Canary has charged me $430 for premium service renewal with no contact prior to let me know. This service had been subscribed to by my husband who is deceased. I looked back and the price went up $130 from last year. I called the day the charges hit my bank to cancel but they refuse to refund my money, they offered only 60% which is crazy since I called the day it renewed. They are crooks, scamming people out of money. I am on a fixed income and cannot afford this. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE CROOKS!

On 10/06/2024 canary emailed me stating I am being charged for next years service on 10/13/2024, but no mention of the amount that will be charged. On 10/06/2024 I emailed canary back and wanted the amount they were going to charge before any unknown charge was made. No response from Canary, but on 10/13/2024 canary charged my card $265.15, protested the amount for 4 cameras. After 11 emails canary stated they would give me a brake when this year was over on 10/13/2025 but no refund on anything from the $265.15. This is very near theft by deception and very un- professional for a business to act.

Subscription for the same service went up almost $100 in 2 years. They purposely dont show you what its going to cost on the reminder email. Have had my cameras for over 6 years and will be canceling my subscription. Stay away from this company!

Canary you have terrible Business practices! They charged me for an annual renewal and I caught it the day of (October 6, 2024). I called and advised same day that I no longer had device and i had device off and they even have an address that I no longer even live at. I asked for reimbursement as I will not avail of their services. They said they'd create a "ticket", yet no response has been yet received. Again, I reached back out to them for the same reasons and an agent gave me textbook answer about their terms and conditions. I saw someone else say it's a money grab. This is definitely the case. This company does not follow its mission statement. of Everyone has a right to feel comfortable, safe and secure. (How, with your business practices?) Youve lost credibility and all my trust. You accept full refunds for almost everything except additional services per your terms. Now we see that your mission statement are just words on paper. I need my money back please and thank you!

Hi there, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Customer purchased ********************** and agreed to the terms of service since Oct 17, 2018 21:34 EDT. Customer self cancelled their subscription via the Canary app on Oct 6, 2024 08:57 EDT, therefore their subscription expires on Oct 6, 2025 08:07 EDT as per terms and conditions agreed to by both parties. Scam artist, I bought a Canary for security for my home. It notifies my phone when, the temperature goes up or down, when humidity goes up or down or if there is motion or a person in my home. It was sold as is or needing no extra charges to operate. Several years later they weren't making enough money, so they started a program, where they took and saved the videos and changed it to where they charge you for the videos, ****************** Another was they monitored, (professional monitoring) your system for 100$ a year, this is all farce. I had all that when I bought the unit and then they just decided to take away these benefit's and charge you for them. The monitoring is when they spied on you when you had your system set on privacy mode, (I don't need or want this option). I canceled my monitoring option because all they do is spy on you, that doesn't enhance the security system at all, and like I told Agent ****** if my system alerts me someone is in my home, I don't need a video copy because the police will have a dead body to see in person. So, my insurance company wanted to know if I had a security system in my home and I told them yes. They require a certificate from the security company to prove I have it. So, I texted and called Canary and they both came back with the same answer. They will not give a certificate of security because I'm not paying them money for this enhanced monitoring system. NOTE: The Canary Security System still works as it should, it monitors my homes temperature, humidity and for movement. But they want extra money before they will issue a certificate. ******************************* eight33 four40 three505 land line. I think this is extortion and should be stopped, Thank you for your time, yours truly ******* G ******

Hello *******, thank you for your message. With regard to the *************** plan changes you mentioned in your message, these were implemented in 2017. These plan changes had been planned for some time and are being made so we can more closely align with today's market, competitive offerings, and increasing costs. Professional Monitoring is a service offered by an external company (*********) and allows customers to receive 24/7 support, powered by Noonlight if they receive a notification of person-detected motion that they believe requires emergency escalation. This service is designed to work in away mode. The security of your video is our highest priority. Video and audio received from your Canary are encrypted in transit and stored using AES encryption. We've implemented these measures as well as many other security controls to help ensure that your data and your home remains safe. The only people that have access to your Canary account are those with whom you have shared your login information with. Insurance companies have strict criteria and the features of *************** are approved by most insurance companies when a certificate is requested. Basic Service which you have, does not meet this criteria.

*** had the same issue with this company as the others here - the annual renewal fee. My husband passed away from dementia and I needed the cameras to monitor his safety as he was bedbound. I noticed the renewal fee 2 days after it was charged and emailed to cancel and requested a refund. Not permitted as I had been sent an email 7 days prior. I do not check my phone/computer daily especially when I am still mourning my husband. I now have the service through 7/29/25 but the cameras are packed away and not in use. $140.12 for 2 days of use is outrageous.

Terrible customer service. They charged me for an annual renewal and I caught it within a few days. When I asked whether theyd be willing to reimburse me for the renewal (or prorated reimbursement) due to the fact that I havent used their product in years, they wouldnt even consider it. When I asked to reconsider, the agent gave me some textbook answer about their terms and conditions. It feels like a money grab and they have no consideration for people who truly have not used their product but didnt catch the annual fees charged the year prior.

I felt it important to add my complaint about Canary and their unwillingness to work with customers regarding their very strict annual auto renew policy. I contacted Canary on my auto renew date asking them to cancel my subscription and to refund their pending charge for $139 on my PayPal account. As a senior citizen during this time of inflation it is hard to pay the $139 at this time. Last year it was $52. Canary customer service just repeats the same message over and over. If you dont contact us to cancel in the fourteen days prior to the renewal date you are out of luck per their written policy. This means if you try to cancel and get a refund on the actual renewal date before the pending charge even goes through you are screwed. I already replaced a year old camera with another canary since having problems with it. Why would I ever buy another replacement in the future or even expand to additional cameras when the economy improves. They say they send out a reminder 7 days prior to the due date. Why not fourteen days at the very least. This is what causes government to set up more regulation and oversight of companies. California has passed a law to help consumers with the annual auto renew debacle and hopefully other states will follow

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Customer purchased ********************** and agreed to the terms of service since Jun 27, 2022 12:49 EDT. A reminder email is sent each year prior to the renewal as a courtesy only and our system confirms this was sent on Jun 20, 2024 00:24 EDT. The subscription renewed on Jun 27, 2024 12:49 EDT. Customer cancelled their subscription on Jun 27, 2024 19:41 EDT, therefore their subscription expires on Jun 27, 2025 12:49 EDT as per terms and conditions agreed to by both parties. As the customer contacted us after the renewal took place, we are unable to provide a refund. It is possible to cancel a subscription at anytime before the subscription renews. The reason why you were paying a reduced fee last year is you redeemed a 50% discount code for the previous 12 months. If you would like to discuss this further, please open a ticket with Canary support with the attention to ******* and he will be happy to work with you on this.

Whatever you do, do not invest in this company's products or services. I have 3 cameras, 2 inside 1 outside. I started having recording motion issues with my Canary Flex in May 2024 the problems are not on my end. I have done every reset, restart, uninstall and reinstalled. **************** is all email communication back and forth. The software service is not stable or functioning correctly & all they can say is the next update will resolve these issues. I do not trust that reply. Put your money where your mouth is and give me credit for 2 months or more because the recordings on my driveway are not working. They sure have increased the annual service fees since I started it went from $169.80 in 2021 to $201.74 in 2024.

I bought a camera three years ago and activated Canary Service. I moved and have been gone from that address for three years. I canceled my service. However, every year they charge my credit card again and I have to dispute the charges. They continue to charge for services not rendered. So frustrating. *************************
