In June I approved patio enclosures to work on my patio deck. The work was not completed to my satisfaction. Several windows and screens were not installed properly. I set up an appointment for workman to fix the problems. The biggest problem is with the door I contacted them numerous times. Once they enter my property without my being at home. Left me a message that the door was fixed; it was not. It continued to slam shut. Two workman came and changed the piston which had a hole in it. They did fix the slamming but now the door does not close securely. I need some assistance on convincing these workman that this door has not been installed correctly. They tell me there is nothing they can do.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/26/2024

We understand your concerns about the storm door's operation and your desire for it to close without slamming. Our team has made multiple adjustments to address this issue, but as with any storm door, factors like air pressure, open windows or doors, and temperature changes can affect its performance. Unfortunately, these natural variations, along with the door's design, limit the extent of adjustments we can make. Thank you.

We signed papers for the porch back in August, 2021. We were required to pay in full by the fall yet no work began. An outlay of 6 figures is a lot of money out especially if work realistically would not begin until the spring of 2022, but we paid in full. Here is a log of everything that went wrong since:- In an effort to bring the footings to requirements the workers put a huge crack in our concrete patio and the fix was sloppy and inadequate - The electrical work was done completely WRONG. Conduit was left all across the beautiful ceiling exposed. After a lot of complaining that was eventually resolved.- Finishing work was awful, i.e. sloppy caulking, leaking roof...eventually resolved. Several windows did not open/shut smoothly.- Our yard was left completely dug up with big pieces of concrete, metal, scraps etc. Ruined our shrubbery. After much complaining that was finally cleaned up, 6 months later - Inadequate framing work. Over winter 2023 we noticed that the frame was "sagging". When pushed it bowed in and out. Resolved in summer 2024.-Spring and summer 2024 laminate wood floor started forming 3/4" gaps between slats. Discovered leaking under the frame between 2x4's and concrete seeping under floor. And now when it rains water is leaking down the lower wall and pooling on the flashing. Explains why the floor is ruined.Apparently our issue is being "discussed" but we have no answers or no commitments for what and when it will be repaired. Now trying to enjoy our porch over the holidays and still have an inadequate product 3-1/2 years later and no end in sight. Plus our floor is ruined. This has been the worst experience ever and we are so distraught that we would like to tear it all down and file for a full refund and other damages....suffering, disappointment and so MUCH of our valuable time fighting through this.

I am rejecting this response because I am not willing to close the case until the problems are resolved and we have a satisfactory product/outcome. I appreciate that a service call has indeed been scheduled I am still awaiting a list of what the work plan is that will fix the problem.  So weve made a little progress here in that our concerns have been recognized but again, until the work is actually under way I am not willing to accept the response in full.  Thank you for at least beginning the efforts.

GDI violated their contact with us in 2022 with unprofessional ,sporadic service, poor communication, unskilled labor resulting in mistakes regarding installation of doorways and mismatched parts on 2 enclosed patios for front and back decks. After months of delays and very few full workdays provided to complete our contracted agreements, we sent an email to the supervisor of the local office of GD. He responded with an apology and requested his company to send inspectors out to asses the jobs item and rectify the issues. Workers were ordered to finish both porches, fix the reversed piece, and clean up the litter and nails left all over our lots before they left. The company offered to cut us a refund check as an apology for what we endured over the course of this mismanaged debacle. I received a voicemail om my cellphone from a person I never met, claiming she is collecting $ 13,000 for a delinquent payment left unpaid from 2022. Her phone us untraceable, and she has threatened me with court proceedings if this bogus demand is not rectified. I am outraged. We were gracious enough to accept their settlement and walk away ,and Now, 2 years later someone claiming to be an employee of Great Day is telling me I owe then $13,000? I see on their website feedback that I am not the only customer who has experience with this grift. They used to carry a 4 star rating and a trustworthy reputation. I guess I was wrong about trusting any of the salespeople or Workers who I allowed into my home. Shame on them!

We understand your frustration regarding this situation, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify. The balance of $13,651.57 is due as the room has been installed, and the discrepancy stems from an accounting reversal that occurred by GreenSky. While we acknowledge the delay in addressing this, we’ve made multiple attempts to explain the situation and resolve it directly. We also encourage you to call GreenSky to verify this. Since the balance remains outstanding, we’ve moved forward with the necessary legal steps to address this matter. We remain open to working with you toward a resolution and hope for a fair outcome. Thank you.

Had new windows installed in January, discover and notified company on june 22, 2024 that the windows do not come out as expected. They said someone would come take a look, that did not happen. Contacted again on July 8, this time they said they are looking onto if it was a manufacturing problem. They called me back July 10 to say they are working on it and would let me know by July 19. They did not. I contacted again on July 21 and July 29. Finally called back to schedule a tech to come out on August 7. The installer came and said yes you need all new sashes. The windows would not come out. August 27 I contacted again because I had not heard anything, they said on August 28 they said they checked and are looking at early October to come in. Early October came and went, I called again this time they said they don’t know why the hold up should be a couple more weeks. Still no sashes that fit so I decided to file the complaint. I also reached out 3 times with the online contact from from the great day website.

Since june of 2024 patio enclosure and great day improvement has been under contract to enclose our back porch, since then they have given us at least three different start times. But no work has been done. They have gotten over 14,000 dollars in my name and I am receiving bills to pay for work that hasn’t been done. I have tried unsuccessfully to contact great day improvement but no one answered the phone or returns my voicemail. I am not prepared to pay 24,000 dollars for work that has not been started or completed. After reading some reviews from past customers I ‘m not sure that i would be willing to trust them to do quality work

[[BBB transcription via mail, see attachments]] Once the materials were ordered + received (about 6 weeks from the contract date(which was expected) the renovation of our patio began. About 2 weeks later they were done with the exception of the following issues: #1. The air conditioner needs to be hooked up to a power source. this took over a month to complete if not longer. #2. the floor creaks. After numerous visits by owner or more of their employees. This still has not been totally solved yet. #3. The new door does not open completely and opens the wrong way anyway. #4 My worse complaint is that I am concerned is when it rains water comes from under the door, Not solved as of today. This project has been one recurring headache. We are very disappointed with Patio Enclosures.

The contract was created in May 2024. It has been almost 6 months and the sunroom is still incomplete. This renovation is costing over $25,000 which I having been paying the last 3 months. The biggest disappointment and complaint is length of the job and the lack of communication. From the start, I have been calling and speaking to from them and they have yet to respond. I have also contacted their corporate office. They told me someone would contact me within 48 hours. I never heard back from anyone. I guess this issue starts from the top. My family’s stress, time, and effort should account for something here. I hold this company accountable for its lack of professionalism, and I deserve some compensation. They have no problems charging and asking for payments in a timely manner. The job should have been completed in a timely manner. I want to hear from someone in charge who can get this without any further delay. Thank you.

We originally purchased windows from Stanek with a lifetime warranty in 2000; that particular location went out of business and this current location took over the contract, but will not honor the warranty. We have 2 windows in need of repair. After numerous phone calls, they finally sent out a service person who said they would have to see if they could find the parts needed as the windows are no longer made. Around Aug 26, 2024 received a message that they found the parts. We have been trying to reach them ever since - no response to our phone call messages, texts, or emails. We have left 2 messages with the corporate office in *********, but to no avail. We would like the windows repaired and the warranty honored now and for future repairs. Company also goes by Great Day Improvements.

This is a follow up correspondence to my 10/15/2024 complaint for Patio Enclosures/Great Day Improvements (GDI), Las Vegas for work to be done at ***** ********* ***. We have uploaded an agreement that was signed on 10/23/2024 and a follow up letter from GDI on 10/24/2024. This matter is still to be fully settled, but GDI did require that we do not post any negative reviews about their company and we would like to honor that. 6/6/24, we met with **** ******** to discuss building a patio enclosure. He said they could build on our existing deck and wrote up a contract. We said only Deal Breaker would be if they could not finish project before Nov. He said no problem, install would be August or beginning of Sept. . Employee, **** came out to measure, then we heard nothing. We called our contact, *******. She said he did measure. When CADS were ordered, she would call us. We heard nothing again. Was told she had retired and **** had left the company. . 8/5/24, **** ****** came to remeasure. Called later and asked about deck supporting post and if they were cemented in. We said 4X4, no cement. We were asked to remove part of decking and send pictures, which we did. We did not question removing decking and railings, because per contract, we would receive $300 back for doing so. .9/2/24, **** ******** asked about proceeding without their permit. We said, no, not without their required permit. He said for an additional $8700, they would install proper supports in cement. We said too costly. . 9/23/24, **** said they could beef up the deck for $3000, and we could get our own permit. Why? Because their engineers would not issue a permit. This was another RED FLAG for us. . Through no fault of our own, we realize that this project cannot be completed before Nov, 1st. . Bottom line, after 5 months, we have a mess on our hands. A partial deck and railings. We removed our shrubs. purchased a fan with light, and outdoor light. We are unhappy and disappointed, to say the least. We know that we did not violate the contract and hope that you will do the RIGHT THING. We are requesting a refund of our deposit in the form of a personal check.

      Business Response

      Date: 10/22/2024

Thank you for your patience as we’ve worked through this project. The delays were due in part to necessary evaluations after discovering that the existing deck was not built to code. Since the deck serves as the foundation for your sunroom, it must comply with current building codes for us to obtain the required permits and complete the project. We offered several solutions to address this, including deck modifications, a full replacement, or changing the project to a non-permitted status, but all options were declined. As per the contract, any pre-existing conditions that affect construction, such as structural or code deficiencies, are the homeowner’s responsibility to address. Unfortunately, since the deck remains out of compliance and we’ve been unable to come to an agreement, this has resulted in a delay that we are not liable for under the terms of our contract. We will be proceeding with your request to cancel the project, but the deposit will be retained in accordance with the contract. Should you wish to revisit any of the proposed solutions to bring the deck into compliance, we remain open to working with you to move the project forward. Thank you.

      Reject Business Response
Our deck was built in 2006, permit #****.  The structure was per code, in compliance, and NOT code deficient.
We were told that we could have an Aug or Sept install.
It was Aug 5th that someone came out to remeasure and questioned the structure under the deck.  We feel this should have been discussed before signing the contract. We had no idea it could be a problem.  On 9/2/24, we were asked to proceed without a permit. This did not sound ethical to us. We declined. Later for an additional $8700, they would add the proper supports.  We were unable to do this.  Then for $3000, they could beef-up the deck, but we had to get our own permit. Once again, in good conscience, if the permit could not be obtained through Great Day Improvements Engineering, we were not comfortable with this solution.  We feel we were very patient in all the delays, not hearing anything for weeks at a time and not getting return calls.
We do not feel there was any fault of our own that we had to agree to cancel our project. We complied with our end of the contract.
.   We purchased the light/fan fixture and the outside light.
      .   We removed our bushes.
.   We removed the railings and decking material, of which we were supposed to receive $300 back for doing this work ourselves.
Per the contract 11.3, (Attached) re: Cancellation and/or Termination
They can return ALL or PART of our deposit.
Had they incurred expenses for a permit, variance fees, engineering fees, labor, materials or commissions: that would be our expense.  NONE of this was done.  No CADS were ordered, therefore no permit, no materials. No work was done at our home.
In fact, when we last talked to them, we offered to give them $3000 for any expenses they might have had, BUT would like the remainder of our deposit back, which would be $17,474.  They did not even get back to us,
We are only asking them to be reasonable.

      Business Response

To clarify, the deck must meet current building codes due to the sunroom addition, which includes updates such as securing posts to concrete, doubling band boards, and adjusting spans for joists and beams as required by the latest code standards. Our previous response remains applicable, as the modifications are necessary to secure a building permit. We’ve offered several options to address this, but without approval to make these required updates, we’re unable to proceed in compliance with our contract. Our goal is to meet all safety and legal requirements for your project. To move forward, you’re welcome to hire a separate contractor to modify the deck to meet these requirements or we can do the work. Alternatively, if you choose to cancel the project, we will retain the deposit as outlined in our contract. Thank you.
