Good evening valued client, thank you for your feedback. On 12/14, we performed a site visit to assess your reported leak. At the assessment, you stated that the roof itself was not leaking, but there is water dripping on your window seal and screen door when it rains. We further confirmed at the site visit that the roof is not leaking. It is normal for rain water to drip during and immediately after rainfall, and any excessive dripping is likely due to a problem with your gutters, which we did not touch during our solar installation and as such, are not covered under our warranty. Additionally, we confirmed through online monitoring that your solar system is producing normally, and the screenshot of your monitoring report is attached to this response.Initial Complaint

Good evening valued client, thank you for your feedback. Our records indicate a service technician performed an assessment at your home on 11/06/2023 and determined that the reported leak was coming from an area in the attic not in the vicinity of our solar installation. Per the service agreement, our workmanship warranty only pertains to the areas of your roof where the panels are installed. As a courtesy, we will be returning Monday 11/20 to patch the leaking area from the inside, which we confirmed with you today.Initial Complaint

I had solar panels installed earlier this year for my 3 units property on 2 separate meters (2 apartments on 1 meter (Floor 1 & basement), and 1 apartment on 1 meter (Floor 2). My electric bill on Floor 1 & basement remains high and calling ConEd to ask about the why, they indicated that my solar panels are connected but underperforming on Floor 1 & basement and over performing on Floor 2. They cannot do anything and recommended to ask Radiant Solar who installed my panels to plug more solar panels on Floor 1 & basement and less on Floor 2 to rebalance, which should have been done in the first place.I called Radiant Solar 11 times in 3 weeks and sent them an email. They do not want to come back and are telling me to ask ConEd for a credit, which they don't do. They are also saying that we agreed on the 50/50 split and they never asked me for this. I would not have known what to answer anyhow. I am presently stuck with expensive solar panels that do not work properly.Business Response

Hello valued client, thank you for your feedback. Our records indicate that your system has been connected to the utility grid since 02/01/2023. At the time of your initial consultation, you had incomplete usage data on both of your electric bills but requested that both meters be connected to solar. Given the circumstances, we reached a mutual consensus to install the system with an equal number of panels assigned to each meter. When we were notified of this issue months later, we explained that the system is fully operational and the second floor meter was generating credits to offset the first floor meter. At this time you requested that we change the entire installation to assign more panels to the first floor meter, which is not covered under our warranty. We offered you a fair price to perform the work at-cost (just charging materials and labor) which you refused.Customer Answer

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I actually had complete usage data on both electric bills on my initial consultation and shared my ***** electric bills with the representative. I explained to him then that one meter was linked to the top floor apartment (FL2), and the other meter to the first floor apartment (FL1) and the basement unit. I was never asked how many panels should be connected to each meters and you took on your own to connect 50% of the panels to each meter. The issue arose in the summer of 2023 with my electric bill for floor 1 being way higher due to FL1 AC consumption. ***** indicated that the panels were connected but FL1 was overproducing and FL2 underproducing. Please note that ******** doesn't transfer credits between accounts***. This can only be solved by updating the "panel connections" on each floor with more panels on FL1 (on 2 units), and less on FL2 (on 1 unit), not changing the full panels as mentioned in your message.
After reaching out to Radiant Solar for over 3 weeks, your rep texted me, indicating that it was not your responsibility and that I should reach out to ***** to get credits. I was never offered the fair price mentioned at-cost either.
All I am asking at this time, is to correct the course with updating the panel connections you did not install correctly in the first time. It is your responsibility as a professional company to install your products correctly in the first place. Thank you.
In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Good evening, the screenshot of your solar system monitoring report is attached, showing the system is producing as it should. Again, the reason you are getting electric bills for one meter and not the other the unequal usage between your two units, which we have no control over.Customer Answer

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:Thank you for sharing my latest solar panels report, which I access on a monthly basiS. I also receive a summary of energy used through my solar panels by Con ** with my monthly bills. Your statement about receiving only 1 bill for both meters is false as I receive 2 invoices and pay for each meter monthly. My statement about meter 1 over operating and meter 2 under operating was shared with me by Con ** solar department when I called them to discuss. They recommended to ask the company who installed my panels to come back and re-attach the panels. This brings us back to the same question of Radiant Solar coming back to my place, which you continue to decline to and finding unfunded excuses.
In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

I had my solar system installed in the summer of 2022. In the beginning of 2023 I requested the paperwork for the tax rebates before filing my taxes. I received everything except for the papers needed to get the *** property tax rebates. Almost every time I called the office, the phone went to voicemail and no one returned the call. On the rare occasion they did answer, the secretary refused to give me the contact information for anyone that has answers. All she could do is take a message which no one responded to. It took until June to be able to reach ***** on his cellphone, whose number I got from the financing company I used; and he explained that in order to apply for property tax rebates I need to have a certificate of completion. He said that since I have a flat roof, they require guardrails to be installed before I could get the certificate. He said he would schedule the work for the second week in July. I have not heard from any one since then, they do not answer calls, nor do they return calls when messages are left on their voicemail. When I tried calling from a different number they do not recognize, they return the missed call. When I explained who I am and what I need, the secretary again said she will find out and get back to me, but never actually did. Like other customers complained, this company does not return calls, has no customer service, and refuses to connect you to someone that has information. Its been over a year now and my job is not certified yet due to incomplete installation. I am also owed the third welcome check which according to the sales rep was supposed to have been sent as soon as the system was turned on. Interestingly, the salesman and the tech guy I dealt with to buy and start the process are the only people who answer my calls every time. Unfortunately, they no longer work for Radiant and are in no position to help. It makes me wonder what I would have to do if I ever require warrranty service or repairs.Business Response

Hello valued client, thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the delay getting the guardrails installed - summer is our busiest season of the year. However, we completed this task last Thursday. Regarding your rebate check, it was explained that your financing payments are still being covered by the first two checks you have already received. You will receive your next check before any out of pocket payments are incurred.Customer Answer

Thanks for installing the guardrails. I still have no information regarding how and when I will have the inspection to get the job approved and certified. Without this certification I cannot get my property tax rebates.
It is unfortunate that the only way I could get information is via the BBB complaint platform. It would be preferable if there was a way to get customer service to answer my calls and respond to my concerns. I have requested many times to get the contact for the project manager and was never given one.In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:********,
Thanks for getting back to me.The business response youve attached is different than the one posted on your website under my original complaint. On my compliant I mentioned two issues I was trying to get resolved by Radiant Solar.Issue number one was for them to complete their guardrail installation in order to get the job certified. That was indeed completed after my complaint but before their response. The second issue I complained about was not having received the third welcome check owed to me as per the agreed upon worksheet presented to me by their salesmen at the time. In their response to my complaint on the BBB website on 9/06/2023, they write your financing payments are still being covered by the first two checks you have already received. You will receive your next check before any out of pocket payments are incurred. I reject that response as false. It has been almost a full year since the time of that response and more than two years since the system was installed. They had told me the welcome checks were supposed to cover the first year and a half of my financing payments. I have long ago been paying the financing out pocket, something they admitted on their response they were supposed to cover with the third check. The check was never sent and the last time I was able to reach their secretary by phone she stated that the financial office has suspended all payments till further notice. When I asked to speak to the financial office, she stated that she cannot transfer me to them or give me a number to call them directly. I have not been able to reach anyone on any of their phone numbers since then.I would like to get a response from them as to why I have not received that check and when they will mail it.Please let me know if you need any clarification or anything further.Sincerely,-**********************************;In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

My panels have been malfunctioning for weeks during vital production months in the Summer and Radiant Solar is **** I have been calling them nonstop and leaving voicemails but they never pick up their phone during their listed operating hours and they do not give you calls back. I have yet to speak to one representative after calling for weeks. I also attempted to request contact on their website which does not function properly and gives an error message. I also contacted the representative who sold me the panels named **** and all he could tell me is that he quit and that to call the customer service number which never picks up or gets back to me. Each day I wait for a simple calback, my panels are malfunctioning and not generating any solar energy with all of the Summer months. This will surely negatively impact me in the Winter months where there is less sunlight and we rely on the excess of energy stored in the Summer. My panels are producing over 50% less than what they were in the first half of the Summer when they were working fine. I was also promised to receive 3 checks to compensate for the elongated period it takes for the panels to be up and running. I only received 3 checks and was told that I would receive the 3rd check once the panels begin functioning and I never have. Not only have I been lied to about the check, but I am suffering from paying tens of thousands of dollars for panels that are not functioning properly. As a business, it is very frustrating as a client when you are reaching out to an unresponsive organization.Business Response

The assertions made in this complaint are completely false. The solar installation was done with the required permit and has been connected to the utility grid and generating credits since October 2022. We also provided the client a $5,364 rebate to cover her first 18 monthly financing payments. The client alleged in February 2023 that we damaged her skylight during our installation which had occurred 6 months prior, despite never mentioning this at the time of the job. Regardless, we repaired the minor damage to the skylight hinge immediately upon receiving her feedback. The permit, permission to operate, rebate check images, and photographic proof of the skylight repair have been attached to this response.Customer Answer

In the beginning of 2023 my wife and I began looking to go solar. We looked for companies in our area and found Radiant Solar. They came to our home to inspect our roof which as they stated had to be in great condition to support the panels. They inspected our roof and roof video of it. Our first disappointment with this company began when we had our first rainstorm after they place the solar panels on March 3rd, 2023 - On this rainy day following insulation I had a massive leak in my roof that went down the wall ruining it. I contacted the company regarding the damaged caused by their Instalation and after many many phone calls was finally able to get a hold of someone who stated it was not their responsibility. I asked to be provided with the video they took of my roof to show that as they stated it was in great condition prior to them. ( this should have been my sign to exit) but we were still in the city approval process or so I thought. Since then we call daily - the city inspected the solar pane and stated one needed to be changed - the company said they would send a replacement in 2 weeks- months later we have no solar energy and a ****** loan. I called just yesterday 96 times with no answer. 5 months in Went to the address listed in the internet which happens to be a residential building. To no surprise no one was there. However, I was told building that. That this is a running scam. That they receive countless of hardworking people crying, frustrated and angry with similar stories of being robbed of 30,50, 60 like me ****** dollars. And never being able to contact them and not receive the service they were promised. That they have changed their business name 7 times and when ever someone is able to catch them in the office - they say that they are a different company and that they do not know the person that came to your home. 5 month of calling a much as 96 times daily- ****** added new debt and no solar energy provided. Help us pleaseBusiness Response

Hello valued client, thank you for your feedback. Per the numerous updates we have provided you regarding your roof, the leak you mentioned is located outside of our service area on the roof. Pursuant to our contract, our rooftop warranty applies only to the sections of your roof where panels are installed. We confirmed with pictures taken at multiple site inspections that these leaks are outside of the coverage area, and we provided you access to these pictures on multiple occasions, including in-person when you visited our office. We also explained during your office visit that your inverter has a manufacturer defect which requires a replacement to be sent to us by the manufacturer. As soon as we receive the replacement inverter, we will be able to install it, free of charge. As a reminder, you are still within the promotional period of your solar financing, which requires no payments for the first 12 months.
