I have been trying to close a checking and savings account for more than 4 mths from Huntington Bank. I have been told after depositing more money that everything would be taken care of, another mth another issue. After speaking to more than a half dozen CSR and being told by all of them that the action I was taken would in turn settle everything. More than 4 mths have gone by charges are coming out of this account still that I have to dispute for a product I don't have, the accounts are still open and they have turned in nonpayment to the credit bureaus which is ridiculous as I was told countless times that everything was taken care of month after month. This had caused issue with buying a house and planning my wedding. They have drained my funds and stole my life away the past 4+ mths. Never ever would I send my worst enemy to this fire and brimstone establishment.Business Response

The business committed to a working customer relationship. The complaint is that this bank which shows security has ripped me off by robbing my account of its funds. I held an estate account money market account asterisk checking account and savings
account. The relationship between bank and I went sour I was ask to remove cash given a check to deposit else where only to have a problem therefore I re deposit check that's when funds took a turn for the worst I seen a tremendous decrease in the amount that account held 183, 466.97 from my aunts KPMG account. I believe that ******* ****** and ******* ******** of huntington bank help themselves to my account a year later I have $0. I have tried to dispute and resolve issue to no prevail. On July 10, 2022, someone withdrew $500 from my checking account at the Beechwold branch of Huntington National Bank. I have not gotten a consistent answer on whether it was a withdrawal or a check; in any case, it was done by someone unknown and without any identification. I have been trying to resolve this with several members of Huntington Bank and have received various stories, such as that the appropriate forms filed to report this matter were either non-existent or wrong, that $500 would be put into my account, that a certified check for $500 would be mailed to me. None of these procedures have occurred, and I am still out $500. I do not know how to proceed from here because I get different stories from different personnel. My physical bank/debit card was used for transactions that I DID NOT AUTHORIZE. I filed 2 disputes with the bank and keep getting the same response which is: The card was used after the noted unauthorized charges so it's not a valid dispute. I do 99% of my transactions via online ex: Uber and playstaion. My card is saved in my cellphone so NO CARD is needed. I didn't authorize the other charges and I cannot get them to understand that the charges I disputed are NOT mines and yes I did used my card NUMBER via the internet (uber) before, during and after my card was misplaced and/or stolen but the stated charges are not mines.Business Response

I sent a cashier's check #********** in the amount of $26,000 to ****** ******, on August 27, 2022. ******* then deposited the check into his account at Huntington Stoney Island Ave. Chicago Illinois 60649. I have called the Chicago branch of Huntington Bank several times, September 9, 16 17, 21, 22 and 24, only to be told the check is on hold and is awaiting verification from my bank. I went to my bank Hawaii USA FCU and asked about the verification process and was told that normally Huntington bank would call Hawaii USA FCU for verification.
I was told by Huntington bank that the normal hold is 5 business days, when I spoke to them it was already 11 business days, they just told me they are waiting verification. On September 28, 2022, I called Huntington Bank's main customer service line ************** only to be told I would have to come into the branch in Chicago, I got upset and told the clerk that I was in Hawaii and couldn't come into the branch, he told me the same thing I have to come into their branch. I then asked to speak to his manager and waited 10 minutes before the phone was disconnected on their side.
I have tried numerous times to contact Huntington Bank several times and have yet to get a satisfactory answer from Huntington Bank.

Credit Line in the name of ***** ****** (deceased August, 2020) I am the executor of her estate. All accounts were to be closed immediately and we received a bill for $120.00 in October 2021. She called that department and said fees would be waived and account would be closed in 3 business days. I just received another bill for $60.00 and the account is still open. The following complaint concerns Huntington Bank. On 9/23/22 the put a freeze on my business checking account. The reason for the freeze was some type of issue 2 checks I deposited. Huntington Bank was never specific about what the issue was with the check. Both of the checks were issued from VIP clients and vendors. It was discovered that both checks had actually cleared the banks they were issued by on 9/26/22.
They froze my entire checking account on 9/23/22, with no explanation as to why.
Dealing with Huntington is a practice in futility. No one there is able to provide definitive answers, or instructions on how to proceed in re-establishing our account. We were told over and over again the account would be un frozen in 24-48 hours, this has never happened. We continue to spend hours dealing with the branch managers, the call centers and the employees. In the meantime our checks have bounced, including a payroll.
Our reputation with our vendors and employees has been jeopardized.
This type of conduct by a bank is completely unprofessional, and unethical.
Are banks allowed to freeze accounts like this?Business Response

Early August I deposited a $21k check via the ATM machine. On Sept 8 I visited the branch and requested the affidavit to have the check returned. The bank specialist still gave me the wrong form. A banker called me in mid September and verified the incorrect form was given to me. The banker, ******* *******, that gave me the form even wrote a note on a sticky note and I photocopied it and forwarded it to the roofing contracting company who the check is also payable to. There were several occasions I called the bank and left messages to no avail. The bank put my account on hold and now my account is closed. I'm requesting the corporate office to review my bank account to confirm there has never been any fraud activity, reopen an account and the check needs to be returned.
On 10/11/2022 myself and the signer for the contract company went to my branch and was told by the BRANCH MANAGER our only option was to have the check cancelled. HOW CAN THE CHECK BE CANCELLED IF IT'S ALREADY CASHED! Also, your bank should not be requesting the contactor "owner" to come to the bank, who lives OUT OF STATE!Business Response

Huntington Bank committed gross negligence and lack of due diligence with my account. I am seeking the Bank to fix my credit report. Following its merger with my original lender TCF Bank, Huntington Bank mismanaged my account. My calls to Huntington Bank confirmed:
· To date, Huntington Bank has never called me at my primary contact number ************, which has been my phone number for roughly two decades. In October 2022, Huntington Bank representatives confirmed it never used my primary number - proving lack of due diligence. Huntington Bank’s representatives confirmed (and I documented those conversations) that ************ is my primary number – and it has never been called.
· Importantly, TCF Bank had successfully reached me at ************ throughout our entire relationship, including in January 2021. There is no excuse for Huntington to try to reach me at a different number.
· I reached out to Huntington Bank – not the other way around. Huntington Bank confirmed it’s error of calling an old work number that was retired for years. This is a complete failure of Huntington Bank to utilize the same information on file with TCF Bank. It shows a systematic breakdown of client information being transferred during the merger process.
· I have been informed by numerous Huntington Bank representatives that the merger caused a widespread issue of missed payments – and my credit would be fixed.
· Huntington Bank confirmed this was a common problem with the bank’s merger and credit reports were being fixed, yet mine was not.
· I have been repeatedly informed from your representatives that no borrowers had credit scores impacted from the merger. Specifically, it was stated to the Bank would conduct no negative credit reporting for several months following the merger. However, I had negative credit reporting including as early as October, November, and a delayed payment reported in December.Business Response
