On 1/19/2023 I had a procedure at the ********* office. At that time I paid a $50 copay for which I have attached the receipt. I subsequently received a bill which, after insurance adjustments:a) does not credit the $50 copay for which I have a receipt.b) claims a payment I made to the practice on 7/25/2023 for $13.94. I made no such payment. I was not even in my home state around that date c) there is a mysterious $8.94 "adjustment" to the bill dates 08/08/2023. Apparently charity on their part.I called multiple times and they just take information and never respond other than to send me another copy of the same bill. After reviewing the charges and claims for that date of service with my insurance company, it appears that at least part of the dispute may be due to being charged two copays. This is apparently justified because I saw two doctors for what is considered two procedures on one visit. If that is the case, why didn't they collect the two copays at the office on the date of service? That should have been clearly explained. They could also have explained it to me when I questioned the bill. They haven't done that either. I'm left to conclude they are being deliberately deceptive about the two copays for one visit. They also collected a copay for $50(see receipt) when the insurance claim clearly shows it should be $45. The payment that I did not make and the mysterious adjustment further the belief that there is some kind deliberate attempt at obfuscation going on.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I figured out most of what happened between myself and my insurance company - with no useful help from Schweiger Dermatology. Part of the confusion was caused by Schweiger posting two credits to the account which never happened. I figured out that the way the claim was processed they were actually due more than they billed me for. I paid them  the actual amount they were due - a second copayment. I believe this concludes our business on this matter. In stock market parlance, Accounting irregularities = Sell. There will be no future business between us - shame, I liked their doctors and staff.

Dear BBB Team,I am seeking your assistance to resolve a disagreement with Schweiger Dermatology for a $154.16 overcharge. The reason for my request is the fee is excessive, was never disclosed to me during my visit and I did not consent to it.I have been seeking a good faith resolution with the office via numerous emails however they have been ignoring my request. Please find below a detailed timeline:- On 2/17, I visited Schweiger Flatiron for a routine check, I paid a $45 copay fee.During the visit, I mentioned a small lesion on my foot and asked the doctor for advice on how to treat it. The doctor confirmed it was a benign lesion and proceeded to apply a spray (I assume a cryogenic spray although it was not explained to me in detail)I was surprised that the doctor applied the spray for a very short period of time which made me be doubtful about its efficiency. This proved right as it had absolutely no effect on treating my lesion - On 3/21, I received a bill from Schweiger informing me of a $154.16 balance due. I contacted the office.- On 4/3, I received a standardized answer asking me to speak with my insurance carrier, deflecting my request - On 4/5, 4/17. 5/20, 6/7 and 6/20 I sent emails to the office asking to reconsider the charge - On 8/3 I paid the charge as I was afraid they would send it to collection and it would impact my credit score I am finding myself at a point where I need help to have the office acknowledge the charge is unfair and refund it to me.The points I would like to stress are:(i) Lack of transparency: I was never informed I would have to pay for the spray application (ii) Patient deceit: the doctor acted as if it was included in my visit (ii) Disporportionate charge: billing patients in excess of $150 for applying a spray (less tan 2 seconds) is outrageous and has removed any trust I have in the office practice I greatly appreciate your help in helping me get Schweiger refund the undue charge.Best regards, **********************

      Dear Better Business Bureau Team:

I have just been able to review the reply of the business to my complaint and I would like to ask for additional time to reply.

The business is arguing that they have tried to reach out to me however that is factually incorrect as I have neither received a phone call or an email from them.

I also have taken the time to detail in my claim the reason I was filing a complaint and they have not made any effort  to answer any specific point.

I wrote to the BBB to find a resolution and I wish to extend my claim until the business has recognized their responsibility and refunds me.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

      Hi ********,

Thank you very much for your message and sending me the communication from 10/23 which I had not seen.
I am rejecting the business response since they have absolutely not addressed any of the points in my complaint.  Instead, they have chosen to deflect and ask me to contact them, which I had been trying to do for months before contacting the BBB.
I am no longer looking to speak directly to the business and I am simply seeking reimbursement so this matter can be closed.
My complaint remains based on the fact that the $150 charged is ostensibly excessive, has no justification and was never disclosed to me.

After I took prescriptions issued by ************* at ********************* office, I had really bad allergic reactions and I couldn't go anywhere but home. My face was swollen, my around eye areas were red and itchy with swollen eyes. After talking with *************, she suggested to do another visit. But that visit on March 20 was not helpful. Medicine was the only new thing during that period. I turned to another doctor for help, and that doctor said what I had was very likely an allergic reaction to the medicine. So, I did not pick up the new prescription Schweiger Dermatology gave. Now, my face is better by following ******************, NOT from Schweiger Dermatology.Hence, I strongly urged Schweiger Dermatology to waive the entire amount of bill for March 20 visit.

I received a service from Schweiger Dermatology on 10/4/22. My visit was covered by my then-insurance provider, Aetna. My plan with ***** was active until 10/5/22; on 10/6/22, my insurance changed to another provider. However, for reasons that are unclear to me, **********'s system showed my Aetna coverage as inactive on the date of service, despite *****'s repeated assurance that indeed I had coverage under that plan on 10/4/22. Over the ensuing 6+ months, I have received bills for the entire amount of my visit. I have called the billing department at Schweiger numerous times attempting to resolve the issue. Each time, the story has been the same: the rep says their system shows I didnt have coverage on 10/4/22; I explain that I actually did and that there seems to be a problem in their system; the rep tells me not to worry about it, and they will take care of the issue; and then a few weeks later I receive the same bill. There is seemingly no record in their account of any of these conversations taking place. Meanwhile, I have also called ***** repeatedly, and their representatives assure me that 1) I did have coverage on 10/4/22 and that 2) Schweiger has never once attempted to submit a claim to ***** for the date of service. On 3/13/23, when yet another bill arrived, I got a representative from Aetna on the phone with a member of Schweiger's billing department to verify that I indeed had coverage under *****'s plan on the date of service. During this group call, I was promised that yes, absolutely, this time it all would be fixed because my coverage was finally verified directly by the insurance company. However, on 5/1/23, I received 2 collections notices from Wakefield for the amounts of $475 and $55. The incompetence here is staggering.

Account# ************ On 1/**/**, I had an office visit at Schweiger to have a rash examined. My primary and secondary (both in-network) covered the exam and co-payment. I subsequently received a bill for $15.92 (bill is attached) for potassium hydroxide (KOH) preparations. On the bill it stated that my insurance paid $20 and my secondary paid $4.08. I viewed the claim from Emblem, they never paid $20- they stated that they needed additional details as to what the preparations were used for in order to cover them. My complaint is two fold: 1)The doctor conducted an in-office fungal test, scraping and examination under the microscope- this is a common routine procedure. I should not be balance billed for seeing an in-network provider and having an in-network procedure conducted. If this is somehow an out of network procedure- this was never relayed to me at any point.2) Instead of complying with the request of the insurance company for details on the use of the potassium hydroxide (KOH) preparations, the billing department decided to balance bill me. When I spoke with the billing department, they stated that they would provide Emblem with the additional details that they required, however, they submitted the same claim with no further details. I am requesting that the $15.92 be taken off my account, as I should have not been charged it to begin with.

I am writing on behalf of my fianc ******************************* as I handle her bills. My fianc went for a routine visit here on 1/9/23. The practitioner recommended an additional procedure without alerting her that the extra procedure would be applied toward her deductible and thus she had to pay out of pocket. As annoying as that was, she fortunately has supplemental insurance coverage (*************************) that agreed to pay that extra cost that the primary insurance did not cover. Schweiger actually requested payment from them directly and the insurance provider complied mailing it to them almost a month ago. While Schweiger did place the bill on hold, their offshore call center continues to claim that they have not received a response from insurance yet. This is an absolute lie. The insurance company has the exact dates the checks were mailed out and the address and went as far to ask that Schweiger call them and they would be happy to confirm they submitted payment and even issue new checks if need be. Instead the call center at Schweiger proceeds to tell us to just wait. I don't care if the balance is on hold, they have been paid by her insurance company and need to update their records. Furthermore, we have used this insurance for numerous other providers and have even received direct reimbursement from them and there has NEVER been an issue. After primary insurance was run, there was a remaining balance of $70.77. Baybridge sent two checks & EOBs as they needed to revise the original one. 3/7/23: $31.18 3/13/23: $39.59 ****** no longer owes Schweiger anything and any outstanding balance they have needs to be taken up with the insurance provider who is more than happy to ensure Schweiger gets paid in full. Schweiger just refuses to take the proper steps to resolve this.

I was in the office for my annual visit on 10/26. I paid my co-pay at the time of service, however I keep getting a $50 bill sent in the mail. When I call the office, on multiple occasions, I am told I have a $0 balance. Why am I getting statements that I owe, are these fraudulent attempts to get customers to pay duplicately?

It appears there was a miscommunication when you originally spoke to our office and your balance reflected a co-pay. As per your complaint, you were provided with incorrect information during your call, the person you spoke with did not check or realize there was balance. We have gone ahead and waived your $50 co-pay as a courtesy. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to see you in our office again soon.

7/13/2022 I received medical treatment with the office and agreed to a fee for the service in the amount of $500 prior to the procedure. After the service was performed, I paid the $500 in full with the front desk. Some time after the office visit I was sent an additional bill for medical fees increasing the costs by 40%.I called the office and let them know that I was told the fee for the service would be $500 and that I paid it in full. They expressed that that was for cosmetic procedures, and that the additional fees were for medical procedures. I let them know that I was not told this prior to the service provided and that I was told the fee for the visit would be $500, and that no other mention of additional fees were discussed before receiving treatment.Being told a procedure is $500, and then receiving an additional $200 bill afterwards seems like a very deceptive billing practice. Perhaps this was an oversight on the behalf of the office personnel and was not intentional. However, this does not change the fact that I was told one fee and then billed another after the service was provided.Skip forward, I continued receiving bills for this and called multiple times to dispute the charges costing me more time and money. On the final call before receiving a collection notice I was told by the representative that it would be taken care of and to no longer worry about it. Weeks later I received a collection notice. I have perfect credit, and now because of this businesses failure to communicate clearly, before providing a service, I am at risk of having my credit damaged, and have suffered significant loss in time and unreasonable frustration created by an error on this office's failure to communicate clearly before providing a service. It is unacceptable to bill someone 40% more than the original agreed upon amount and then send them to collection when they refuse to pay due to deceptive billing practices.Remove the charge!
