Been a very loyal AMX for over 8 yrs. Last year spent over 78K last year paid in full every month. After being on hold for 7 mins the lady said sorry won't do anything for the fee.But hey spend 4K more and we will give you bonus point big deal.Going back to Capitol one more points much better service. And a card with features that a business person would actually use. Not some weird site or things most people don't want.Better Cards with better features and 1/3 of fees of there platinum card. Long story they didn't care I was leaving. 10K average monthly use isn't good enough with them. No problem.

DO NOT buy American Express Gift Cards. As you can see from all the reviews on Consumer Affairs website (wish I had discovered it before purchasing my Amex e-gift card)....it is the biggest money making scam online! They made $150 from my un-usable, un-refundable gift card!! Amex Gift cards assign no name to their giftcards....so it is immediately declined every where you try to use it. The fact that American Express allows third party to use their name/logo and sell Amex gift cards to rip people off....places them at the top of list...for the most corrupt business bar none. #BoycottAmericanExpress!!

So disappointed in American Express! I have had my card for over 15 years and have never missed a payment. All of a sudden, last year they almost doubled my interest rate and made it impossible to pay it down. Then, a couple of months ago, I started receiving threatening emails saying that if I did not pay a huge amount, which was four or five times the normal monthly payment, they would decrease my credit limit, which would make me exceed my limit and would damage my credit. I called today to see if they might be willing to reduce a little of the interest if I paid it in full. I was willing to pay almost the entire balance minus a few hundred, which was the amount of the interest difference over the past 12 months. I was quickly told I could pay the entire amount, period. There was no offering to settle for a little less, no offer to decrease the interest rate a bit, nothing. I told them I was planning to pay it off today if they would take a little less and keep it open for future use, but I was thinking that might not happen now, and she said ok. Wow! I will definitely make it my mission to relay this to all of my business associates and friends so they do not end up in the same boat as me. We owned a construction company for 50 years and had Gold Cards. Guess being a loyal customer means nothing. There are plenty of other cards to use. I will find one of them. I hope no one else has this experience.

This communication pertains to my booking with American Express Travel for July ****, a journey from ******* to *********. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I was compelled to cancel this flight. Thankfully, I had procured travel insurance through Travel Guard. The financial commitment for this reservation amounted to $5,150, a sum accrued using my Amex points over a span exceeding five years. Subsequent to the cancellation, I received notification from American Express indicating that my account had been credited for the cancelled reservation. However, my attempts to engage with their customer service in December 2023, January ****, and February **** have been met with inconsistent and perplexing responses. Initially, I was informed that no credit was available, only to be subsequently advised by another representative that a full credit was indeed accessible, with a booking deadline of February 25th. Upon contacting them on the aforementioned date, I was once again told that no credit exists. This series of communications has left me profoundly disconcerted regarding the practices of American Express, particularly its travel division. The most recent interaction concluded with the opening of a case, the resolution of which I am told to expect within an eight-week timeframe. This experience has led me to question the extent to which American Express values our longstanding relationship.

AmEx has been great until it was us vs. a much bigger customer named Budget. First Budget tried to charge us to fill a rental car with gas that was filled 2 miles away and rescinded the charge after we sent receipt. 3 weeks later they claimed a charge of $86 for roadside assistance which we never had. After 2 disputes with both Budget and **** the claimed charge was revealed to be a slow leak... AmEx sided with Budget to allow the charge and we were cheated out of $86. Beware of Budget and don't expect AmEx to be there for you! We've never had trouble with Enterprise...

If you are thinking of getting an AmEx card, DONT! They are the absolute worst! Their customer service is either non existent or complete incompetence! They do NOTHING correct! When people would ask me if i thought they were a good CC to have i use to answer that question by saying i cannot give an accurate answer unless i run into an issue and see how they handle the issue. i ran into issue with a company in china sending counterfeit items. The morons at amex closed the disputes because i had no way to prove that the ***** company said that they were NOT going to send fake items. i couldnt believe what i was reading! So if you take your car in for repair and they put the tires on backwards and they never told you the tires would be put on the correct way, the morons at amex will take the side of the garage, since you wouldnt have proof of the obvious.. i have never been so happy to pay this card off and close this credit card before! I will NEVER open an account with this incompetent company in the future. i use to wonder why so many merchants dont allow the use of amex...this may be why! I dont think one person at amex knows what they are doing, NOT ONE!!!!!!!

I was approved for the gold business card. I had moved, so I called the company to let them know about my change of address. 2-3 weeks passed with no credit card in the mail, so I called again, and the operator said they hadn't changed my address. I asked if this would impact my timeline (3 months) to spend $10,000 to qualify for the ******* miles. She said "yes it would" and I had 2 months to meet the spending requirement. I spoke to her supervisor and she said the card agreement stated that ****, at its discretion can shorten the time to meet spending requirements. This is incredibly shocking because **** did not mail my card to the correct address and they will not give me the extra month I lost waiting for the card to come.

Amex increased my limit automatically to $31,200. I called and asked them to reduce my limit to $30,000 to help me keep track of my spending. They could not reduce my limit because of system issues at the time. They asked me to payoff my outstanding balance and then they will try again. I paid off my balance and called them back but they reduced my limit to $1,200 (instead of reducing it by $1,200 to $30,000) by mistake and they refuse to ***************** back to its original limit. They said that they can only increase the limit to $3,600. My credit limit reduction has a negative impact on my credit score. They suggested that I submit a credit limit increase request in 90 days which will result in a hard inquiry and further harm my credit score. I am left with no good options and they are not going to fix the problem.
