The worst, more ridiculous and non-compliant bank I’ve ever seen!
They do not follow bank regulation and standards at all, causing distress and loss to customers instead of financial well-being and success! They make their own rules and don’t care if you know it’s not compliant with fair banking practices and regulations or not.
They take no responsibility for ruining their customers businesses and lives by holding DEPOSITS without disclosing extensive holds for absolutely no reason at all! Then charges fees during their holds for however many days, they decide to do so!
Business customers should stay away from key! Because they do not care about you! I had fraud on my business account, and because they have 90 days to refund the transactions, they take every single one of those days to do so! That also means-they leave you completely vulnerable to continued theft because they don’t give you a different account during those 90 days, because that would mean they agree with the fraudulent charges before the 90 days they have to refund us, is up! SERIOUSLY!!!
Customer service is non-existing at this bank. Don’t even waste your time! They hang up on you if you have questions they can’t answer lol they also have no motivation to resolve any issues you have. It’s like they are purposely training employees not to care and help customers and to cause as many fees as possible to collect.
Getting my money out of there right now and never looking back.

This KeyBank at 721 Canal St, Stamford CT is not worth a penny to try. Please stay away from this.
Colorful promo brochure they send is hoax or works rarely if you are lucky.
When you apply to open a new account online, they keep all your info, to create a profile but do not reply. When you call, thy will ask tons of question and give a vague reply.
      Please stay away!!

Subject: Abysmal Experience with KeyBank: A Masterclass in Terrible Customer Service
      Rating: ??
I recently had the displeasure of dealing with KeyBank's customer service while attempting to set up an external account, and the experience was nothing short of a nightmare. If I could give them zero stars, I would.
Firstly, the representatives I spoke with seemed to have zero knowledge about the process of setting up an external account. It's baffling how a bank, supposedly dedicated to customer service, can employ individuals who lack even the most basic understanding of their own procedures. It felt like I was dealing with amateurs who were making things up as they went along.
The incompetence of the customer service team was further exacerbated by their lack of professionalism. I was met with condescending attitudes and dismissive responses as if my concerns were beneath their attention. It's as if they've never heard the concept of "customer is king." Well, at KeyBank, the customer is apparently just an inconvenience.
The whole process dragged on for an eternity, with countless phone calls and frustrating attempts to get a straight answer. It's mind-boggling that in this day and age, a bank like KeyBank can't streamline a simple process like setting up an external account. I've had more efficient experiences dealing with government bureaucracies – and that's saying something.
To add insult to injury, there was no attempt from KeyBank to rectify the situation or compensate for the hours of my life wasted on their ineptitude. It's clear that they couldn't care less about customer satisfaction or providing a reliable service.
In conclusion, if you value your time, sanity, and the idea of competent customer service, steer clear of KeyBank. They have proven themselves to be a shining example of how not to treat customers. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for a bank that actually values and respects its clients.

Horrible ! I understand the overdrafts I caused myself.. was going to pay it off but they took a credit from a claim.. their reason was it was fraudulent.. it was but not from me.. so long story short they keep dragging me down.. like I said I get the OD FEES. I read the rules .. but that return credit is a sick joke.. absolutely disgraceful..

My 90-year-old mother gave me a check from her account at Key Bank to cash and give to family members for Christmas presents. I went to the Key Bank noted in this review to cash it. All they had to say was, "Sorry, we don't cash checks unless you have an account with us." I would have gone to my own bank. Instead, they looked at my ID, a NY driver's license, which is the highest-level Class D license in NY. My middle name matches my mom's last name as well. The next thing asked of me was my social security number. I did not give them my social security number, which is definitely a breach of personal data. Then the teller began to scan the back of my NY license. She did not ask permission, nor did she say why she was scanning it. I questioned her and she did not give me an answer. I was then asked if I was employed. This is outright discrimination. I couldn't believe it. Are your services based on a person's employment status? I felt like I was being profiled and was being treated like scum. Lastly, the teller and another teller at this point said it would be $7.50 to cash the check. At that point I took the check and said I was going to go to my own bank. I will never set foot in a Key Bank again.

You cannot see a list of transactions on their bank site. Let me repeat: you cannot see an accurate list of transactions on their bank site. That is wild. Even Venmo gives you a better idea of your account. The only way to accurate seeing transactions in your account(s) is to wait for the monthly bank statement. Using their online web portal or even downloading CSV files does not give you an accurate idea of money going in/coming out. In fact deposits are one file, checks are another, and some certain types of transactions will not show on any type of file. Save yourself the headache, and bank with literally anyone else.

DO NOT USE KEY BANK! Unfortunately, they purchased my commercial loan from GE Financial. Upon honorably fulfilling the terms of my loan, I request the final Payoff Statement. KeyBank added a $1500 lien release / assignment fee plus a processing fee of $250 to close the loan. These fees are not addressed or apart of my GE loan. I requested they provide evidence that I had agreed to pay such fees and then got the run around.

Here is Key Bank's response, "We believe the release fees charged on the payoff statement are customary and reasonable in connection with the release documentation required for a commercial mortgage loan.

Our legal counsel follows the following process: (i) reviews the underlying recorded Mortgage and Assignment of Leases and Rents, (ii) reviews all recorded Assignments of the Mortgage and Assignments of Assignment of Leases and Rents to confirm that all prior assignments were properly recorded and lead to the ultimate lender that held the loan at payoff, (iii) prepares a release of the Mortgage and Assignment of Leases and Rents that references both documents, as well as all assignments, (iv) reviews the County UCC-1 and assignments, (v) prepares a termination of the County UCC-1 (which is a UCC-3 termination), (vi) reviews the Secretary of State UCC-1 and assignments, (vii) prepares a termination of the Secretary of State UCC-1 (which is a UCC-3 termination), (viii) submits for recording the original release of Mortgage and Assignment of Leases and Rents, the County UCC-3 Termination, and the Secretary of State UCC-3 termination, (ix) pays for the recording fees related to the recording of the release documents, (x) handles any possible recording issues to ensure that all release documents get properly recorded, and (xi) delivers to KeyBank the recorded release documents".

KeyBank has been unsuccessful in supply me the section of the signed contract stating I would be forced to pay additional fees to close my account.

      Crooks!

YOUR MONEY IS NOT SAFE HERE. My account was hacked on 9/15/2023. I was told nothing would be done until the transaction posted on the 18th. I called on 9/18/2023 and was told they had 90 days to investigate. On 12/18/2023, I contacted KeyBank. They had no information on the status of my dispute. It is 12/20/2023 and I am still out of $2035 that was federally insured. No one has even called me back. BEWARE.
