1 starCommunity Bank is charging me over $900 on an account I never had access to due to their errors. They had the wrong email and home address on file, even though I’ve lived at the same address for over 12 years and the furniture associated with the account was delivered to that same home.
When I requested access to my account, they were unable to verify or even provide the information they had on file. Despite multiple attempts, I was never able to access or manage this account online.
Now, as a single mother of two, I’m being unfairly held responsible for interest and charges on an account I was never given access to. This situation is not only unjust it’s the result of a failure on their end to maintain accurate contact information and provide proper account access. I have paid the account balance in full and called to see if they can waived the interest since I had no info on the promotion or account since I was basically denied access to my account. WISH THEY WOULD JUST MAKE IT RIGHT.Review fromPatricia C

1 starI have never had such a horrible experience dealing with a business (Ann Taylor Loft) who uses Comenity Bank for their account/management. I have had nothing but frustration and disregard for a small item I purchased, that briefly, accumulated late fees and one being a mix up with a custormer support person in the store, so the late fees accumulated for a small item, priced at $21.00 they are now asking me to pay $82.99, all a host of bogus fees including late fees. I asked to CLOSE my account and they would not. I have written a Certified Letter to the company after no ability to speak with an intelligent person and also noted I would be traveling on reseach in Japan the last month but they continued to call me while in Japan, for this amount, and with automated AI team. I have excellent credit and have never had any issues before with paying bills on time. They are total scammers, and should be stopped.Review fromJessica K

1 starIf your credit card is bought out by this company just go ahead and close the account. I was paying my card in full every month and still was being charged interest and didn't understand why. I was locked out of my account for months before I noticed the charges because they prompt you at the top of the page to use a quick pay option with out needing to log in. I had to call customer service every time in order to access the account. Once I did, I noticed unauthorized charges that surely I had been paying interest on for months. They were charging me interest by splitting the month into the back half of one month into first half of next month. Therefore, I wasn't paying in full for the first half of the month ever. Again, I am unaware of this because I cannot access my account without calling customer service. Resetting the password via computer or phone did not work. So I requested paper statements to better manage the account. And again, the new card is immediately compromised. ( I had requested account closure the first time it was compromised but they simply sent a new card and number). The kicker was raising the apr from 9.99% to 21% because my credit score was 801. WHAT? This was my oldest account and I had to close it. What a draining and disappointing experience.Review fromRandy H

1 starI applied for this card through *********** I'm sure that I have paid the principal amount 2 times over with all of the fees and interest, paid on time every month, just recently fell on hard times and unemployed, for my bill and have been charged late fees, my balance has gone up 100 dollars, and my credit score has been dinged 180 points! Worst financial institution ever!Review fromLoretha Ann P

1 starSubmission of online payments are not executed. I received email confirmation that I paid my last statement in full, and on their website it showed I had a $0 balance for April 2025 payment. That's the last time I paid the monthly statement in full (as every month prior on time) because I have not purchased or charged anything else at Academy Sports. June 2025 the bank claims I owe $70+ dollars. The website shows no details of why or how. There are no statements with dates available on the website or sent by email. When I called in, I was given the run-around by someone who can hardly speak English. I paid the complete balance today and closed my account. I demanded that my bank account numbers (checking and debit) be removed from their system. The foreign agent said that I would have to submit a written request for that, which I am doing ************** NOT TRUST THE ACADEMY SPORTS CREDIT CARD OR COMENITY BANK!!!!Review fromMichelle A

1 starI bought a computer from ** in December which was supposed to be interest free for 6 months. I went to my vacation home in December and stayed there for 3 months. During that time HP credit mailed me a credit card to my regular home address as well as billing. They didnt email me anything. I kept waiting for a statement or something from them and did not receive anything. In January I called ** because I felt like a payment was due. They told me they would not be able to help me because I didnt have my credit card number or a statement. I explained to them I was not at my home address and at my vacation home. At that time they would not even give me my account number. I told them I wouldnt be at that address until March. I kept making repeated calls to them because late fees were adding and they would not give me an account number to pay. I asked to speak with a Supervisor and they finally in February gave me my account number and wanted late payments which I refused. In March when I got back to my home I paid in full and closed account. They continued to send late payments even though I was told in March to pay in full and my account would be closed with a zero balance They said when I paid that I paid late in March so I received more late fees. I have spent hours upon hours trying to stop them from ruining my credit and continue paying these late fees. I have paid off this balance of late fees that I have apparently accrued since March when I paid off the balance and closed this account. I have now made more late payments and they have told me as of June 22nd that my account is closed and I again have a zero balance. They said this in March as well. I have a zero balance and my account is closed. This is a fraudulent company.Review fromJose S

1 starI would like to give them no star if possible. Comenity bank is a joke very questionable bank I spoke to their costumer service multiple times regarding my balance statement of $12.77 that they claim they didnt receive the payment on time for which they added a late fee (now became $28.09) but my bank record indicate the payment was sent 5 days before the due date. They told me that its ok no prob they will waive the $28.09 but make sure I cancel the Assure which I did right away. A month later to my surprise I received another balance statement again from Comenity bank now for $43.41 and no purchase was made. I spoke to their costumer service again and explained my situation and told them I should not get any balance at all but I was told everything got reversed and added more late fees and I need to pay them on time to avoid late fees. I told them that it was already waived and I even requested for them to check the record of my original conversation with them but he insisted that I pay the $43.41 on time. How do you fight this kind of scam if I ignore it the balance statement keep going up with the added late fees and for this little amount it will ruin my excellent credit rating I just decided to pay them the amount of $43.41 which I dont really owe them but I will just take my loss and charge it to my bad experience and I have noticed and read they have such bad reviews and it really validates my issue with them. I feel sorry for other customers had bigger issues compared to mine. Its a shame for such company to be this low.Review fromAbigail S

1 star4/10/25 opened charge account, 5/1/25 spoke w/***** @Comenity requested my total monthly balance due be taken from my checking account and gave all info. Received email my auto pay would begin on 5/21/25. 5/28/25 received email payment of $52 due 5/21. 5/30/25 spoke ******** she advised Auto Pay would not begin until 6/21 and my balance was $432.01 even though account shows $389.23. I advised I wanted her to take the full balance out of my bank account that day which she did providing me Confirmation #X3065.5/31/25 received Thank you for payment of $430.01 which now included $9.78 interest and $30 late fee. I don't recall ever having a late fee on any of my credit card accounts.6/13/25 shopped at ******'s purchasing $457.82 and told my card was rejected for a balance of $52 due 6/21 for a total of $454.01. A store manager tried to resolve this with Comenity Bank via phone without success.6/16/25 spoke w/*** in ************* who advised payment that was to come from my account did not go through & no one had contacted me regarding any problems. I request that she take the full payment from my debit ******** would cancel this card. She advised this payer could take 3-5 days to clear. She did remove the $30 late fee. What a way to do business! I am upset that this could effect my credit rating. I did thank *** for her assistance as she was the first one to remove my issue after two months. I would like others to be aware of how this bank does business as it effects dealing with ******'s.
