I recently applied for a credit card for ********* via Comenity Capital Bank. My application was not able to be completed at the register so I went home and applied online on the ********* website. Once again a message came through saying the application could not be completed. I received a letter in the mail from the Comenity saying that they were unable to approve my application. They listed the reasons, that they say they received from ********. Now I have an account with ******** that monitors my credit. Note the comparisons:
Comenity Bank said my credit score was 789 as of Jan 30 - My credit score is 822 as of Feb 3, 2023. Bank said No recent real estate secured loans - We have an Equity Loan on our home we took out a year or so ago. Bank said Balances on personal installment accts are too high compared to loan amts - Huh, how can the balances be higher then the loan amounts. Bank
said number of inquiries were a factor in determining score - According to my ******** we've had only 3 hard inquiries in last 18 months; one being Comenity. Bank said avg. credit limit on open bankcards is too low - My combined limits are around $37,000; nine cards. I don't need higher limits. We are currently using about 1% of our available credit, so that's a bad thing? They say their info came from ******** in ***** **. My ******** acct. is located in ***** ***
How can there be different info? After reading all the other complaints on this bank, I think I'll pass on this ********* Credit Card.

For almost five years I have been disputing an account with Comenity bank/******* in which I never opened and/or had. Comenity bank/******* sold the account to a third party collector in which the third party collector tried to sue me until my attorney got involved. Once my attorney notified the third party collection attorney SEVERAL times asking for the summons and complaint (in which the third party attorney never gave to my attorney) this case was dismissed
The third party collection attorney decided not to pursue this erroneous debt. I want this off my credit report immediately!
Clearly this company is hard up for money

"I recently had an experience with ******* ********s, a subsidiary of Comenity Bank, that I would like to share. I paid off my loan in full last fall, but was shocked to find that they charged me twice for the same transaction. To make matters worse, they charged me a $25 fee to unwind the duplicate payment. I reluctantly paid the fee just to be done with them, but it took them 20 days to cash my check, which caused me to incur another late fee. I then paid that fee over the phone, only to have them charge me yet another $25 fee and cancel my automatic payment through the portal, which resulted in additional fees. In my opinion, this bank is the worst and most fraudulent I have ever dealt with. I am now considering reporting them to the attorney general as I believe I am not the only one being taken advantage of. Avoid ******* ********* and Comenity Bank at all costs."

I closed my account and hated the harassment calls. I was late in the month of December due to two deaths and life situation. I called and explained, sent the payment as soon as I was able and after the payment went out, I received numerous (10) calls from Comenity employees within a two hour period. Some said unknown caller however when I answered, or called back, they said Comenity Bank. This was done over a two day period interrupting my work. Then I called to cancel today and the automated machine cancelled with no payoff. I asked to speak to an associate and got a person but could not hear her because someone was talking and laughing loudly in the back. I told her I could not hear and she said oh-sorry but the loud talking continued (they both laughed). I told her I felt harassed by the number of calls and wanted to send in a complaint, she said-we do not harass people and hung up. I loved the clothing and service of ******* but the repeated calls and rude behavior was not worth the product. Now, I will just buy in store and they can work on their customer service at Comenity. Shame on you for harassing people and rude service!

I bought a pair of tennis shoes from Woman Within using my Comenity Bank credit card for $38.54. I had moved from IL to NE and due to the address change through the post office did not receive the bill on time. When I received the bill, I paid the $38.54. Comenity Bank started harassing me with phone calls on my cell phone for 3 months every 3 days about late fees and interest.
Yesterday, I called and asked for a Supervisor. He was very scripted saying that I should have informed Comenity before I left Chicago that I moved with a change of address! As if I had any idea when I was going to get their statement!!
He was such an idiot, saying what do you want me to do again and again. Finally,
I said if you aren’t willing to take off the $70
charges…what is one late fee? He said it was $36.00. Basically another pair of tennis shoes to get rid of Comenity. I paid the $36.00 outrageous fee, have filed a report with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office because they are based in Columbus, OH and will close the account as soon as the check goes through. Stay clear of all retail credit cards that use Comenity Bank!

I am here to provide a *** for anyone looking to use this bank’s services. I have never ever encountered a more dysfunctional organization. After 1.5h speaking with representatives and supervisors, they are unable to reason about a credit application for which they couldn’t verify identity but are not willing to allow me to verify identity either. They keep transferring people in a system that they blamed for having changed options that they do not know what they are. I have never seen anything like this before. Horrific customer services, do NOT use their services!

In late 2022 the bank issuing/servicing my AAA credit card was changed to Comenity Capital Bank. According to all the correspondence from Comenity the change would take place October 1 and be seamless with new cards to be sent by US mail. No new cards ever arrived despite all the previous letters about the change. I also started receiving emails from Comenity urging me to SPEND with my new card. Mid-Oct I called customer service, explained about no new cards and was assured the existing account would be closed and new cards sent within 2 weeks. A month later after a less smooth conversation with customer service (lack of understanding English by the rep and being read standard language), new cards were again promised. Again, they never arrived although a letter did arrive saying the account would be closed and I owed $X which had been paid months before. Another call to customer service which was actually very satisfying with the owed balance being corrected and new cards again promised. A month later having never received new cards I'd finally had enough and called customer service to close the account. A letter did arrive confirming that it would be closed and four credit rating entities informed. Through all of this emails urging use of the account continued to arrive. So Comenity obviously had our correct email and US mail address. Since we live rurally, we have a US post office box in town so I seriously doubt that the new cards were stolen 3 times. From my experience Comenity is not a very good company for something as important as financial security. My 'star rating' for Comenity is higher than I feel it should be since there is no way to give them a zero.

Company failed to refund a large amount of money for over payment, hang up on me during phone call after multiple phone calls requesting refund with a failure to resolve debt.
I would like to report this company for fraud and warn others to NOT use Comenity Capital Bank// Alphaeon Credit.

I was told by the collections department that our calls would be monitored, the person made a deal with me that if I paid that day my balance would go to zero and the rest would be credited. I pay$66 for an overdue membership fee of $20 that day but had to call back on Monday to make sure that my balance was $0 to which I did and the person who answered told me that I needed to give it a couple of days for it to reflect so I did, but the received a higher balance than $0. Called back and was transferred 7 times before I can actually talk to the collections department supervisor (1hr later from my 1st call) who told me that they could override what the person who said I would be credited and be given $0 said because were not the supervisor. I said she had the supervisor's approval. I said that since they record everything to go back to the transcript of the call and listen to what we spoke about and that she clearly said I would have a $0. She said that they don't have access to that, and they can just override anything that was said. All of this has been recorded (supposedly) and I have proof of the number of times I was transferred and hangup on so that they can get away with charging fees and fees for a $20 membership that was never used. That is scam because in other places they prevent you from using your membership until you pay the balance then you can start using it again. But Comenity just wants to keep charging you more and more.
