KeyBank is the worst. Have constant issues with them. They are my fourth string bank, yet occasionally still use them and regret it every time.
I have a $9,500 line of credit, yet can only transfer $5k a day. They put a hold on anything above $4500 for 4 days. The next day I transferred the $4500 no problem. The $5000 is still pending for 3 days…and they are charging me interest on the $5K that hasn’t transferred yet.
Zelle: The told me there is a max $500 per day transfer. Most banks I work with have a daily max of $3500.
Have many other constant issues and all the branches I have gone to are always under staffed and hold less physical cash on hand. Have only a few thousand dollar withdrawal limits.
Just very difficult to work with. Yet did get my PPP biz loan approved in 21 days in 2020. So there is one thing they did better. Most of the time it’s just super frustrating and hard to work with.

I have had them for Merchant Services for years. I am self employed, and use it for payments only, and every month on the 3rd Key takes out of my account for my CC fees.
While in Michigan weekend of July 1 there was a change unbeknownst to me. ALL communication started coming from ****** not Key (****** is my card reader and app to use my phone as a terminal). I get a notice that my account will be charged $14.95 ($16 with tax) but it was NOT for my normal monthly fees that come out on the 3rd. I had to LOG IN to even see the normal monthly charges statements (no longer did they send PDF, as in past).
The SHADY bit upon logging in, MAKING you AGREE to the "terms" when I went to log in, and NOT KNOWING what "plan" (can't see until you log in...) or terms or anything of the changes (WHICH I DID NOT MAKE OR AGREE TO NOR NEED), so I literally STOPPED logging in while on vaca on the weekend, because I wanted to call Key Bank about it.
Key "fixed" it when I called, at which time I proceeded to log in and "agree", but the "fix" was PRORATED, AND I DID NOT GET MY MONEY BACK (prorated $13.02) until next month! They said I should NOT be charged because I only needed it for payments, not inventory (which is the "Essentials" plan benefit), and *I* never changed it nor agreed to it. They said since by the time I looked into what was going on, I had taken ONE appointment (which happen to be a charge), so they REFUSED to refund me the whole $16.
So to summarize, the $16 "Essentials" Plan THEY put me on and potentially others, WITHOUT consent, offering app inventory services (I actually had shut OFF that feature as it was annoying and caused me extra steps). I already pay them for credit card services, but HOW can just CHARGE MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT MY PERMISSION for something new? Now I have to count $2.98 as a "business loss" somehow, for inventory app service fee, for inventory I do not even have.

For more times I can count now, they have hit me with an overdraft item charge for a transaction even with a positive balance on my account. They're own transaction history shows they did so. In past the local branches have been great about fixing issue, but I've had enough at this point. This should not be a continual problem. Been with this bank loyally for 20 years. I'm switching banks. Can only imagine how much they pocket daily from people who aren't realizing it's happening.

My former employer, headquartered out of state, used this bank to administrate HSA accounts. At every step, they have been incredibly difficult to deal with. The initial paperwork to open the account mailed to me had a very tight timeline of return, forcing me to incur delivery fees just to open the account. There is a $10 annual fee to hold the account; this is not the case for my new administrator. The interest rate is insultingly low for the savings account. They require you to open a brokerage account with them for HSA investments. My new administrator allows us to work with a discount brokerage. Every trade requires you to call a broker directly. There is a $25 trade fee. You have to specifically request forms to self direct your brokerage account. They have done everything in their power to prevent me from closing my account and transferring my money to my new administrator. They do not list anywhere online the address of their Retirement Operations department that you need to mail the transfer form to. They claimed that they could not accept my transfer form without the signature or letter of acceptance of my new administrator. My new administrator was baffled by this request and had to provide a customized letter of acceptance for this supposed need. My letter of acceptance was then rejected upon receiving it because I did not resend the transfer form that they already have on file, so I now I have to mail both forms again. And after all of this, they are charging me $25 to close the account. I have never received any communication from them at any point in this process. I have had to wait and call them directly to be told that something was wrong. This has prolonged the process of my transfer for months and months. My 401k rollover with ADP was painless. I made the request. They mailed me a check. I scanned the check in with my new administrator's app. KeyBank has made this effort sisyphean. Avoid this bank at all costs.

Key bank acknowledged receiving incoming wire but they don't want to release it to me and they can't give me reasons for holding the wire. I Have all the information they need but they will not talk to me.

This bank offers the 200 promotion for opening a checking account, they offer overdraft protection also, but what they don't tell you is that if you use the overdraft protection and also 20.00 per overdraft fee, within the 60 day period after opening your account, you then do not get your 200.00 promotion! I also had a horrible time getting answers to why I did not get the promotion money! Customer service at this bank is horrible! I do not recommend this bank to anyone!

I had made a business account approximately 3/4 weeks ago.
I deposited $1000 from my personal account to get it started and had made several withdrawals and deposits since then.
Then my account was restricted needing more info. Here I am 5 days later without access to my money.
My money. I’m a small business and this is honestly theft.
I have been told for 4 days now that there’s nothing anyone can do do get me my money.
      Theft.

This morning I was told that the representative closed my card because I inquired about a transaction placed on my account. I refused to be given a different card because I have so many things coming out of my account with that she still proceeded to close my account and never ordered me another card. This has caused me so many financial issues. I hate this bank

Lazy and unprofessional staff working in the cubicles. My mother passed a year ago. We had a joint account. I brought in her death certificate to have her removed from the account. Young man there absolutely refused to do it, stating it wasn't necessary. I could tell he was just plain lazy. Now I wish to close the account altogether but am running into problems b/c no longer living near a branch. Customer service states I cannot do over phone b/c I have to bring in her death certificate to a branch. I knew this would happen. In general, this bank (not just this branch but KEY BANK overall) has absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. I speak as a middle aged professional with a doctorate. I will be glad to be rid of them!

Never in my life have I dealt with a more incompetent organization...customer service reps are untrained and haven't a clue what they're doing. They pass you around like a hot potato. They refuse repeated requests to speak to escalate to a manager. The 8th person I spoke to today was a manager named Brandon (I FINALLY go through to a manager) who BERATED me for accidentally calling him Braden instead of Brandon, after I had put up with over an hours worth of ongoing mistakes on the part of multiple staff members, including him. How could a bank like this possibly remain in business I ask in all sincerity??
