I had a checking and credit account with Huntington and their work couldn't have been worse in the last two years or so since merge with TCF. I called them at least three times last year to get a new card and it never arrived. Then, they closed my credit account due to inactivity without notifying me, resulting in my credit score dropping over 100 points. Not once did I receive a single card. Now I have closed checking account and they will not send me the funds from it. I am requesting the money from the account as well as compensation for their abysmal performance over the last year or two.Business Response

On 6/3/23 I went into the bank to retrieve funds and was denied access to ** own money. The employee ** *** said the funds weren't available. I informed her that according to the app the funds were available. She was told to call and verify the checks deposited, by another employee. ** *** called and verified that the checks cleared and proceeded to say "because of your relationship with the bank, we will go ahead and"... I interrupted and said it doesn't matter why, can you just complete ** withdrawal.
She then stated "we can't give you any money". I told her that she can't hold ** money because she didn't like ** comment (but clearly she can because she did) and I repeatedly asked for a supervisor. I called to the customer service number while waiting on the supervisor, while on the phone with customer service I met with ******** ****** the branch manager who instead of attempting to resolve the issue, attempted to escalate the issue.
She stated that the app and the customer service representative was wrong the funds were not available. She attempted to say I was yelling as I explained I was not but the situation was frustrating. I requested some money any money and she said no, and literally did not give me any of my own money.
How is this ok? Why is this legal? And is this a normal practice for Huntington, where an employee can get upset for no good justifiable reason and hold someone's money.
Please keep in mind, ** verified via phone that funds were available.
I showed both of them my phone saying the funds were available and ******** heard the Huntington customer service representative say the funds were available.
But still I was treated poorly. And then ******** smirked as I stood up to walk away. The location of the branch was **** * ******* **** ******* ** ******

I deposited a check at Huntington bank on Tuesday. The check was placed on hold and I am still awaiting funds. The site clearly states 2 to 5 days for a hold it is going on day 8. I had to miss events due to not accessing my funds.Business Response

I have been dealing with a late payment issue going on for about 1 1/2 years now. The Huntington National Bank put that I was late on my payment for a total of 60 days in a row. However, I was never late on my payment. In fact I have all of my billing statements to prove that I was never late. I have been trying to dispute this from my credit report since the beginning of 2022. I have contacted the banks customer service and they said that they would have it corrected. This is the fax number, what they told me to put in the cover page, and the case number that The Huntington National Bank gave me. I sent all of the requested information immediately.

I can't seem to get Huntington Customer Service to follow through on what they say they will do. Three weeks ago I called Huntington customer service about getting their advertised 4.07% APY Money Market without bringing in "new money". I have a substantial amount of money there and don't feel like playing the shell game moving money around to accommodate. ****** is giving 4.07% APY for their money market and I could more easily move my money from Huntington to ****** and get the same rate. I prefer to keep it at Huntington. The customer service agent transferred me to sales, and she stated that she would put in a request to change my MM rate and call me back in a few days with the answer. 2 weeks later I never received a call back. No follow through.
So I called again, and again they transferred me to sales and I spoke to ******* (not sure I spelled it right). She said there was no record of my previous call. She said she would put in a request to change the MM rate and call me back in a couple days with the answer. Again, no call back. NO FOLLOW THROUGH!
This seems to be a constant issue with Huntington. No follow through on anything. No one takes ownership. I had a similar problem 3-4 months ago with no one there following through or taking ownership of an issue to resolve it.
It seems pretty concerning to have your money in a bank that doesn't follow through on what they say they will do. How safe is my money in this type of organization?Business Response

On april 15 as directed by a teller at the down town cincinnati location some days prior, i took a check that location to be deposited. This check was an insurance check made out to myself and ge credit union. I had inquired with my bank, Huntington bank as to how do you cash such a check, since i had never done so. I was told that i just deposit the check as normal and if Huntington needed anything to clear the check from ** they would we get that information or endorsement.
On 15 April after receiving the check in the mail I had it did to the bank I want to Discover either they were closed on a Saturday, so I deposited the check in the ATM thinking it would be best, I needed to get the process started so the normal hold would clear because I was desperate for this insurance money to fix my only mode transportation and a critical part of my professional career as i drive around from location to location for my job.
I found out exactly 2 weeks later after waiting for Huntington , why the check hadn’t cleared yet ;that I was given the wrong information and that I should not have cashed the check that way I should’ve taken the check to ** not Huntington
today’s date is May 21 and I have still yet to receive the money from this insurance check Huntington wi cash the check and then put it on hold so the insurance company will not
Rewrite the check as the money has already been deducted from their accounts. GE wants to check himself to then cut me my portion to fix my car since now I have fallen behind on my payments because of the financial situation that I am in now because of this mistake Huntington refuses to do anything with the money at allAnd I can’t get a resolution to the situation and it’s literally destroying my life.
Huntington has no solutions for this mistake but they’re the ones with the money they have to release it to somebody so that I can get it to fix my car, also HB locked my account so i cant even view my account transactions

I received a life insurance check from my mother's death from *** **** **** ********* company. I deposited the check and when the funds were posted available sent money to my brother and paid some bills. Then a few minutes later the check was pulled from my account and my account went into the negative 1500$. I called the bank and was told the fraud department said the check was fraudulent and pulled it but would not give a reason, I asked to speak to that department and was told they don't speak to customers over the phone. I explained the check was not fraudulent and that they needed to do something because now I'm negative all this money I don't have. They were unable to give me a reason or help in any way. I called *** **** **** and informed them of al of this. How they determine a check from a major company is fraudulent I don't understand. But to make funds available and then pull them makes no sense and has caused even more distress to an already difficult time .Business Response

I created a new business account with Huntington Bank Online. I deposited a check made to my business and my business account was deemed fraud even though the funds were taken out of my client’s account. Now Huntington won’t release my money. The other bank is not able to give me a notarized statement and I am now stuck and without MY money that I worked hard for. I did not committed fraud. Huntington shouldn’t be able to hold money from a check they already cashed. I get different response from Costumer Service each time. I don’t see any progress being made, it’s been 11 business days, 13 days that I have to put my needs on hold. It shouldn’t be this hard. I only opened my business account at Huntington because a new bank is being built a few blocks from my house. Bad experience so far, would’ve been convenient for my family.Business Response

This is a formal complaint against Huntington Bank. After nearly 1 month of no resolution, I am seeking help,
On February 26, 2023 I deposited (36) $50 bills through Huntington's ATM machine located at **** **** ******* ***** ******* ** *****. ATM #HB5671. The machine took the money and proceeded to count the cash and then an error occurred. The ATM machine kept the money, DID NOT provide a receipt and the ATM screen said a failure had occurred, please contact your financial institution. I have called Huntington Bank and they have assigned a case number to the incident. Case number is 19510511. I have called on multiple occasions as to the status of the resolution and no CSR has provided any type of update. I have contacted the local Byron Center Huntingon Branch manager, Nidal Kanaan for assistance and still no progress. I have attached a deposit slip that was completed on the same day, minutes before the (36) $50 bill error occurred along with two letters received from Huntington Bank along with a bill of sale from a vehicle as showing how where that quantity of money came from. Huntington Bank will not contact the 3rd party vendor which services the ATM machine nor will they look at the video footage. I have two eyewitnesses that were with me at the time of this incident.
Huntington owes me a deposit of $1,800 plus maximum penalties possible, enforceable by law. Additionally, letters of this incident have been reported to Michigan's State Attorney General's Office, Federal Reserve and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on this matter. Further legal action will be taken if Huntington does not act. Huntington has lacked the professionalism in this case.Business Response

On March 29th 2023 $505.64 for a currency exchange was erroneously deducted from our Bank Account instead of the correct customer, We called our Lewis Center Huntington and talked to the bank manager *********. She investigated and learned that it happened at the 2055 Polaris Parkway branch and they would have to take care of it. We went in person to the branch and called and in a month have never been able to get them to speak to us or call us back. We have called their customer service line multiple times and opened multiple tickets including ticket# **************. We were even told on Saturday April 29th by a manager ***** that our ticket had been resolved and she would give us a call on Monday when the branch was open to confirm we got our money back.
