Between September 2024 and July 2025, I paid National Debt Relief (NDR) a total of $2,750 through their payment processor for a debt settlement program. They advised me to stop making payments to my creditors, which caused my credit to drop and allowed my balances to grow from late fees and interest.Only $496.14 of the $2,750 was actually paid to my creditors. The remaining amount was taken in various fees: $1,813.73 in settlement fees, $217.16 in legal fees, $108.35 in service fees, and $9.00 for account setup.I canceled my enrollment after realizing the program was not working in my best interest and most of my money had gone to fees rather than settling my debt. Since canceling, I have not received a refund, or any communication.Ive asked for a refund, but they have not responded.Business Response

I started with National debt relief on 1/24/24, I was told that my debts should be settled for 50% of my debt and that I could be charged a fee of 10-25% but that fee would be included in the settlement amount for each account. My total debts were $8283, and I was told all in the most I would pay would be $6200 ish. At this point I have paid in a total of $7103. And still have my largest debt remaining for $2541.43 in which they just offered a settlement of $1270.71 as well as a fee of $498. Which would have put me at $8871 ($588 more than when I started) I called to express my concerns that I had already paid more then I was told and was pretty much told oh well. They are deceptive because they tell you that they are settling for roughly half but then what they dont tell you is that your debt will become much larger by the time they actually settle it from fees and fines because they never reached out to the debt companies right away. They also do not show you when you agree to a settlement that their fee is in fact not included in the settlement and will be additional on top and you dont see that amount or that it is always conveniently 25% until after youve agreed to the settlement. They tell you they settle based on the original debt amount but oddly enough the settlement is usually for 50% of the most recent debt amount, I was paying $125 twice a month and was told that if I paid extra then they could get all of my debts settled quicker, so I sent an extra $1000 but when I mentioned that upon my most recent phone call they told me that I will still have to pay my monthly payment until my final payment date regardless, forcing me to overpay. They are very deceptive and lie to you as much as they can to get you to sign up, I was deceived about their fees and have since stopped working with them, I would like my fees refunded, in the amount of $1572, as they have already ruined my credit and I now had to settle my last two accounts on my own.Business Response

Subject: Formal Complaint Against National Debt Relief False ************************** Credit Report Access To Whom It May Concern,I am writing to file a formal complaint against National Debt Relief for engaging in deceptive business practices, including false advertising and unauthorized access to my credit report.1. False Advertising National Debt Relief made claims in its advertising that led me to believe I would be eligible for specific debt relief services under clearly outlined terms. These representations were misleading and inaccurate. After providing my personal information and engaging with their representatives, I discovered that the advertised services were either not available to me or came with conditions and costs that were never disclosed upfront. This practice is deceptive and violates consumer protection laws governing truth in advertising.2. Unauthorized Use of Credit Report Without my clear and informed consent, National Debt Relief accessed my credit report. At no point was I informed that a hard or soft inquiry would be performed, and I did not authorize this action in writing or verbally. This is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which requires explicit consent before accessing a consumers credit report. This unauthorized inquiry may have affected my credit score and constitutes a serious breach of privacy and federal law.?I am requesting the following:A formal investigation into National Debt Reliefs advertising practices and credit reporting procedures.Removal of any unauthorized credit inquiries from my credit report.Penalties or corrective actions as applicable under law.A written response acknowledging receipt of this complaint and details on next steps. Please advise me on any additional documentation needed to support this complaint. I am prepared to cooperate fully with any investigation into these practices.Business Response

On the 20th' of May 2025, I, ****** ***** of **** ******************** *** ***** received a second unwanted, unsolicited email from National Debt Relief. When I received the first unwanted, unsolicited email, I responded back to them, that I did not want there services. Basically, I told them to **** ***. I then unsubscribed from there emails, and marked the email as spam. Apparently, that didn't work. I don't know when I received the first email, I just did a purge of old emails before I got this second email. The following are the reasons I am filing this complaint.~ Predatory sales practices _ such as aggressive sales practices: Sent more emails after I told them not to.~ Identity theft _ when someone steals your personal information and uses it without your permission: I never gave my email to them, they stole it by buying it off somebody else who stole it.~ Computer trespass _ knowingly uses, causes to be used, or accesses a computer, computer service, or computer network without authorization: Sending an email to me, knowingly causes accesses to my computer and my network with out my authorized consent!~ Damage to or theft of personal property _ during the provision of sending the email, the business, its employee damaged personal property, and or stole personal property: In sending these unwanted, and unsolicited emails, National Debt Relief, could damage my computer, my network router, and modem, and could steal my personal information.Business Response
