I have a gift card that was purchased in December for $150.00. There is no expiration date on it. I went to use it today (March 3rd), and I was told it can no longer be used as of February 28th. They have $150.00 of my money, and I want it back.
There are hundreds of online posts of people who have also been ripped off. This can't be legal! They took our money and have given nothing in return.
I would like to formally and vehemently protest this blatant act of thievery.

      Dear *****,

We sincerely apologize for any frustration this situation may have caused. Following a comprehensive sale process and auction, GA Group together with the Prepetition Term Loan Agent, was selected as having the winning bid to acquire substantially all of JOANN’s assets. Subject to court approval of the transaction, the winning bidders plan to wind-down ongoing operations and conduct going-out-of-business sales at all JOANN locations.

We are committed to working constructively with the winning bidder to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the negative impact on all JOANN Team Members, vendors, customers and communities. We expect to begin, or in some cases continue, going-out-of-business sales at all locations immediately.
Due to these changes, the redemption of JOANN gift cards, discounts, coupons, and price matching have been suspended. We truly wish we could assist further with this matter, but you can file a claim for reimbursement through the following website: ***********************************************

      Sincerely,

On Thursday, February 27th around the hour of 9 am my husband went to the Joann's Fabric store to surprise me with a purchase of a new Cricut Maker 3. The item was on the shelf for 319.00 with a sign underneath claiming 20% off Cricut items. My husband took the ticket for the item to the front table to purchase it. Upon purchasing her was charged 459.03 (439.00 cost of item and 25.74 state tax and 4.29 city tax). On my call home from work I asked him why it was so expensive because I was just at Joann's the other day and it was no where near that price. I asked him if he had purchased a bundle and he said the item was in a cardboard box and he was unsure. When I got home I opened the box and noticed it was just the machine. My husband immediately called the store and checked with the store to see if the error could be fixed. He mentioned to the lady on the phone that he was aware there was a no refund policy and that he did not want to return the item he just wanted to be credited the over charge on the item. The store employee said there was nothing that could be done. My husband then called the head office for Joann's and they said because the purchase was in store and not online there was nothing they could do because they did not have access to individual stores sales. I then went in person on Saturday, March 1st to try and discuss this with someone in person, emphasizing I was not looking for a return but a resolution to the extreme difference in what I was charged over what the item was advertised as, and the employee told me she didn't know and I'd have to talk to a manager before she went back to working. I never had a manager come to speak to me about the situation.

I am rejecting this response because:

I was not price matching or looking for a online price to be honored in store.  I am upset that in-store it was listed for the price of 319 and my husband was charged 429 for the product.  I feel that this is being lost in my concern, although I have provided both the image of the item priced in store and the price I was charged on the receipt.  I know that nothing is going to  happen as a result of my complaint because my concern seems to not be heard for what it is, plus with going out of business I know you are trying to get as much money as you can before doors close.  I just want you to know I am very disappointed with this entire situation and want it on record that this is how a loyal costumer is treated.

JoAnn is going out of business, and in all of the communications about store closing there was NOTHING said about gift cards... After visiting the store today (03/03/2025) I was informed they stopped taking them Friday 02/28/2025.
I have $108.60 in gift cards. I would like to use them or get the money. Realizing they are closing their stores, the money would be spent there.

I went into shop during the liquidation sale. I purchase several sewing patterns at 30% off. When I got home - I went online to see what other patterns were available. This was 2/24/2025. The pattern page referenced that all in store patterns were $1.99 - 4.99 and that Vogue patterns were $4.99 - 5.99. I immediately tried to phone the store as I was charged at least $10-15 more than that. The phone rang once and then disconnected. I tried to reach out to corporate and to date (3/3/2025) my email has yet to be responded to. I went online today just to see what the page currently says and it has been deleted. Such a disappointment.

I am rejecting this response because:
The only way to buy patterns was in the store - they were not available for purchase online.  Your website specifically directed people to go into a store - it did not specify whether is was to be "regular store" or a "liquidating store".

I received two gift cards for Christmas. Both cards were for $50 each totaling $100 I just only heard about the stores closing a few days ago so . I went online to see when they would be closing, and there was no information as to that so I went To Joannes today, March 2 to use the cards before they closed. I shopped around filled my cart with over $200 of merchandise and proceeded to the counter The clerk was almost done, ringing me up when she seen my gift cards and said that they were NO LONGER TAKING THEM I asked how was I supposed to know that, I just received the cards at Christmas? I had no idea they were even closing. I asked how was I supposed to know and she said they announced it on their Joanns app? Well, I dont have their app but I do receive emails from them regularly and never once did they say they would not be accepting gift cards after February ******************************************** I want to know how they can get away with that. The store is still open. They should have to honor my gift cards. My son purchased them with cash money. I should be able to get his moneys worth for as long as the Store is still open I just dont understand or think it is right thank you

I purchased a gift card in the amount of $100 for my granddaughters birthday gift. She has used the card and it has a BALANCE of $44.72.

We attempted to use the gift card Saturday 3/1/2025. We were told Joann's is no longer accepting gift cards. There has been NOT a single thing in the news OR the Joann website that says they are no longer accepted or a date.

We waited in line forever to use the card. There are signs all over the store saying CASH only.. NOT ANYTHING about Gift Cards not accepted.

I have called the corporate number to speak to someone and the customer service number and it just puts you on hold forever. No one ever came to the phone. I called on a Monday at about 1:00pm.

I would like a refund of the $44.72 since it can't be used in the store and NOT online either. The number of the gift card is listed under the Account Number on this page.

This is stealing money from customers as I have read other complaints on the BBB website of the same problem.

I went to the local Joann's store on 3/1/2025 to use my gift cards that I received for Christmas. Had $200.00 worth of fabric cut and was headed to the check out counter only to be told that I could not use my $140.00 worth of gift cards for my purchase. The store manager said the cut off was 2/28/2025. These cards were purchased in good faith from this store, they have been paid cash up from and now they are they are essentially STEALING this money from people. I do not understand why all of these gift cards are not being honored. What I have read on social media and other places, they collected a lot of money from a lot of people that purchased gift cards and are not honoring any of them. STEALING

I have over $90 in gift cards for JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts. When I went to use them online yesterday, they would not allow me to use them. I then went to the actual store this morning to spend them and they told me the last day to use the gift cards was yesterday (2/28). I never received an email or information saying yesterday was the last day to use any gift cards. Every day I receive emails from them about other things.I either want my money back, or I want to be able to use the money on the gift cards.

Due to these changes, the redemption of JOANN gift cards, discounts, coupons, and price matching have been suspended. We truly wish we could assist further with this matter, but you can file a claim for reimbursement through the following website: ****************************************************************

      Sincerely,

      JOANN

BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
