Had an emergency (toilet tank over flowed through the handle and wouldn't stop plus the turn off valve was frozen - I ended up flushing every 4 minutes until they arrived) on a Saturday and they gave me a 4 hour response window, where they arrived with in 2.5 hours. The plumber was nice and knew what he was doing. He shut off they valve, provided a new pump, flap, and lowered the run off pipe which was higher than the handled and the reason for the overflow (a bad pump was the problem why it wouldn't stop filling). He also replaced the hose leading to the wall, which I thought was excessive. So they handled the job well. But the price was just under $500 (one can get a decent new toilet for half that). I asked what if they came during a weekday and told me it would be $40 cheaper. So my peeve is about the cost. Too bad I wasn't in a position to comparison shop. So, I was mostly satisfied with the job performed but not sure about the price but that is what one pays during an emergency.Roto-Rooter

Had leaking toilet repaired and charge was $289. Work was well done and price fair. However replacement of toilet seat (I provided the new toilet seat) was $289. I thought this an exorbitant charge for two screws and 10 minutes. Make sure you ascertain fees before proceeding with work.Roto-Rooter

The manager at the ******* Roto Rooter contacted me about the charges for the toilet seat change and agreed to a much more reasonable charge. They sent me a refund for the difference. I was very pleased with my dealings with Roto Rooter and would recommend them.Review fromRonald J

THEY WILL SCAM YOU OUT OF YOUR INSURANCE MONEY. DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO FILE CLAIM ON YOUR BEHALF. THEY USE TRICKS, TO TRICK YOU INTO SIGNING. THEY ALSO DON'T PROVIDE COPYS OF PAPERS YOU SIGN.THEY BRING THEIR IPADS AND ZOOM IN ON SIGNATURE AND INITIAL PART SO YOU DONT SEE THE WHOLE PAGE. I CALLED FOR A BUSTED PIPE THAT SPREAD WATER ACROSS MY FIRST FLOOR. INSTEAD OF A PLUMBER I GOT A FIELD SUPERVISOR TO SOLICIT SERVICES. THEY TALK BAD ABOUT THE INSURANCE COMPANIES SO YOU CAN TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CLAIM. JUST TO TURN AROUND AND TAKE ALL OF YOUR INSURANCE MONEY June 4th I experience a busted pipe that spread water to my master bedroom, closet, kitchen , and living room. I contacted rotor rooter and was able to get an appointment in the morning of June 5. Around 9 30pm on June 4 a field service supervisor ******************************* showed up to my house. Hes arrival caught me by surprise, he explains this is standard protocol. He was very personal, friendly, and seem honest. He checked the moisture level on the floors / baseboards. He stated that I should start water restoration as soon as possible to avoid mold and ask to see my insurance policy. He stated that I'm covered. The next day the pipe was fixed and also found out I had mold. It took them them 5 days to start the mold process. I have 2 small kids who got sick from being exposed to the mold that they were exposed to. They charged per equipment per day which he did not disclosed to me. I had so many machines hooked up they kept shorting my breaker. I had to turn them off and stop using. I told the tech but no documentation was done. Had I known I was being charged per day i would have told them to come get them. They charged me for a/c work that was not done. I wrote them a complaint letter / **** reduction they refuse to honor their words. I was told my ******************** that the estimate will not be over 5k. As the work progresses ******************** was nowhere to be found. He stop answering my calls.Roto-Rooter

I’m too smart to have been so stupid and let rotor rooter snake my kitchen sink for $645.. I paused and thought that’s a lot … but in the interest of time processed thinking it has to be what plumbers charge.. I’ve heard rotor rooters name growing up the only thing that is going to go down the drain is your money . DO NOT USE THEM !! No customer service , shady pricing slipped a bottle of their cleaner for $77 dollars without asking .. said the bottle was included when I questioned the tech.. nope it was added in the billRoto-Rooter

I had a leak from my home and I hired this company to send a Plumber out to see the problem and man lets just the experience was terrible. First the plumber was digging around our area to find out where the leak is and he just somehow couldn't find it. The person spent 3 hours and then had the audacity to charge me $450.00 just for the job. They didn't find the source of the leak and as a result our water still wasn't working. We gotten into a full blown argument and the plumber just left leaving the job half way done. I am NEVER using their service again.Roto-Rooter

Unacceptable business practices with significant deficiencies in their quoting, contracting, and execution process. I engaged them for an estimate on work to fix an issue with my sewer line. A salesman came out and assessed the problem then provided me with an estimate for the work. I agreed to the price and signed the contract to pay 50% upfront (which was required to schedule the job). I signed up for their partnered financing which resulted in a hit on my credit and me opening a Roto Rooter specific cc with the bank they partner with for financing. It took them 10 days after the initial assessment to get the excavation team out to start work (mind you this whole time sewage was backing ** in my basement and I wasnt able to use plumping). The excavation team was here for 5 minutes before declaring they could not perform the work as contracted because the space was too tight for their excavation equipment and a completely different approach would be needed using a hydrovac which they outsource. The size of the space was fixed and had not changed since the initial assessment so it was obvious that the salesman did not consult the necessary experts on the team prior to writing up the contract. They then told me as they outsource the work it would be an additional $5k to the original contract (this was negotiated down to $500 additional). They essentially trapped me into service by providing a low ball contract, requiring payment to schedule causing me to have to obtain financing, and waiting 10 days as the problem compounded only to come back and say they couldnt do the work as contracted (even though no variables had changed). I cancelled the contract and business with them and had a hydrovac company out to resolve the problem within 24 hours of calling at a fraction of the price. The only thing I received from my experience with was a lower credit score, a cc that can only be used for RR work, and a lot of sewage in my basement from 10 days of wasted time.Roto-Rooter

This company should be sued by a class action suit. They take advantage of homeowners in an untenable position when their main line sewer fails.Their work IS NOT GUARANTEED. Their prices are exorbitant, as compared to a regular plumber, and their employees must be under the gun to acquire contracts. When I refused to pay my **** due to excess charges, and a repeat of the problem one year later, I was threatened on the phone and was told someone would come to my house to pick up the payment.Stay away.Roto-Rooter

Rip-Off I was taken advantage of and overly charged.I had purchased my first home on July 15th 2021. around the third week of September I had reached out to Roto Rooter regarding a plumbing problem in my basement where the sewage was backing up. They sent out a guy who couldn't find the clean out drain in the yard he was going back and forth and checking the front for the drain so he proceeded to snake the hole that was in the basement and cleared the stoppage. I was that there was a broken pipe in the yard area and the cost would be around $6000 to fix, I had agree to the work and they were schedule to come out on 11/1/2021. I assume that it would be the same technician that had came out and access the work but instead it was two (2) other guys they proceeded to go into the basement and said the work needed to be done inside of the house not outside (that is not what the 1st technician had stated to me I assumed they knew what they were talking about and I allowed them to proceed with the work. After it was done I asked for a copy of the work and videos I didn't get that till 6 mos later. However. On July 22nd I had to have another come out for the same issue that Roto Rooter claimed they had fixed for me. Only to find out and I do have documentation that they didn't fix my problem and they used uneven PVC piping, they only installed a Clean out not repaired a supposed broken pipe ( Roto Rooter can contest this all they want, I have the video and also saw what was done by the other company). The piping was no more then 3 feet down, which did not call for an excavation there were no debris hauled off the property the work they did called for a *********************, filling the dirt back in the hole and cement what was broken. I was charged a $6000 fee for nothing. I have contacted a lawyer, and also notify the *********************** for the state of PA. I will pursue this to the fullest of my ability. I was taken advantage of Lied too. UNACCEPTABLERoto-Rooter

I had received an e-mail from ******************* stating the following: Im following up with this email to discuss the next step with you. Upon further review and speaking with my supervisor we would like to offer you a $615 credit for the olbackhoe charge that you have questioned. Although this code was for jackhammer rental, disposal of the concrete and dirt we want to work with you on this.I had responded UNACCEPTABLE; Reason being that what they charged was way more then the work they did. Claiming that the had to excavate the debris from using a *********************. (they did not they refilled with the dirt and then cemented the remaining). 1. Install a 3 to 4 inch PVC (which was cut wrong) by the analysis of a contractor that I had to call out to fix the problem according to their camera feedback the repair was not done they (Roto Rooter) install a clean out (which was not needed internally) there is a Clean out outside).2. Roto Rooter want to state the the issue is that my line connects with the other property. 3. According to the extensive research and snaking (the connection does not case the back up to my property) it is within my area that the problem persist.4. I am asking Roto Rooter for one half of the $6000 that I had paid them so that I can pay another company to go behind them and fix my issue.5. I have waited three (3) days to hear back and haven't thus far. I hope that we can resolve this issue without legal help. I have contacted an attorney to file a claim against Roto Rooter. Hopefully I can hear back shortly before I move forward.R. M.

On August 17th I got a response back from Pat S****** stating that a check was mailed on 8/12 in the amount of $3000. Today is 8/23 and I still have not received the check. I had reached out to P. S****** on 8/22 asking for an update and what is going with the refund (No Response). I did let her know that I don't trust what Roto Rooter is say due to pass experience and deception with this company. She did provide a check number which means nothing to me It don't take all this time for a check to come from Ohio. I asked for the money to be directed deposited into my account (just like they were able to take from my account from the services) I was told that it had to be refunded by check and mailed with the current mail status today I don't trust the mail. I have a serious plumbing issue and need repairs immediately and this money is to add to the cost (Roto Rooter refuses to fix their problem) I have to hire another company to do what they didn't do. In the mean time I am waiting for something that I don't think I am getting. I am and will today reach back out to my local States Attorney's office and file another complaint regarding this matter this is going to far with no resolution.R. M.

I received noticed from Roto Rooter stating that a check was mailed on 8/12 they also provided check number. However this is the 24th day of August and the check has not still been received. I will continue to write until I get a resolution regarding this matter. I have asked them to track the check number and all I Keep getting is that it was mailed. I don't believe that it was and it wouldn't take this long to get to it's destination. If not received by Monday of next week I will have my Attorney seek Civil action against this company I am tired of the games they are playing.Review fromStephan F

Please read through to the end to see why my experience was overall negative, and why I'd recommend a different plumbing company Pros:- Plumber came out quickly, within 20 minutes of calling roto-rooter.- My problem was solved within 10 minutes.- They were available in the early evening.Cons: - had to stand and wait ~12 minutes on the side of the highway to wait for the van to then guide them to my exact location, despite giving them the address.- upcharge for calling them on the weekend - they didnt even mention the price until after the job was finished. So you could be charged anything and be responsible for it.- $200 for a 5-minute job, only needing to run the snake through the toilet. We spent more time paying roto-rooter and goving payment info than actually doing the job! - The plumber pulled out the snake from the clogged toilet and, without any care, just let the ***** matter drip onto the carpet! He saw this happening, without any worry.. I was speechless. He also let a lot just flood onto the bathroom floor. See the pictures attached to my review. This is just a completely utter shock to me. It is now taking almost as much work to get the floor fixed as it was to get the snake to fix the clogged toilet. I would not pay $200 for this, and I would just choose another company unless you want to create more work for yourself. Conclusion:I tried to give this 4 star company a shot since they were the only plumber open in the area at that time of day, but I will now just have to play it safer with a 5 star company in the future.Roto-rooter, I don't know what I can say about having an employee just carelessly let humanwaste go everywhere without any care, but you CANNOT let that be acceptable, and I will make a review here and on BBB so that people are aware of this carelessness. I know it could be worse, and appreciate the fast service, which is why I gave 2 stars instead of one.-Roto-Rooter
