I got with *******/dnf associates in order to be able to get laser hair removal. The charge all together was about 1600 or something in that area for laser treatments how many leads up to have the effect that gives me no hair for a year or so. I went to get my first treatment I was excited I drove 45 minutes and when I got there they were so rude and uncomfortable and made me feel so awkward and embarrassed they were laughing at me and all , mind you this service is on my private area. When I got home I called to speak with their corporate to see if we could resolve this issue and they did not get back to me . I then called *******/dnf associates and let them know that I was uncomfortable with the service and did not want to proceed. I let them know that I wanted to cancel the policy and they assured me that they would. So I’m just thinking that everything is good and the whole time they are charging me and putting interest , so I get a bill and call them back. I told them that they assured me that they had canceled the plan and they told me that they didn’t and that I should file a dispute and the dispute would take up to 6 months. I waited the whole 6 months for them to tell me that my dispute has been denied. By then they had put it on my credit report and keep changing the amounts and not has changed from ******* to dnf associates. I have filed a dispute with trans union and they have came back and verified as accurate which I’m not sure what their verification process consists of because these people are right out scamming me I never got the services and they just kept charging me as if I did, and to have me under the impression that you had canceled the accounts . This has effected my credit score very much and I just find it crazy how people can just throw something on your credit like that under false pretenses.

Please find the attached response.Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms. ****** complaint and hopefully clarify our position.  We understand that these situations can be aggravating and confusing for most consumers.  Especially in instances like this where somebody is disputing the quality of service or product they received.  To clarify for Ms. ****, DNF Associates are a passive debt buyer that puchases charged off receivables and outsources them to collection agencies and/or Attorneys to recover past due amounts.  We do not have the ability to perform collection services or accept payments therefore we do not attempt contact with consumers.  In January 2023, we purchased the account in question from *** **** ** ********, ******* ****** ***** This is important for Ms. **** to understand because ***** ***** was not involved in the transaction.  They mererly received the funds from *** **** ** ********, ******* ****** ****** ***** Just like if Ms. **** went into a restaurant and used her credit card for a bad meal.  That is an issue with the restaurant, not the credit card.  The restaurant would have to provide a refund for the meal, not the credit card company that provided the funds in good faith. Ms. **** secured a line of credit through *** **** ** ********* ******* ****** ****** **** for services to be performed by ***** *****.  ***** ***** performed those services and *** **** ** ******** paid ***** ***** on Ms. ****** behalf.  If Ms. **** has an issue with the services performed, that is between her and ***** ***** and that is who she should be contacting.  We have attached copies of the statements.   With that said, we suggest Ms. **** continue to dispute this matter directly through ***** ***** but in the interim, she should contact our organization to make payment arrangements to resolve the outstanding balance.  If Ms. **** would like to contact us regarding this matter, she may do so at ************* Thank you for the opportunity to respond and hopefully resolve this complaint. Sincerely, David J. Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Hello, to clarify what your say it’s not a bad meal your talking about it’s something personal and a procedure dealing with my private parts and I do not have to make myself do that. You guys can not just put almost 2500 dollars on someone’s credit report for a service they didn’t even receive . There are multiple sessions required for the result to work ranging from about 8 -12. Also immediately after i got home I called I deal image and let them know that I did not want to continue service and when they did not get back to me about a week later I called ******* and let them know that I did not want to continue this in which they agreed to cancel the service. A few months later I get a bill from ******* for 252$ and I see it on my credit score as well so I call them and let them know that I was informed they had Ended the account. They then told me that I had to file a dispute and that would take up to 6 months. I filed the dispute and waited the 6 months and they got back to me saying that they did not approve it, by then they bumped my total up to 2,376$. As a company that’s dealing with peoples sensitive information and things that can cause real damage you are suppose to do your research about the company that you are buying from and make sure that they are legit. This account is fraudulent and you should have done research to trust in what your doing to peoples credit scores/ lives.

Please find the attached response.Thank you for the opportunity to once again respond and hopefully clarify this account for Ms. ****.  First, we are not trying to make light of Ms. ****'s experience.  We are using the visit to the restaurant example as a simple comparison so she could understand our position and that of the **** ** ********.  Possibly a better example would be if Ms. **** took a line of credit from her bank to have a new roof put on her house, and the contractor that installed the roof did a substandard job.  Her complaint would not be with the bank that loaned her the money, it would be with the contractor that poorly installed the roof. Ms. **** signed an agreement and would still be responsible to the bank in this example because she took the loan much like she secured a line of credit through the **** ** ******** / ******* for her procedure through ***** ******  In the example of the roof, the contractor must either fix the roof or she could pursue the contractor legally.  In this instance, she would have to contact Ideal Image directly because they provided the service in question.  To also clarify, the account was not opened fraudulently,. it was opened by Ms. **** as she admitted.  Any sipute made to The **** ** ******** most likely would have been investigated and when they found that she authorized the service, the dispute would be resolved since they are investigating a dispute of extension of credit or payment.  They are not investigating the provided services.  A dispute of service would have to go through ***** ****** which Ms. **** can still do. As for the account though, pending any notice or update from the **** ** ******** / ******* the original creditor, the account will remain on Ms. ****'s ***** ***** report. We apologize that this may not be the response Ms. **** is looking for, but Ms. **** is complaining about the wrong entity with regards to a dispute of service. If I can be of any further assistance to the BBB regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me directly.    Sincerely, David J M***** Chief Compliance Officer

I noticed a negative report added to my credit bureau. I never received calls or mail and nobody validated this Debt. I don’t know this company DNF? Nobody attempted to call me for any debt or mail me letters for this debt? How is it that this is reported to the credit report without any communication? No letters, no mail, no calls? There were no calls or mail sent to me by any companies so why would they go ahead and add it. This is a violation of the fair credit act and a violation of my rights. I would like this removed from my credit report since it is a violation of the fair credit act. I did not receive and call or any mail to validate any debt. There were no communications received from either company. Please remove this from my credit bureau at once. I will be reporting this to CFPB too.

Please find the attached response. Thank you for the opportunity to address Ms. ******* complaint.  In addition to filing a complaint with the BBB, Ms. ****** also submitted a complaint to the CFPB which we have attached for your review.  In November 2022 our company outsource the account to a third-party collection agency and on November 5, 2022, they sent their initial notice to Ms. ****** last known address.  On April 3, 2023 our organization furnished a tradeline regarding this account to Ms. ****** ***** ***** report. To summarize the attachement provide to the CFPB: The account in question was opened at Ms. ****** address during the period that she lived there.  The account used her name. address, social security number, and birthdate.   There were multiple payments made on the account which is not consistent with fraud.   There were small day common /everyday purchases which is also not consistent with fraud. The majority of purchases occurred less than two miles from the Ms. ****** address. Even though statements were sent to the address where Ms. ****** lived, no disputes or fraud claims were made with the original creditor.   Based on the evidence provided by the original creditor, we believe the account to be validated and we must deny Ms. ****** request for tradeline removal.   Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this matter.  If we can be of any further assistance to the Better Business Bureau, please feel free to contact us ************* Sincerely,  Mark J M*****  Chief Compliance Officer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. I would like to request that dnf associates please validate this amount in a correct statement format and also include payment options. I tried calling the number ********** numerous times and it does not accept my social security number (when typing my ssn the bot states I do not exist in the system) and when I dial 2 it goes to a voicemail box that is full. I do not live at the *** **** ****** address for many years and they claim they sent mail to this address but **** does forward my mail to my new address and to date I did not receive any calls or any mail to validate the amount yet they added it to my credit bureau??? The creditor did not send me any mail in the past too. I sent a payment to the original creditor and assumed it had been paid due to no correspondence or calls received. Please can this company email me the correct details with a proper breakdown of the costs incurred and payment details. I would like to get this removed from my credit report. Please contact me or update me with a phone number that works. I have been calling the number for four days. Please send me contract with my signature too. Please can dnf associates email me? Thank you.

I am writing to dispute the accuracy of the collections account on my credit report related to ID number ******, reported by DNF Associates which was reported on March 17, 2023. The account was settled in full for $1,800.00 on December 28, 2022, and the payment release form was sent to me on January 18, 2023 due to which this should no longer be reported on my credit report.

I have attached a settlement agreement from ********* ******** ****** **** that states that upon clearance of funds for all payments listed above, my account would be paid and satisfied, and I would hold no further financial obligation towards this debt. Additionally, I have included a letter from ********* ******** ****** **** dated January 18, 2023, which confirms that the account has been paid and released in full. Despite the settlement agreement and payment in full, a new collections account has been added for the remaining balance of $1,647.00. This inaccuracy is causing significant harm to my credit score and financial well-being. I request that you remove the new collections account from my credit report as soon as possible.

DNF Associates has received the above mentioned complaint, which has been forwarded for investigation and response.   To clarify for Mr. ******, DNF Associates are a passive debt buyer that purchases charged off receivables and outsources them to collection agencies and/or attorneys to recover past due amounts.  We do not have the ability to perform collection services or accept payments therefore we do not attempt to contact consumers. Upon receipt of the complaint, our organization contacted the collection vendor who was servicing the account and had them close and return the account in a "Cease" status.  We also requested all information regarding their service of their account, including their collection notes and any corresponding call recordings, in order to substantiate Mr. ******s claim.  According to the vendor's collection notes and call records, our vendor was unable to establish contact with Mr. ******.   The account in question was purchased from **** in October 2022.  According to the records provided by **** the account was opened in July 2019 under Mr. ******s name, social security number and the address provided in the recent complaint.  The last payment on the account was $102.00 made on January 15th, 2021, and the charge off date was Septmember 2021.  On April 3, 2023 a tradeline regarding this account was placed on Mr. ******s transunion report by DNF Associates.   On Feb. 6th an initial notice was generated by our vendor in the required Reg F format.  That letter was batch mailed by a third party letter service on Feb 10, 2023.  A copy of that initial notice is attached. In addition, we have attached a copy of the purchase agreement with **** substantiating our ownership of the account,  the statements mailed to Mr. ****** showing the last payment and the statement of charge off.   Based on the information provided by ****, we feel there is sufficient information to validate the account in question and must deny his request that we remove the tradeline from his credit report.  Since the account is within the New York State Statue of Limitations, we have forwarded the account to our counsel for legal review which is within our rights as the current creditor.   Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Mr. ******.  If we can be of any further assistance to the Better Business Bureau, please feel free to contact us at *************

Dear ******* Complaint Handler,  I am replying to the complaint that I filed
with you on 4/5/2023 regarding DNF Associates, and some of the attempts that I have made to dispute this debt
that does not belong, as well as some of the actions of DNF Associates. I have
included a few documents to support these attempts. First, is direct communication to DNF disputing this debt. DNF
submitted a blank copy of their letter sent to me, but failed to include the
official letter, and what was returned to them, by me, disputing this debt (see
top right corner of document for DNF filing codes).   DNF Associates claims that a
“Cease” status was put on my account, however, after receiving my letter, I
continued to receive phone calls regarding the debt. Also, **** delivery
confirmation return receipt indicates that my letter was received by DNF on the
week of 2/22/2023, however, during and after this “Cease” status, DNF still reported
my debt to ********** for the first time on 3/17/2023. The remarks “Placed for
collection” (see report and reporting date). They have reported a debt without
informing me. These acts are in violation of Federal debt collection law,
and I have contacted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau regarding this
matter.  After receiving an alert from
********** regarding the new collections on my account, I immediately disputed
the debt. **** delivery confirmation indicated that my dispute letter was
received on the week of 4/4/2023 (see dispute letter and correspondence with
**********)  Finally, DNF has referred to
having records submitted by ****, with my social security yet they fail to
produce such documentation. No SSN, original contract, or signatures. I have collected
other documentation, but will hold and seeking legal consultation regarding
this issue. I want to thank you for your time, hard work, and attention to this
    matter.  Sincerely,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This does not change the fact that I know this debt does NOT belong to me, and that I have never opened an account with ****. It also does NOT change the fact that, after refuting and disputing this debt, DNF still continued to contact me and sent debt to collections during this "cease" period. They simply said their systems didn't work. This will be my last e-mail regarding this matter. I will look for assistance in other places, for I am unhappy with the results process. Thank again.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide this additional information to Mr. ****** in the hopes of resolving this matter.  To once again clarify, our organization never contacted Mr. ******. We are not a collection agency and do not have the ability or the infrastructure to perform collections or accept payments. As the BBB already knows, DNF Associates are a passive debt buyer who outsources accounts to collection agencies.  We never received a "Cease" notice from Mr. ****** nor did ******* ********** ********, our servicing collection agency.  Attached is the notice that was sent to Mr. ****** when collections took place. This notice contains the account information we were provided by the original creditor when we purchased the account.  According to the public records, Mr. ****** resided at that address during the account period. The email address provided in the BBB complaint is the same as the email address provided on the account, meaning invoices and notices were sent to that email.  Finally we have no record of Mr. ****** disputing this account when the account was with the original creditor.  If Mr. ****** has any evidence that he is not the responsible party, we suggest he provides it. If he believes an individual at the account address stole his identity, we suggest he files a police report against that individual for fraud and send it to our attention.  DNF  ASSOCIATES  **** ** ****** ***** ***** **** ********** ** ****** *** ************* Mr. ****** can feel free to send this information through the Better Business Bureau if he does not want to contact us directly.  Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Mr. ******. Business Response

    Date: 04/20/2023

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms. ********* complaint. According to our records we responded to a similar complaint made by the consumer through the **** File Number ******- ********. Because of that complaint, the account was placed in a cease status pending our investigation and response.  First, we respectfully suggest Ms. ******* obtain a copy of the Fair Credit Reporting Act through the Federal Trade Commission's website. The referenced section "S 609. Disclosures to consumers [15 U.S.C. § 1681g], (a) (1) (A) has to do with the truncation of the reported consumer's social security number.  The FCRA contains no requirements regarding a signed consumer contract. Such an instrument is not necessary to place information on a consumer's credit bureau report nor is it necessary to establish verification of the debt under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).  We refer Ms. ******* to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Statements of General Policy or Interpretation Staff Commentary on the FDCPA, 53 Fed. Reg. 50097, 50108-09 (Dec. 13, 1988).  The FTC has stated § 809(b) Validation of Debts is "... intended to assist the consumer when a debt collector inadvertently contacts the wrong consumer at the start of his collection efforts." Verification is only intended to "eliminate the ... problem of debt collectors dunning the wrong person or attempting to collect debts which the consumer has already paid.”  Based on the opinion of the FTC, a signed agreement is not necessary to validate the existence of a debt. This is even more evident today with a large volume of accounts now being opened through the internet which does not require a physically signed agreement.  As we stated to the ****, the account in question was purchased from the original creditor on November 21, 2022 in a portfolio of accounts from *** **** ** *********  DNF   ASSOCIATES **** ** ****** ***** ***** **** ********** ** ****** *** ************* In December 2022 the account was outsourced to ******* ********** ********, a licensed collection agency in the State of Florida. They sent an initial notice to Ms. ********* email. A  copy of that notice as well as the information provided to the **** is attached.  The account in question was opened in Ms. ********* name, with her social security number, at the same address and email address she provided to the ****. Statements were sent to that address and no dispute or fraud claim was made by the consumer prior to charge off.  The account was utilized for purchases from Wayfair throughout February 2022 and payments were received via debit card in February 2022 and March 2022. We have requested the debit card transaction information from the original creditor. In June 2022, an online payment was received in the amount of $100.00 and on October 14, 2022, the account was charged off with a balance of $2460.28 including associated interest and fees. DNF Associates LLC has not added any interest or fees.  With that said, the account is within the statute of limitations in the State of Florida, and we are well within our rights as the current creditor to place a tradeline on Ms. ********* credit report and have the account reviewed for litigation. The account is no longer placed with a collection agency and is pending review.  If Ms. ******* would like to contact us regarding this matter she may do so at ***** *********  Thank you for the opportunity to respond and hopefully resolve this complaint.

I received a call from a man who did not give me his name and the beginning of the message was cut off in my voicemail. The man explained that he was hired to deliver some papers to me since I have not responded to any of the mail the company had sent me. I have no idea of what company the man was calling from. He left me a message to call a ************** number regarding the delivery of the papers and explained that he would be there tomorrow between 12pm and 3 pm. He said I needed to have two forms of identification and a witness when he delivers the papers. He mentioned that if I was not there tomorrow he would be making unannounced visits to my address and would put that it was a missed appearance if he had the wrong address. This person did not leave a name with his voice mail. I called the number that he left on my voicemail. I reached a lady who said she was from a particular company, from my understanding as there was a lot of background noise. She told me that the company that was trying to get the debt paid from a jeweler. The account was closed out and it was back in like 2014. She explained to me that the company trying to get me to pay was DNF Associates. As my debt went from **** **** ******* to DNF Associate Creditors. She explained that they she was trying to get payment on this old debt and said that she might get them to allow me to pay 30% of the total supposedly owed of $1,377.59 which would make my payment at $425.22 . That total would pay the 25% of $413.22 and there would be additional fees applied as well making the total balance $425.22. She explained that the company was trying to get me for Malicious Intent, court costs, and attorney fees.

DNF Associates has received the above referenced complaint, which has been forwarded for investigation and response.  To clarify for Ms. *****, DNF Associates are a passive debt buyer that purchases charged off receivables and outsources them to collection agencies and/or Attorneys to recover past due amounts. We do not have the ability to perform collection services or accept payments. Upon receipt of the complaint, our organization contacted the collection vendor in question and had them close and return the account. We have also requested all information regarding their service of the account, including their collection notes and call recordings, in order to substantiate Ms. *****'s claim. Even though we have yet to receive the vendor's information, based on the serious nature of Ms. *****'s complaint, we feel it would best serve all parties involved to close the account, so Ms. ***** receives no further contact. We wish to apologize for any inconvenience Ms. ***** was caused by our collection vendor and would like to assure her that the account has been placed in an isolated cease status so she will receive no further contact from our any of our vendors regarding this matter. Also, since the account is past the statute of limitations it does not appear on her credit report, and it cannot be litigated. Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms. *****. If we can be of any further assistance to Ms. ***** or the Better Business Bureau, please feel free to contact us ************.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint as the document sent does not answer why I am being sued after paying the total amount as shown and why I was not contacted if there was any issues after payment was done, or why was not given the contact information with the new case against me, if none of these are answered this is just blatant harassment .  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Community bank sold my account to a collection agency while I was making monthly payments. They stopped me from making any more payments by blocking me from accessing the payment site, and now they won't even send me my balance of what I owe. I'm left with whatever the collection agency says I owe because I don't have my information. Different collectors have contacted me, and now I'm being sued by one of these collectors because of this bank. I can prove I was making payments. How can they get away with what they are doing? Please help.

Hello, my case number is #18060694 The collection agency Suing me is DNF Associates 2341 North Forest Rd Getzville, NY 14068. When I looked up the address it's for Collection Associates 225 S Executive Dr Brookfield, Wi 53005 (262) 641-2500. Their attorney is Cynthia A Duppler (262) 641-3715 225 S Executive Dr Suite 201 Brookfield, Wi 53005. Their attorney has the same address as their collection agency. It doesn't make sense to me.

DNF Associates has received the above referenced complaint, which has been forwarded for investigation and response.
To clarify for Ms. *******, DNF Associates are a passive debt buyer that outsources receivables to collection agencies and/or Attorneys to recover past due amounts. We do not have the ability to perform collection services or accept payments.
According to our records, we purchased Ms. *******'s account from the original creditor, ******** ****; in September of 2020.
According to the records provided by ******** ****, Ms. *******'s last payment was applied on 5/5/2020 in the amount of $30.80. Please refer to the attached statements. Since no further payments were received, the account was charged of on August 31, 2020.
On September 10, 2020, notification was sent to Ms. ******* that the account was sold to DNF Associates. That notice is also attached and was sent to her home address.
During its tenure with our organization, the account was placed four separate collection agencies prior to its most recent placement.
Since those agencies were unable to establish contact and/or secure payment, in June 2022 the account was placed with *********** Law Firm for collection and legal review.
We apologize to Ms. ******* for any inconvenience she feels she was caused. We understand these situations can be confusing and stressful. We suggest Ms. ******* or her counsel contact *********** Law Firm at ************ in order to amicably resolve this matter.
I trust this letter satisfies the request and expectations of our company, but I remain available to your office should you require any further information or assistance.
    Sincerely,

    David J. M*****
