I had a flood 4 weeks ago and made the critical mistake of calling Roto Rooter. Instead of recommending a camera, the guy who came charged me 2k to replace my cleanout valve because he had to go to a store and didn't have the necessary supplies. Then I was charged ~5k for cleanup for the sewage in my basement. My insurance only covers 5k. One week later, the same thing happens. They send a tech out who tells me 'it's a mystery" as to why my drain keeps loading up with ***** and sewage. He does a snake and tells me nothing happened. Doesn't do a thing.Another week later, the same thing happens. I call and am told "I am not allowed another call out" for the LACK OF SKILL PROVIDED BY THEIR TECHS. Then I'm told I should've had a camera from day 1. Camera shows I need de-scaling. We set it up for today. NOBODY SHOWS. Typical. I am told I will have to reschedule. My dad just got out of the hospital after 4 1/2 months and needs me to take him to doctor's ************* WHICH IS WHY I ASKED FOR HELP TODAY. I already paid $3,000 for this service that has not been done.I've paid around $15k for INCOMPETENCE, LAZINESS, AND LACK OF SKILL. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. I am ready to launch a PR and legal campaign to get my money back for how they treated a single woman caregiver in a time of desperation. DISGUSTING. OUTRAGEOUS. Don't hire this company for any reason. They don't know what they're doing and will ***** you for being female.

On September 1, 2022 I scheduled an appointment for an free estimate to replace my water heater. Two technicians showed up to look at my water heater. I was asked by the older gentleman if I was the worker, at this time it was explained no I own the house. After they looked at my water heater I was asked by the older gentleman if I was going to get the work done today. I informed him no I have other companies coming out to give free estimates to see which company I will be using. At this time I was informed I owe a $69 dollar fee I asked for what I know Im replacing the water heater. He explained since I did not get the work done I owe a$69 trip fee. The older gentleman then told his partner we will not charge him I asked for the estimate he refused stating I did not pay so I only get it on my email I explained that was fine. A few minutes later I received a call from billing right away a very rude women started yelling telling me I need to pay $69. I tried to explain I thought I was receiving a free estimate she said I need to pay the trip fee. After arguing with her I advised I will pay but I will not be doing any business with Rotor Rooter ******* in the future she stated fine and we ended the call. If you are shopping around ******* area for an estimate on plumbing I would go elsewhere.

I am writing this review to warn others on the deceptive and highly illegal practices that Roto Rooter is engaging in. I own a preschool and needed repairs to our septic tank pumps. We called Roto Rooter to fix it. The rep did NOT fill out the costs/pricing on the invoice when he asked my husband to sign it. He told my husband that he had to sign in order for them to do the work and would add in what it cost later. The rep told my husband that it would add up to about $8,000 and he told the same thing to my Director. He didn't even write our business name correctly on the invoice. We needed the repair done quickly because we had several bathrooms not working. Did they fix the problem overnight? Yes. Did they do a good job? No...they used an EXTENSION CORD to power the pumps (and other details I won't go into) which kept tripping the breaker because of the water involved in such a repair. They didn't even try to fix the wiring. How much did they charge? $12,300 for 10 hours of work. They replaced two pumps, which cost about $2,000, so the rest was labor. We were forced to hire a septic company to replace all of their work to the tune of $9,000 because it was so substandard. I complained to their billing department and management and they only took 20% off of the bill even after learning all of this. They asked for the estimate and paid invoice of the other septic company that had to fix everything they did, but I don't know if they even called to find out how poorly their plumbers did on our job.I have worked with a lot of service providers over 16 years of business ownership. I have bought and rehabbed three business properties and I have never had the predatory experience that Roto Rooter gave us. I can't stand businesses who operate this way and so badly take advantage of their unsuspecting customers. I am telling you all this in the hopes that this doesn't happen to someone else. And ****** learned the hard way...even when you are desperate, don't sign anything

They responded to a clogged septic line. They unclogged the line (double charged), and the tech notified the remediation unit. They sent a representative out that urged me to call off the company I had already contacted, that they could do it that day. Under duress with sewage backed up in the house, I agreed. He surveyed the site and mobilized a crew that came out that afternoon. Turns out they turned in an estimate/invoice to the homeowners that was erroneous. Square footage was off by about 100%. Charged for work they did not perform. When I challenged them with the errors they made some adjustments, removed significant scope (restoration), and reinvoiced for almost the original amount. Reported to my homeowner's adjuster and was told they are notorious for overcharging and their estimate was 67% higher than what it should have been. It's still unresolved.

I had a drain back up in my basement, there was no standing water, but there was some residue on the basement floor near the drain. I called Roto-Rooter and they were out within 24 hours to misdiagnose the problem. They have no shame lying to woman, taking advantage of people who are not experts in plumbing and water issues or following up on future service needs. Service call July 14, 2022: First, Danny arrived early ~7:45AM. He had a lot of trouble snaking the drain and was quick to point out, he doesn’t ever struggle snaking drains. He’s a pro. He hypothesized my nearly 100 year old cast iron sewer pipe was collapsed or collapsing. He described the clog as oatmeal and would do the best he could. It took him about 4 hours and he then called out another technician (Andy) to jet the line with water to clear the clog. I paid Danny $520. Andy arrived within the hour with the jetting equipment. He was able to clear the clog. I paid him an additional $485. He then called for a 3rd technician to come out with a camera to examine the sewer line. Nick came out a little while later with the camera equipment. He confirmed that the cast-iron had eroded and the sewer drain was collapsed. He quoted $9k to have the concrete dug up, drain replaced with PVC and concrete repaired. Nick was able to show me on the concrete floor where the pipe needed to be dug up, ~10’ of pipe under the concrete floor. He advised me to look into home owners coverage and told me he could send over an itemized bill for the labor costs associated to the problem. I was told that this is a very serious problem and time is of the essence to keep the drain clear before repairs could be made. I was told not to flush even toilet paper for risk of another backup. 2 business days later I emailed for the itemized quote, but got no response. When I hired a different company for a second opinion they said there were no problems.

Roto-Rooter came to my house for water damage remediation. Not only are these services over priced (ex: they charged over $35 to move a range 6 inches out and didn't unplug anything and they removed all my kitchen flooring which I later found out it was completely unnecessary. Charging a total of over $3,500) but most importantly, they put me and my family in a compromising situation with no regards to our health by not following proper procedures! When they started to remove the floor planks in the kitchen, one of the techs found green vinyl tile. He immediately stopped and said because the age of my home (****s, I recently bought the house) they needed to first test for ASBESTOS because they were not qualified to handle contaminated materials. He called the project manager over, who shortly came by to collect the samples. The ** got his samples then had a brief conversation with one of the techs. Before I knew it, they were forcefully removing ALL of my flooring which confused me since one of the guys just said they had to take samples first to make sure they were in the clear to proceed. Unfortunately, I trusted these people and didn't speak up when it didn't feel right. After they removed ALL of the flooring that day, samples still in hand, they brought in their dehumidifiers and left for the day. 5 days later the results came in from the samples they submitted and it came back POSITIVE FOR ASBESTOS! That same day, one of the techs called me (he wasn't aware the results were in) and when I told him the results came back positive he said, "Oh...well that changes everything..." but didn't elaborate. He then told me I should give ****** (the Project Manager) a call. He dodged my call and didn't respond to my voicemail (the results were also sent to him via email by the company who tested it). They came to pick up their equipment the next day but avoided my questions. I have been exposed to asbestos now, based on the contract I signed, they can be held liable.

I have many words about this company and not one is nice. They came out, charged just over $600 to snake the toilet and run the camera. The tech had to cut the bolts on the toilet (he did put new ones in).Upon running the camera (which I was never shown anything) the tech determined that the piping UNDER our home AND in the yard would have to be dug up and replaced. Estimate from him was $7200 (give or take some).Upon discussion with a dear friend, it was suggested to get a second opinion. So, I did.And come to learn, the piping under our home is just fine and the piping in the yard is ok. No digging and tearing up of the house required.Ive learned Roto-Rooter does this frequently to people and its disgusting. To try and get hard working families/people to spend thousands of dollars that ARE NOT necessary. They ought to be ashamed of themselves and I hope one day karma gets them in the back side.If you are reading this review, I beg you to take it seriously. Call for a second opinion or please find a local company.Had it not been suggested that we get a second opinion, we would have spent what savings we do have on something unnecessary.

Had a garbage disposal issue as it was leaking when using the disposal or the faucet. They did give us a time window of when they would be arriving to fix the issue. The disposal had to be replaced and we offered to go buy it but he left and came back with the disposal. The service was done less than an hour to install and they rob you of the labor charges. The labor was 3x more than the actual device and parts. They are a flat rate company, so it doesn't matter how long the job is or when they come out to service the issue.Overall service by the repair guy was good and he was nice but the labor charges to use this company is absurd.

I contacted Roto-Rooter today, 8/21/22, asking them to service my kitchen sink drain/garbage disposal. I called around 10:00 AM and was told they had a plumber available between noon and 4:00 PM. I agreed and stayed home to wait for the plumber to arrive. At almost 3:30, I called asking for an update and was told the plumber would arrive by 4:00 PM. When the plumber hadn't arrived at 4:30 PM, I called again and was told it would be by 5:00 PM. At almost 6:00 PM, I called again and was again told they could not provide an exact time, or contact with the plumber to get a better idea of what time he would arrive. I got the same response at 6:00 PM and, when I called at 7:00 PM and got the same response again, I mentioend reporting this to BBB and my local ******* ** ******** because they initially promised service between noon and 4:00 PM and failed to even contact me with either an updated arrival time or to say that they could no longer meet the promised time for service. It was after 7:00 PM when someone stating she was a lead in their contact center, called me twice, once to say someone would be at my home within ***** minutes and then called back to say that plumber now had some issue that was preventing him from arriving at all. I shared with her, and all of the 4 or 5 different Roto-Rooter employees that I spoke to how they offered the noon - 4:00 PM arrival time but didn't seem to care that they had failed to meet that promise and showed no interest in doing anything to help me. They could have even, much earlier in the day, told me that they would not be able to send someone which would have allowed me to contact another plumber. As I had mulitple contacts with different Roto-Rooter employees and none of them took any steps to help me fix this leaves me feeling as a very unvalued customer. I think their call center is focused on gathering customers without ensuring that those customers are going to receive proper service. This should be 0 stars.
