Key bank froze my account because my SS check didn't go into said account. When I called on the second of June, 2023 it said that my check was posted. I went shopping and wrote a check. It was denied. I went to the bank and they said the check was NOT posted. I called SS and it still said it was posted. SS told me to have the manager write a letter stating the check didn't post. Now they won't write the check because they are working on my account to see why it wasn't posted. My account is in the red and when someone tries to get their payment they return the check for insufficient funds. I told the branch manager I didn't want to wait any longer because my bills are piling up and I'm NOT the one who's going t o pay for the return check fees. He refuses to write the letter and I'm very upset to the point that I'm sick to my stomach. This bank doesn't stand behind it's policies.
The manager was supposed to call me but didn't. I call him and he acts like he doesn't want to hear what I have to say. I told him to write the letter and he says now he can't. I asked him why he told me he had to get prior authorization, he said fine if you don't want your money going into your account we will just send it back to SS and you still won't have your money. He's very rude at this point and I don't care. Is there anything I can do to expedite this process?

KeyBank in ******** ****** is the worst bank ever for people who are elderly. They keep your money pending for government checks when you need to pay bills when I got fraud on my account someone used my same to cash a check through the phone system and now they won’t give me my government benefits I get from the state. They keep on saying is pending for almost a week. This bank is the worst thing ever and the customer service is not good and they’re making me late on bills I need to pay. They won’t even not even help me with anything they just say sorry that’s it. Which is their fault for letting a fraud check go through and their account see my account when it was their fault taking a phone check without verification purposes and not letting me know. Do not ever go to the bank.

Key Bank admitted being a racist bank to me. I had a very simple dispute that was elevated to their "special resolution" department in Cleveland. These are people you cant know their names or phone numbers, but they "are in charge of your case" for three months they strung me along assuring me that my case was nearly complete and about to be resolved. Then one day I received a call from an unnamed caller clearly calling from the Key Bank company in Clevaland telling me I was being played because of my race. This employee was disgusted by the open discussion of my case and the fact my race was the reason I was being played. Like clockwork I received a call from the very department investigating my case and assuring me for months my case was reasonable and would most assurabley be resolved: was concluded and dropped. End of story. Case Closed... good bye... chuckle chuckle...

In March, 2023 I was scammed online within my private, group. Seller claimed he had parts for sale which he never possessed and was using a fake profile. My group admin. alerted me and I took extra steps to find out the scammer's true identity. I paid via Paypal but called Key Bank immediately and after intake, was informed I could place a stop payment for the amount of $95, with the fee waived.
I learned that the representative failed to properly enter and save my data! I had to chase them again to re-file the complaint! Costing me more time and money. After pushing KEY, I was finally issued a provisional credit while they 'investigated.' I already provided a police report that monitors online scams, provided them with my official complaint to Paypal as well. KEY sent me a questionaire in the mail, which I promptly filed and returned.
with no warning or communication, I learned 5/13 my money was automatically debited from my account by KEY! Felt like my own bank, of 20 years was scamming me! They have done a piss poor job of protecting a client from a scam, and showed no urgency to facilitate a positive resolution.
I have made a formal complaint to Consumer Protection. I feel KEY values $95 'chump change' more than a client of over 20 years.

Key Bank is the worst bank I have ever been with. For personal checking its ok. Anything else run especially mortgages. Key Bank uses victims of natural disasters as profit making machines. My house was flooded 2 years ago and to this day i am still trying to rebuild because Key Bank refused to release the insurance money. They force victims to pay for repairs out of pocket while they withhold the money as long as possible to generate interest/profit off the insurance from your tragedy/Disaster. Their goal is to refuse you the insurance money for as long as possible. The longer they refuse you the money to put your life and dreams back together the longer they can continue to generate profit off your tragedy.
This is a unethical and abusive financial institution that preys on American citizens who have been victims of a natural disaster. It’s shameful, unethical and down right un-American. I will be doing my part the rest of my life to information Americans about Key Banks harmful business practices.
Even when I made it to the executive branch of Key Bank after a year of fighting with them. They said they weren’t willing to assist victims of natural disaster with the rebuilding process yet they still demand I pay my mortgage and insurance every month for a house I haven’t been able to live in for 2 years. while they refuse to release the insurance money I pay for every month to repair my home.

Was out of work due to medical issues and only received 60% of my income. I spoke to a rep about my situation with my car loan and she informed me she would contact loss mitigation for me and that they would contact me within 24-48 hours. Never heard from them except a letter 2 months later that I was “denied” for any help. Fast forward to today and my car was repossessed during the night, even after making a payment 2 days prior, which my account was still late but catching up and less than 60 past due. Contacted key and they are trying to get me all of the info to get my vehicle back, but another department is taking their good ol sweet time getting back to rep that’s working on it for me. I work 50 hours a week after my medical issues and take care of my elderly mother, but without a vehicle neither will be possible.

KeyBank is hands down the worst financial institution I have dealt with. My mortgage refi took four months to close.
They lost hard copies of documents, and Customer Service never answered calls. I had to submit the same info over and over.
And to top it off, I was recently notified that the service they use to make sure my homeowners insurance is paid (which, by the way is paid in escrow) had been hacked, and the hackers now have my name, address, and first eight digits of my social security number.
The only recommendation I would make for KeyBank is that you absolutely never use them.

I too would rate them a zero if that was an option. ******** ***** had us financed through them and the payments come out automatically so that wasn't the issue. We have paid about $20,000 on the solar panels and have a balance of a little over $25,000 left. March 4, 2023 my husband passed away. Now if that weren't enough I'm being pressured, almost threatened that I can pay them off or "assume" the loan meaning I would have to apply for a brand new loan. I'm 63 and I don't work. At first they wouldn't even tell me the balance since it was in his name. A payment was supposed to come out 3/24/23 but they stopped it because he's deceased even though he's still on the bank account. I'm told if I don't pay it in full within 60 days it will go to collection and they will turn off my solar panels! They need to be shut down!

KeyBank small business owners beware. Not completely keybank but the government as well. The government placed regulations where a small business or any business is responsible for any fraud within the account. Feel free to check CFPB or NACHA to verify. To a major corporation it might not sound like a big deal but to small businesses it is. In our postion we lost roughly $4k, as a small business owner that is about all we had. Worked and put the money back in the bank but still charged the fees by KeyBank Center ( I tag whatever is related to key). Originally was told 10 days to get the money back. Now being told 90 days. Meanwhile still having to pay the initial fraud back and keep going. For KeyBank to keep charging fees and no credit what so ever. A normal week is roughly $7k in revenue. @keybank maybe they should kick down that revenue lost the past 3 weeks. Fbi
