responsibility was to leave the container on the last pick-up date, which I complied with. Also, I have not received any checks from County Waste and/or a pro-rated itemized invoice. In lieu, of their allegations, I will like to be provided with proof of the attempted dates of the container pick-up, and the check cancelled for verification that it was mailed and cashed, in accordance with the company's response. The total amount for billing period 9/1/22-11/30/22 is $79.31. Ms. ******* paid $67.14 which left a balance of $12.17. After she cancelled on 9/25, we credit services for October and November in the amount of $52.88, since she originally short paid the invoice, the refund amount was $40.17 which was process on 11/23/22. I set up an account with County Waste when I purchased my new home approximately 2 years ago. At the initial phone call, I was told they no longer supply recycling bins and that we would need to provide our own, but rest assured they dump the recycling by hand and not by truck to avoid damaging the cans. We went out and purchased 2 recycling cans and began setting them out with our garbage. Right from day 1, they used the trucks to dump the recyclables. Over the course of 2 years, they destroyed the cans making them completely unusable. One was completely cracked down the side and the other had the lid smashed in and unable to close. Recently I purchased a 3rd bin and after about one month, I have video showing they dumped the entire bin into their truck and drove off.
I reached out to them to explain the situation and was told they provide bins and we should never had gotten our own. They said they would have one delivered within 2 weeks. It's now been 2 weeks and I am still waiting. My house looks like a dump with all of the recyclables that I am unable to dispose of.
Another phone call to the company and they said there was nothing notated on the account that we were told we had to provide our own bins. That's what we were told. I don't really have money to throw away on bins that aren't needed, but up to this point I have done just that... thrown away close to $150.00 in unusable bins. I was told a credit would not be given on the needless money spent even though we were given misinformation AND they're the ones that destroyed.
I would just like to give them an opportunity to make things right before I consider changing companies.Business Response

I am writing in regards to Ms. ******** complaint. In 2020, when Ms ****** signed up for service, we didn't provide recycling containers due to the type of truck that was servicing her area. September of 2022 we did a re-route and switched the type of truck we used on that route. Now that an automated truck is on that route, the arm of the truck is dumping both trash and recycling containers. I am sure our driver didn't purposely dump her container in the truck, he was probably not aware the can the fell in, it must have slipped through the fingers of the arm. We delivered a recycling can to Ms. ******. We are not able to credit the account $150, we can however issue a one month credit on the account. On July 29, 2022 the garbage truck accidentally dumped my garbage can into the truck. The following day, I reached out and they said they were sending a new one. I did not receive a trash can for 2 weeks. The can I received was smaller than what I was paying for. This led to 3 months of phone calls (at least 6-7 calls) trying to get the right size can dropped off at my house. A supervisor is "never available" and I have been told every time that my garbage can will be dropped off "tomorrow". After 3 months (a full billing cycle) of not receiving the correct garbage can, I received a bill for the larger can. Obviously, I am not going to pay for something that I did not have for my use. Thus, a supervisor isn't available (per usual) and they are the only ones that can alter my bill to be correct. Of course, I have canceled my service and am switching to Twin Bridges as everyone in my neighborhood has done. I will not be paying a bill for an incorrect service, especially with the amount of time I have taken during my work day just to get someone on the phone.Business Response

I am writing in response to Ms. ******* complaint. After reviewing the notes on the account, we see that our driver reported that the container fell in the truck on 7/6. We entered a ticket to deliver the container but our driver made an error and removed the additional container. We apologize for all the inconvenience this may have caused. We billed this account for October, November and December. this account was cancelled at the end of October. All charges were reversed and there is a $0 balance on this account.

we canceled our service in June of 2022 in writing and by phone... it took until October 2022 for this company to pick up their cans, after leaving them several messages.. They claimed that we hadnt canceled and are continuing to charge us, instead of refunding us for the months of service we paid ahead!
I want a refund and the amount they are continuing to bill us for, canceled. Our cans sat curbside for over 4 months, and our Home owners association was about to fine us for the fact that our cans were by the road...Business Response

I inquired about trash service from County Waste but never initiated service. As of September 26th I received a final notice about owing them over $400 for trash pickup. They have never picked up trash or dropped off the trash cans because I never signed the contact to initiate service. I have called them several times and have been told several times that the account has been closed and a credit was issued on my account. However now they are telling me that they are going to turn my bill over to a 3rd party collection service and report my delinquent account against my credit. I do not know what to do. I have been on the phone with them, emailed with them and again have been told that the matter was resolved.Business Response

County Waste claims there was a misunderstanding on my part which is not correct. After being told multiple times a credit for the amount owed would be put on my account and the account closed the matter was still not fixed in their records. They continued to call me and send letters telling me the bill would be going to collections even when I was assured the matter was resolved.

On 10/4/22 my wife and I purchased this home at ** ****** **. ********** *** *****.
It’s been over 2 weeks since the former owner and me (current owner) has asked County Waste to REMOVE the 2 trash/recycling containers from my property. I do not want there service and therefore need these 2 large 90 gallon containers removed from my property. I have another trash company that I’m using. I now have 4 barrels on my property, it’s an eyesore to say the least. Kids already tipped one barrel over in the road over the weekend and people walking their dogs are disposing the dog waste in
there too. I have been removing that so the barrels would be empty when removed from my property. I’ve emailed and called County Waste several times to remove the barrels, all I get is a person stating that County Waste of Clifton Park is a bit delayed in removing and delivering barrels. This is no way to conduct a business, I want these 2 barrels removed immediately, my neighbors aren’t happy about them in the road either. Now, I’m sorry if County Waste has a employee problem or truck problem or customer service problem, I don’t care. I’ve ask nicely several times to remove the 2 barre that don belong me. Please help

I have been with *** ******* for several years and County Waste purchased the account. There has been many issues over the past couple years where they haven't picked up garbage and have given no notice or make up day. I pay for weekly pick up and they have not picked up in about a month this time, yet they still sent a bill. I wrote back stating I don't owe them since they didn't pick up and I want my account canceled and their cans removed from the property. They have a reputation for reporting non payment to debt collections and this will be inappropriate if they do as they have not done anything to earn their pay. I have tried to call and they don't answer. My wife has emailed them and asked them to cancel and they refuse because the account is not in her name. Please tell them to cancel the account and the current bill and take their cans. Thank you. I don't do email and my wife is doing this complaint for me.Business Response

I cancelled my service with County Waste back in July by mail. Since then, I have emailed their service representative several times about picking up the old bins with no results. This started on August 12 and the last time was September 1 with no positive results. After 9/1/ 2022 I have not heard from anyone, and the bins are still at the end of my driveway where they have been for over a month.Business Response

I canceled my trash removal service with County Waste effective 7/31/2022 both by written notice as well as contacting them by telephone. They assured me they would refund me within 2 weeks and my trash cans would be removed in 7-10 days. I have made several phone calls and keep getting told different things. It is now August 22, 2022 and nothing has happened i would like the cans removed and my money refunded $62.93.Business Response
