date of service 12/19/2023. I have ******** and Humana as supplement. Humana paid Schweiger on 1/9/24 $112.79 At this time I was "0" patient responsibility. They hounded me relentlessly on my phone so I paid $79.79 on 5/9/24. My wife found out they were overpaid (paid twice) and has not been able to get our money refunded. We have submitted EOB's. countless phone calls to no avail.

Schweiger refused to send removed mole to Quest for analysis despite my request. Instead, they sent it to Dr. I never heard of in ************. That Dr. put the claim Through primary insurance but not secondary insurance even though Schweiger had been given both cards. Schweiger has been balance billing me ever since on the claim for this pathologist. It is impossible to reach anyone at Schweiger. They are utterly unhelpful. I have spent hours of my time trying to get this resolved. They hide from contact behind technology. I do not owe this money .

**Dates of Service:** - April 20, 2024 - Price: $275 - May 31, 2024 - Price: $270 **Service:** Spot removal On April 20, 2024, I received a spot removal treatment for $275. When the treatment failed to produce results, I returned on May 31, 2024, for a follow-up treatment, which cost an additional $270. During this visit, photos were taken by the staff, and notes were recorded.Despite several phone calls attempting to resolve this issue, the only response I received from **************** was to come back in, which is unrealistic since we tried this before, and it cost me additional money without success. I am seeking a refund for the treatments that did not produce any results.Thank you. **************

I visited Schweiger Dermatology Group located in ********* site on March 16, 2024. Before I visited there, I called them and confirmed that I need to pay $200 in cash if not going through my insurance. My insurance is for Iowa state and may not work in **********. After the visit, I chose to pay by cash and immediately paid the requested amount $200 in total. However, recently, the clinic charged the bill again through my insurance company and kept mailing me the bill. This is not reasonable because I have already paid my bill in cash and they should not charge the bill twice. I called the clinic but no one helped me to resolve the issue. Therefore, I requested them to correct it and stop mailing me the bill.

Was paying out of pocket for dermatology issues for my daughter and having laser treatments which lasted 4 years. A deposit of $125.00 had been on file with them through the course of treatment as they had wanted. Money was never used for any service. it was just placed in hold throught the office. After every treatment I followed instructions from provider as how long to wait for next treatment. After four years and waiting to hear the next treatment date, provider never got back to me and I had decided treatment was not even working anymore. I requested my money back through their office that had been on hold as requested. I requested my money back. To which they said they would give me back into my checking account . They needed my routing number and I gave it to them. Then they called me and told me that needed my routing number which I had already gave them . Gave them again they told me I should see the money back in my account in few days its been two weeks. I called them back and they told me they sent me a check in April. Which is not the case. They keep telling me different stories. This has been going on for over three months . I have waited patiently and reached out to them several times to resolve this and they just keep giving me the run around

Since October 2023 I have been receiving invoices from Schweiger Dermatology for a virtual visit by telephone in February of 2021. According to UHC a claim was never filed despite the fact that the doctor was in network at the time of service. UHC told me that if Schweiger Dermatology does not file a claim by February 2, **** they will not be *********** payment because it will have been more than three years. I have provided Schweiger Dermatology with the insurance card and a letter of active coverage from UHC for the policy that was in effect at the time of service. I have spoken with Schweiger by phone, sent them multiple emails, sent them a letter via ***** and communicated with them via online chat. Despite all of that they continue to harass me with invoices and requests for a letter of active coverage.

On Jan 30, 2023, I saw medical staff at Schweiger for screening and skin tag removal. At the time of services, they stated I would be charged $250 in total for both. In April, I received a statement of account of services that also indicated only a $250 fee, and that my insurance covered all but $5. I paid my patient responsibility portion in May, and my insurance paid the rest. I assumed this was the end.Suddenly in October, I received a bill from Schweiger for an additional $225. I called to inquire why, and the phone rep stated that she needed to file an investigation request and that it was likely an error. On Nov 9, I received an email from Schweiger saying that they were keeping the charge because insurance does not cover cosmetic dermatology. Even though their staff stated at the time of service that I'd be charged only $250 (which has been paid), and that their own account of services for me issued in April only included the $250. Now, 10 months later, they are adding a random charge of $225. Additionally, when reviewing their website, they list skin tag removal as a medical dermatology procedure -- they have a whole other list of cosmetic dermatology on which they do not include skin tag removal.Based on the vast amount of time that passed between services rendered and the new suspect bill, the fact that their own staff stated that I would only be charged the $250 and when I called stated the new charge was likely an error, as well as their reason for keeping the charge being about cosmetic dermatology services when the procedure I had is on their own list of medical dermatology procedures, I believe that Schweiger Dermatology is engaging in fraudulent business practices. I ask the BBB to investigate, and I seek resolution of Schweiger removing the alleged charge of $225 and admitting that I owe nothing further. Additionally, please ask them to certify that they will cease such fraudulent practices, or help me take further legal action.

      Hi *** *********,

We understand that you still have some questions about your bill. Your records indicate that you were in our office for two separate visits, each time for the same procedure, which is why you were charged a duplicate amount. As stated in our earlier response to your complaint, oftentimes bills are delayed because we process claims through the insurance first and that can take time.

We are more than happy to explain everything to you on the phone. Our office manager at this location has tried to call you several times today and has left you a voice mail. Please contact her at your earliest convenience:

      Customer Answer

      Date: 06/24/2024

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

      [Your Answer Here]

Schweiger Dermatology has now confirmed that they charged me twice for the same procedure.  However, what they've failed to mention is that my return visit was because the attending NP did not complete the first treatment.  When I called the day following my initial treatment, the office staff confirmed that because the charge for treatment was comprehensive, since the NP missed a spot, there would be no charge for the return visit.

Please issue a refund in the amount of $225 to me immediately to resolve this matter.

Regarding your statement about processing claims through insurance, my visits were in January of 2023, and you sent the duplicate bill in November of 2023.  Are you telling me it takes your staff 10 months to process claims through insurance?  That's a ridiculous amount of time.

Please issue a refund in the amount of $225 to me immediately to resolve this matter.

Regarding your office manager calling me, I called your office about a dozen times from November 2023 to January 2024, I emailed you as well, and I never heard a single response from you.  Now that there's an investigation into your fraudulent practices you want to speak with my by phone, off the record?  No.  That won't be happening.  If you have anything further to communicate, you will need to do so via this BBB service. In fact, please do not contact me directly for any reason other than to mail the refund.  I encourage you to revisit your customer service practices to avoid situations like this in the future.

Please issue a refund in the amount of $225 to me immediately to resolve this matter.

By your own account, you've admitted to fraudulently charging me for twice for the same procedure, your staff are not able to process insurance claims in less than a 10 month period, and you only return billing questions after BBB complaints are filed.

Please issue a refund in the amount of $225 to me immediately to resolve this matter.

Please issue a refund in the amount of $225 to me immediately to resolve this matter.

Please issue a refund in the amount of $225 to me immediately to resolve this matter.

Please issue a refund in the amount of $225 to me immediately to resolve this matter.

In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

      Sincerely,

I went to see a Dermatologist at Schweiger Dermatology on 06/20/2023 to get prescribed acne medication. While I was there, the doctor went through my face and we discussed options for my acne. I had a copay which I paid immediately during discharge. And that's all I should need to pay.5 months later, I received a bill stating I have $74.86 outstanding payment. I opened the statement, and Schweiger tried to charge my insurance for a ****** **** ****** and ************* **** *** *** which the insurance denied, so now they're saying I have to pay for it.The issue here is that I do not recalled getting any sort of injection during my visit. I do not like needles so if they had offered it, I would've said no. Additionally, there was no discussion of any extra charge for anything additional done during my visit. I would have thought that if they were to provide any service that wouldn't be covered, they would have note that to me. But again, there was no discussion nor did I recall getting needle stuck in my face.
